Yeah, Metroid might actually have a chance. I loved Ninja Gaiden to death back on the original Xbox. But Ninja Gaiden 2 didn't quite make it for me, although I still liked it.

Nice. Ever since SMG2 I wasn't expecting ME2 to win any GOTY, season, whatever, or win anything over SMG2.

To be fair they also said Fable 2 was GOTY. "You can do anything." DON'T BELIEVE MOLYNEUX'S LIES!
Also in my opinion, RDR is ten times better than ME2.

I don't think Metroid: Other M will be using Ninja Gaiden's camera angles.

They don't really hate ME2. They just need something to complain about on internet forums in their free time. These are probably the same people all over MMO forums, and well probably every game forum, who do nothing but complain no matter what: It gives their life drama and purpose. Everyone needs a "cause" I suppose. lol

And lest we forget, they'll keep on playing the very games they complain about out of lack of anything better to do.

As for the original topic, while I have had a falling out with X-Play in general, on this, we're in accord.

As much as I want ME2 to win GoTY from IGN, Gamespot, the VGA's and whoever else, it always seems to go to the game that's more popular rather than better.

So from the games that have released thus far, I could see RDR beating ME2 at the end of the year, or for games that haven't released yet, Halo Reach, even if it sucks.

I wouldn't put my money on Reach. It is neither popular or better. In fact, if anything, the Halo fan base is decreasing pretty fast. A lot of the die hard fanboys are angry at Bungie for some of the new features they're putting in Reach. Reach didn't even win any E3 awards and they were pretty pissed about that. I could see Red Dead, or Mass 2. But no way Halo:Reach is going to be the winner.

Not I. ME 1 and 2 are the only games I've beaten more than twice. However, I've been waiting for Starcraft 2 since I was in High School. That was 10 years ago!  There is no way I'll ever deprive myself of have Starcraft 2. Thats not gonna happen. Halo Reach looks too damn awesome and has a lot of features that I've been wishing for. I hope that it has a long campaign with a great story, otherwise it's gonna be gathering dust alongside Modern Warfare 2 after i beat it.

From what I've heard, they fix the ratings. So the top guy arbitrarily chooses the rating, or rates it however he likes the game, and then makes the reviewer write an article and give it the score he chose. So you can't exactly go by IGN's reviews or ratings. They're biased.

Well, when you compete with another game franchise that actually won awards and got placed in the guinness book of world records, while changing your gameplay to appease fans of that game, that tends to happen to you.  If they had stuck to their original mechanics, their fans wouldn't have been so angry. Especially after a rip-off called Halo: ODST.

I suspect ME2 will take home a fair share of the GOTY awards, and it deserves it. RDR had more pre-release buzz since it was a Rockstar game, but I think Mass Effect 2 is actually more lauded and more popular. RDR was a great game and definitely my personal runner-up at the moment, but it doesn't have the same lasting appeal after you beat it.

Or they just don't like the game.  Sounds to me from this post that you're more bitter about them not liking it, otherwise I fail to see why this would even be mentioned.

It almost sounds like you think Xplay is a top-ranking source in terms of credibility.

Trust me, Xplay is alot mroe credible than some members who claim their opinions are facts. And that bitterness is much more relevant to the people who hate ME2.


Anyways i wouldn't care if SCII beat ME2 for GOTY, i loved the original SC to begin with and just hopes regardless of what happens, that halo doesnt win the title.

Other than halo not winning, i hope that new call of duty game doesn't win either.
