I wish there was a way to see how many people stayed loyal to that b*tch Ashley...
Watch your language, chief. This thread isn't about praising or bashing characters.
It's not "bashing". Ashley was rude and a racist....her attitude with everything can be classifed as witchy...
Anyways is it against the rules to curse here? If so sorry but I figured we're all adults here...
<_<
Another one of these?!*sigh*
Ashley isn't racist. A racist is someone who hates or fears other cultures on the basis that they are different or because the person considers 'their' race to be superior to all others or that all others should be instantly and completely distanced from.
That doesn't fit Ashley at all. She doesn't hate aliens based on the fact that they are a different species, she doesn't 'hate' aliens at all. She just distrusts them for a number of reasons, mostly the fact that her grandfather was the first human to surrender to an alien race and hence her family name is blacklisted in Alliance military and thus she has spent most of her life serving crummy groundside assignments with little to no experiance working with other races and only her family's history to go on.
That's why she DISTRUSTS aliens.
That said, she still doesn't think humanity should turn down the Council and other alien races as allies, just that they need to be able to stand on their own two feet as they shouldn't rely on them staying allies. She also doesn't think humanity should 'mistreat' alien races and actually says that she doesn't believe humanity is 'superior'. She flat out despises the policies and ideologies of Terra Firma believing they take things way too far. She also compliments and gets along well with Tali as can be evidenced by some of the elevator conversations where she says that she heard some humans are angry at the Quarians for what happened on Eden Prime and then expresses her hope that by having Tali helping them find Saren that people will change their views on the Quarians. She also happily volunteers to assist the Salarians on Virmire and demonstrates that she can work with them comfortably and shows a great amount of respect to their skill and determination.
Finally if given the right dialouge options she can actually change her distrust on aliens completely and admit that it was the Alliance and not the Council who are responsible for her family name being blacklisted and she finally comes around, not only content but actually proud to be fighting alongside aliens and even highly trusting of the Council.
Also as for the 'rude' thing, yes it is true that she can get aggressive from time to time but given that she's a soldier that's to be expected. Marines generally have a tough and angry attitude, it comes from being trained by the military. That said she still makes friendly jokes among some of the crew members, when taken places with Wrex she and he occassionally exchange quips and she tends to be quite friendly to Shepard one way or another.
Also she has a clear compassionate side to her as well, when taken to see Samesh Bahtia about retrieving his wife (Who was a soldier in Williams's unit on Eden Prime) Nirahli's body Ashley is very comforting and caring to him and even takes the time (if you do the paragon thing anyway) to tell him how much his wife loved him.
Also even though she has some angry things to say to Liara, after her mother dies on Noveria Ashley tells Shepard that he should probably talk to her because she's just lost her mum and that's gotta hurt.
So yeah, in closing, not racist and can be aggressive but has a good side too and if you don't like her that's fine but you are not excused from acting out angrily at the idea of other people liking her.
