This is just a question to all Mass Effect fans out there. I "never" post in forums about video games but Mass Effect 2 is different.

I beat the game but All of my crew died in the process in  order  to overloading the collectors base to blow it up.
Did my crew die because I didn't make the right choices in the game?

I didn't have any upgrades on the ship it self, so maybe armor or a barrier could have
prevented some deaths.

I was just shocked that everyone died. Except Jacobs and Joker (seth green) and Garret.

So after the credits rolled I can still do side quests which is really cool. Then I realized
that my mineral scanner seems faster, and bigger. I didn't upgrade that but is that a reward
for beating the game?

I want to know, who didn't blow up the collectors base? Did you listen to the Elusive Man?
This story is Awesome I Love this Universe. I am a star wars guy (no trekky) so this is right up my alley.

Only once before have I ever been so engaged with a game and that is Phantasy Star II on sega genesis.
This reminds me how a good story can be so envolved and engaging.

This really isn't the place to discuss events from Mass Effect 2. You'll have to register your game with the site so you can access the Mass Effect 2 spoiler forum. You'll get a lot more discussion over there.

But you can check this guide that goes over the ending of ME2 to great detail.

I played through and saved all my team a few times.. there's some things you HAVE to upgrade in order to save some people. Loyalty is also pretty important. The rest is the decisions you make at the end.

this should be in the mass effect 2 section, but i'll answer it anyway.

Some is based on choice, like who sneaks through the ventilation, who makes the biotic field, etc. but the biggest thing is having their loyalty. If you did none of the loyalty quests for your squad they are all going to die.

edit: also upgrade the normany shields, armor, and weapons.

Who knows? But I think "Jacobs" is a gun manufacturer in Borderlands.

garret is a turian you find investigating saren in the first mass effect game

i forget already but hes either a spectre, a candidate or wants to be one
