I'm just now getting around to the dwarf noble origin and I noticed a striking physical similarity between the weapon merchant you encounter and Ruck. Certainly, it could just be that there are few models for adult male dwarves but, as the merchant is a smith and Ruck was a smith, it's possible they're one in the same.
Did anyone else notice the resemblance?
If it is Ruck it's sort of depressing to see him "normal" knowing what's to come.
Dwarf Noble Origin: Could it be? Is it he?

Maybe it's his dad? Ruck had been in the deep roads for 5 years

Filda says she's a widow, for whatever that is worth.

Had he? I knew it had been a fair length of time but I must have missed the exact length.
Disappointing.

It could still be his dad. We don't know how long Filda has been widowed.

Ruck is a miner, therefore the caste system dictates that his father was a miner.

Ruck was a smith. His mother gives you the first shield his father made.

I thought Ruck was sent to the mines for a crime.

He was a smith on a Deep Roads expedition and he killed one of his fellows accidentally during an altercation so he fled (to protect his mom from the shame of what he'd done I think) and ends up living on darkspawn corpses.
Given the timeline he can't be the Dwarf you encounter in the origin but they're strikingly similar right down to the studded leather armor without gloves.

Well, he's living off of darkspawn corpses, so he has the taint as well... Apparently, once you have it, you can detect it in others.

You won't end up like him. He admits this if you tell him that as a Grey Warden it's not the same. Besides, when you start to hear the Calling you don't just wait around like, say, Utha and become a ghoul but you go get yourself killed in the Deep Roads.Cypher0020 wrote...

ask me if i care about necro.
the middle aeducan sibling can have gorim kill the weapon merchant (and loot the dagger off of the corpse) - which of course is something that can happen regardless of which origin The warden hails from. even if you are the DN and don't gut the weapon merchant, this hypothetical-ruck-daddy could be killed any time between prelude and Warden's [re]arrival in the orzammar commons. that would handle the widow portion of filda's story. or it could be his uncle or cousin. no holes yet. nice speculation right off the bat, btw. my artificially-jaded initial reaction would be to brush it off as redundant models, but i like the way some of you think
