Yes, I know.  But I'm not sure you understand how damaging hate speech is and how it works.  Any number of people on these forums could be affected in some way or another by words you callously throw around.  Please, try to be more sensitive and follow the rules of the boards.  There are plenty of other words to use, words not quite as loaded.

Ashley does not exist. She has no family members. Nobody except those that take the game way too seriously are going to get offended, and those people have serious problems.

When you immediately accuse someone of fanboyism, there is the danger that whatever meaning your statement might have had is then lost.  The target of his words is completely irrelevant.  By your logic it should be socially acceptable to tell racist jokes so long as members of the race targeted by the joke aren't present.

There is no hate speech in the op's statement.  Maybe not the best choice of words, but not hate speech.  Grow a thicker skin if you're over sensative to the word.  That is you're problem, not the op's or anyone else.

You're trying to classify it as hate speech, because you don't like the word.  Deal with it.

You'll notice that I said "hate speech," not just "hate."  I'm classifying it as hate speech because the word is a slur.

It's a thin line, I'll agree.  I don't want to take away anyone's power to say a word.  I want them to realize the power their words hold.  Hopefully, that will be enough for them to reconsider their word choice.

I see jargon and speech on this forum that I personally dislike and find very distateful quite often, however I do not attempt, neither do I want to censor it.  Slanderous personal attacks are quite another thing though.  Ultimately, it's up to the mods to decide in this forum, and we have the site rules as a guide to go by.  I don't believe the op broke any site rules in his or her original post.

I agree that I could have phrased things more gently in my initial post.  But I wanted people to stop and think about the words they use.  Even if I can't change peoples' minds about a word like the word in question, at least it led to this dialogue between us.

like several people have said, just use an downloaded save or a file edit (no big deal either way). if you are just going after the romance change anyways... won't matter because you'll be pursuing new options in ME2
