Because it's going to sell like hotcakes, get people interested in the series, right before they announce an Expansion. It's a great business model
This sounds interesting, ME2 expansion? Speak, what you know about that ?Please [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie]

I was just wondering. You see other big titles that don't get discounts or anything, proof that they're still 'selling like hotcakes' at full price, like Modern Warfare for example. Anyways, you think an expansion is coming? I figured they'd stick with bite-sized DLCs.
Modern Warfare caters to a MASSIVE audience, one that will always buy a game that has COD stamped on it. COD MW2 has barely been out a year and they're going to release Black Ops. Just take a look at their "map pack" and it's bloated price tag. The way that company sees it, 70% of their fan base WILL buy the mappack, just for the sake of having anything new to play with their buddies. There's tons of cash in a Multiplayer style game, it's no wonder BioWare's making SWTOR MMO
COD is the new Madden, churning out a game every year or year an' a half.
And yes, an expansion is on the way. We'll see it before ME3 at any rate.

Hey now, they didn't announce anything yet. But don't you think they'd want to wait till it's almost finished to announce anything at all? That's been the recent trend with BioWare lately
You have a point....

It appears that the prices of some games drop to $40 right after public school is out for the summer (at the end of June).

It depends on which city you live in. For example, Bioshock 2 (which came out this february) have NEVER been available in my town (well, license version of it), so I bought the game from Steam. Crap, why is videogame piracy in Russia so popular that in most of the cities (including mine), there are more stores that sell only pirate copies than the licensed version selling ones?Crippledcarny wrote...
Six months doesn't sound like too short of a time for a price drop. There are a ton of games, PC at lest, that you can even find on store shelves after they're more than half a year old.

An Expansion? Oh please Bioware.
Edit: give Bioware credit for dropping the price. Maybe Ubisoft and Activision should take note.
Edit #2: Ok, I just read your confirmation Javier. Sweet mother of Freya, that is music to my ears...er eyes.

Hey, if they sell more units with this price drop, more power to them. The game isn't new anymore, it stands to reason that the price would drop. More sales of ME2 = more potential opening-day sales of ME3. Sounds pretty normal to me.
Agreed. Add to the fact you can still get the Platinum Hits version of ME1 for $20. So for the price of a regular Xbox 360 game you can buy both and get the whole ME experience.
