You've got three humans and an Elf that's more like a dog(and that's insulting to dogs probably) to choose from...but no Dwarf other than Oghran who wants nothing to do with you(and he's gross anyways).

Why couldn't we have a Dwarf like Gorim in the party? They come up with that lame thing about him getting a gimped leg and wife in Denerim so you couldn't pursue anything further with him...bleh.

Because Gorim's sexyness would overtake the entire party. It'd be like having Bann Teagan as a companion. You'd just be swooning and never get anything done.

Sigrun! Yessssss. And Gorim has broken so many F!Aeducan player's hearts, it's not even funny.

There's a new dwarven companion in the Leliana DLC called Tug by the way. He looks handsome, too...

because they couldn't cover EVERY combo when it came to companions....you have romances for dwarves..the same romances EVERYONE else has...

so why should dwarves get a special romance option?

there's the same options for all...you're just not happy with them...but you're not the only one...I don't like that my human female can only romance whiny king-wannabe or a bisexual stererotypical loose-legged elf forcing her to go bisexual with an insane tart bard if she wants any kind of lovin.

So basically...QQ more..maybe others will care

No one's suggesting a dwarf-only romance, just a romance option that happened to be a dwarf.

Although if you were looking to romance a human you had two options for either gender but if you wanted to romance an elf than you were pretty much stuck with Zevran who wasn't everyone's first choice of a romantic partner (especially if you're RP a heterosexual male Warden) so just HAVING one dwarven LI wouldn't mean that they'd be universally appealing and I'm half-expecting that when the day finally does come and a dwarven LI arrives that I won't like them romantically or they'll be some other reason for me not to romance them.

well I will agree with one thing...it looks absolutely ridiculous watching the "love" scenes between a male dwarf and morrigan or Leliana at least....though I'm sure the female one is equally laughable.

Having Zevran or Alistair get down on one knee to kiss the Warden is seriously hot.

I would be happy to see a dwarven LI, as long as it's done well. I think you could get a great story line out of a Legion of the Dead and a Grey Warden- both orders who are not supposed to think about a future- pondering a future together.

If you are a female dwarf and you romance Alistair, you stand against his shoulder, and very much reachable.

If you're a female/male dwarf and you romance Zevran, you reach the tip of his nose.

If you're a male dwarf and you romance Leli/Morri, you are the perfect height for a motorboat.

By heights alone, certain activities are very much, uh, doable. I have measured this for science, I'll have you know.

Once more with feeling! Here's an old post by David Gaider. Interpret it how you will. ;)

And I'm not sure why everyone is so concerned about dwarf romances. If you're playing a dwarf and you think it's weird, then my suggestion would be not to romance anyone. One day, however, we WILL do a dwarf-specific romance. I swear it.

The height disparity is definitely more noticeable than elf + dwarf, but I think it's cute.  One of the things we swoon over in the Alistair thread is how in an Alistair-elf kiss, he kind of scoops her up a little.  And like I said, the kneeling is also awesome.  It's the disparities that make a romance interesting, I think.  Not just the physical of course, I mean the cultural ones too.

Vive la difference!

That's weird, my character is a dwarf in a relationship with Alistair and he doesn't kneel to kiss her. He bends down a little bit but most often the Warden suddenly looks a little bit taller for those scenes. Or maybe Alistair gets shorter. But their heads are definitely closer together than in non-romantic scenes and there's no kneeling. I wonder if this is a platform-related thing? I'm playing on the PS3. Maybe he kneels in the PC version?

Either way it's obvious that the game was not designed for human-dwarf relations. The first time Alistair asked me to his tent, the kiss or whatever just before the "love scene" montage was *very* awkward. I say "or whatever" because I couldn't even tell what they were doing, whether they were kissing or had thrown their arms around each others' necks or if Alistair was trying to give my Warden a noogie or what.

Yes, I'm referring to the new mod from tmp7704.  Gilsa's got some videos up.

There's no female elf romances. Most of your companions are human. I wish there were more elf/dwarf companion.

speaking to someone who is a slave to toolset who uses toolset regularly to make kissing/etc scenes for DA, I am informed that you can't actually bend the characters in the middle. Even if Alistair got down on one knee the f!dwarf warden would have bend to reach him. It's sorted by, as you say, the weird ass hovering thing where suddenly Alistair sinks down or your dwarf floats up.

When you're lying down, however, I'm sure it measures up fine ;)

@ Addai67: Oh, dang. I like my PS3 version a lot but I do feel left out on some of these mods. My PC just doesn't have the graphics capability to handle a game like this. Thanks for the clarification though.

This is true. . .or it seemed to be for the 10 seconds of video accompanying Alistair's first time. Silly, silly boy. . .

Zevran-dwarf is really cute, too.  It's got the same proportions as Alistair-elf, like you could nicely tuck yourself under the guy's arm.  I do wish they gave more race-specific romance lines.  There are only a few places where your LI acknowledges your race and none are very... I guess "special" is the word I'm looking for.  I suppose they wanted to leave RP room.

So far the only mention of race came through one of my dialogue options when Alistair ambushed my Warden in camp and asked/begged her to spend the night with him. My dialogue option was something like "Even though I'm not human like you?" to which his answer was something like "Especially because of that!" I know that this attitude of his may change later on in the game, and I also know that this is a spoilery board so there's nothing stopping anyone here from telling me about it, but this is my first time playing this game and I'd like to hold out hope that he stays a dwarfophile for the duration as he's promised. My Warden deserves it. She's awesome. :)

And the down on hisknees kisses were very nice for making it appear like we went skinny dipping in the Dalish camp
