Excuse me?

I am new to the D.A. forums here, and I recently bought Origins.

I have been playing the game for a short while now, and have reached the village of Lothering.
I am so far finding it all very interesting and fascinating, and have since downloaded a mod or 2.... or even 3 for more enhancement and game pleasure.

I went to the damods.com/Modlist.php page to look up the ones I'm interested in, and so far it has all been fine.

But now I am wondering..... is there a mod around anywhere which can increase the size of the party to more than 3 companions? I feel that would be a very handy thing to have indeed!

I have come to areas in the game where I have had to fight my way through a few more darkspawn than I feel my party can handle, and to be honest, it scares and frustrates me. :(

Before I reached the village of Lothering, me and my 3 companions came up against, hmm..... maybe 5 or 6 darkspawn at once. (can't remember how many exactly though) This worried me greatly, and were only just able to get through them with maybe a 3rd of our health lost because of it.

Has anyone made this type of mod at all? I cannot find it in the mods page I linked to above, unless I didn't look hard enough. Either that, or there isn't one. :(

If anyone can give a helpful reply here, I would appreciate it.B)

There is one that allows you to always have your dog with you. That is the only one I have seen.

Yes. That would be a handy one to have at least. I had it in my party before I met Lelianna in Lothering. At first, I was under the impression that I was to have Lelianna as a 4th companion when it showed me the companions selection screen, and then when I got back to the game again, she wasn't there.  :(Luckily, I could re-load my save game to go back to the selection screen, and it took me a while before I ended up choosing Lelianna over the dog.
I think it would be very handy if I could choose the dog (or even the caged up guy I met in lothering too, or any others I come across, if anyone knows if it's possible) as a 4th companion. B)

Why would you reload? All of your companions are available for you once you recruited them. You can change them at camp or other places when the selection screen is available. If you recruit every possible companion you end up with 8 companions you can choose from.

I suppose I'm quite new to the game. I hadn't thought to go back to camp at the time. I presume that's the only place where you can recruit them from, right, or otherwise when the companion selection screen becomes available too.

well if you could read you may have caught the part where they said they were new to the game....

did you know everything about it when you first got it?

but thanks for the worthless post (which I'm aware mine also goes under)

Klarabella explained to her that you can change companions at camp which is a lot more usefull then your ****ing.

To the OP:
There is a mod that gives you the dog as extra companion: Extra dog slot

My first playthrough I also had the impression that to take Leliana meant I had to give someone else up; I totally rejected her and played the whole game without her. After Lothering, the camp is made available (it's accessible through a box in the top right corner of your map screen). You can change out companions there. Also, as klarabella mentioned, there are other places you can switch out companions including Lothering itself, I believe, Orzammar, Lake Calenhad, and... I can't remember anymore off-hand atm.

For those large groups, you might want to consider some crowd control spells like cone of cold or sleep. I'm far from an expert but these are a couple of things I wished I'd known early on and saved myself a lot of frustration. A little off-topic perhaps, but I hope it helps.

You can change at several places like Lothering, Orzammar, the Dalish camp at the Brecilian forest. There may be more but I don't remember them all. A little icon showing three heads at the top of the screen indicates wether you can call up the selection screen or not.

what part of that could possibly come across as whining?  oh that's right it didn't....you just tried to throw some kind of idiotic insult without any thought or relevancy behind it.  Good job!  learn to comprehend before you spew nonsense

The zz_addparty console command can also be used to exceed the maximum companion cap. This method of bringing along extra characters isn't entirely free of issues however. I probably wouldn't recommend it for your first play-through. For details, see my blog over at the wiki:  dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:-Vim-
