@The Masked Rog: Can you explain not having a problem with stealing in the 1.03 patch? Withoud a mod, you should be able to always steal money. You can steal items as long as you have no money. Is this what happens to you, or does it always work?
@Bruno: I have onboard sound, and it glitches sometimes with ambient conversations/gossip. Some lines will sound fine, then one will go really faint. Listening closely, it's like it went into mono sound and echoes at a very low volume. In heavy magic combat, the sound cuts out completely for a second then returns to normal usually without crashing.
That reminds me, there is a sound problem (not a real problem, more of a on again off again glitch) where you enter the Black Marsh and someone in your party starts to talk, and instead of the voice actor voice, it comes out as the default Microsoft Sam voice? hehe Its happened a couple times and I always wonder if anyone else has heard this?

You're from Italy right? Do they have labour laws over there, or is everyone forced to work overtime all the time?
We have labour laws, and given that our country has a quite strong leftist party, they are actually stronger than those in the US, I'm not sure about Canada.
Having labour laws doesn't mean that dedicated and professional workers still can't decide to skip vacations when they are extremely backlogged as Bioware is on this issue, and use the saved time in order to recover the time they previously wasted.
It's a matter of dedication and professionalism, of course I'm not saying they should be FORCED to. A true professional, dedicated and enthusiastic for his job, and respectful towards the customers that pay his groceries, normally doesn't need it.
I sure miss the time in which getting to work in game development or similar markets was a "dream" for people, and they'd do everything in their power to perform the best that's possible and offer the best and most polished product possible. Including overtime, lack of vacations and so forth.
If everything else fails, Having labour laws also doesn't mean that a company can't encourage their workers to work overtime with bonuses and monetary advantages. After all, since they're nickeling and dimeing us to this extent, they might as well put part of that money to good use.
Bioware doesn't have to follow YOUR business practices whatever they might be...IF you are even in business, as you have been going on about over the months since I started here.
This isn't about how you run things, this is about how Bioware runs things. They follow policies set up for them by more than likely their parent company.
THis isn't about MY way to do things or MY business practices. You can be sure that if they followed my business practices this game wouldn't have even see release in such a disastrous state, and no DLC or expansion would have been released without the game being fixed first.
What matters is the professional way to do things, The way that prioritizes customer satisfaction over fast money (and smart CEOs would understand that the Customer satisfaction is actually more advantageous for the company and brings MORE money on the long run).
Things will get done according to the priorities that are assigned. We are the customer, we have been made aware that these things are being fixed. We are getting weekly updates on what the current fixes are. They haven't set a date yet, I assume because there are many more to fix?
Then they should release smaller patches, in order to allow more people to actually enjoy the game while they work on the rest. At the moment the game is more or less in the state of a beta. Too bad that we already paid for it. If things are going according to the priorities that have been assigned, then someone needs to tell them that they need to rething their priorities. I'm doing just that. They're free to listen or to just plug their ears singing "LALALALALA!!! Can't hear ya!!!", but this doesn't mean people should shut up.
Yeah we had to wait a long time. but at least NOW its happening. Can't do more than that.
No Feraele, it isn't happening NOW. It'll happen "who the hell knows when". It could be tomorrow or it could be on christmas for all we know, and that's part of the problem.
I'm getting weary to come back here every time and ask "can I finally play the game?" "Not yet" Then when?" "dunno".
It's a blatant form of disrespect for the customer, his money and his time. That's all there is to it.

My you are a wordy person aren't you. hehe
Well, being that most programmers and coders that I have been made aware of during my many journeys through many games, tend to work very very long hours anyways, begrudging them their national holiday in favour of your particular wants and needs ..isn't really reasonable ...to me anyway.
I know for a fact that some even sleep overnight on the couch in their offices, to be ready to go at it again early.
Yes IT is happening now, just because you are too impatient to wait for it doesn't mean its not happening..did you read Victor's post at the top of this thread and the previous threads in this regard? Or did you just ignore the whole thing and make assumptions that nothing was being done at all?
I don't think I get "blatant disrespect" out of this whole thing, I think I get "pressed for time" and "constantly busy" and "too many irons in the fire"..from this.
I don't think there is any intentional disrespect going on here, as you would like to believe.

I sure don't begrudge individual workers. The effort I'm talking about needs to be a team effort, as a single programmer or tester deciding to stay at the office by himself would probably end up sleeping on the couch and nothing else since he wouldn't probably have much to do anyway, unless he's backlogged on his individual work.
It's an effort that needs to start from above, even if often initiative from below can encourage those above to get off their lazy asses and get things going. I've seen it happen quite often, even if it seems to be becoming more and more an antiquated concept, unfortunately.
The lack of professionalism comes from the company as a whole, and not from the individuals.

I read victor's post very well, and it's the same as the posts we've been reading for months "At the moment we don't have a release date, so just wait 'til we finally deign releasing it"
Intended or not, that's definitely something that flies in the face of any kind of customer satisfaction concept, and most definitely "who knows when" has absolutely nothing to do with "now".
It's not happening "now".
"now" they're not even telling us "when" it'll finally happen.
"now" is when it's on my computer and running smoothly, not on some Bioware internal PC that I'll never get to play on.

10. Rules of Conduct.
You may violate the Terms of Service if you:
- Disrupt the flow of chat in chat rooms with vulgar language, abusiveness, hitting the return key repeatedly or inputting large images so the screen goes by too fast to read, use of excessive shouting [all caps] in an attempt to disturb other users, "spamming" or flooding [posting repetitive text].

Deign? Where on earth did you get that from..that again is an assumption on your part. It goes along with your other assumptions that Bioware is doing nothing at all, but existing solely to make you angry at them, evidently.
Anyways...this is the patch thread..I think I'm going to attempt to get back on topic, by repeating the question I asked earlier

Nice try, falls short though, I'm afraid.
"spamming" or flooding [posting repetitive text] means writing the same sentence over and over in long lines.

like this. Over one or several posts. No matter how much you think my posts express similar concepts, they're not nearly the same and they are different responses to different people that bring different arguments.
ironically your posts about ignoring and similar concepts are quite a lot more identifiable as spam and trolling (not to mention personal attacks) than mine. "+1" posts are a by the book definition of spam.
Mind you, this very post of yours can easily be considered against the rules, I'm sure you don't need to be told the reason why.
i've very possibly been on the Internet quite a lont longer than you, since the time of BBS communication, through newsgroups and then plenty forums that don't even exist anymore.
I know my netiquette, and don't need you to teach me. Even parts that youngsters nowadays have forgotten (like quoting orderly in order to show clearly what part of mymessage refers to the quoted message and deleting superfluous parts of the quote).
hell, youngsters nowadays don't even know what "netiquette" means.

I'd challenge you to post a quote in where I even implied that Bioware is doing nothing at all. The problem is that Bioware has been doing mostly the wrong thing for eight months. Focusing on releasing DLCs and neglecting fixing the game as a consequence.
Even now they're STILL focusing more on releasing DLCs. "Sorry guys, but Leliana's song comes first".
That's some serious case of completely screwed up priorities there.

With the Edmonton team on holiday, celebrating Canada Day and the US team being out of the office on Monday to celebrate independence Day, this week's update is relatively short and doesn't contain new patch items. But we'll make sure to get you a full information update next week.
I know that some of you were hoping to have the patch ahead of the upcoming Leliana's Song DLC. Unfortunately, although we still do not have a release date, I can tell you that it will not be released before Leliana's Song. Hopefully, when everyone is back in the office next week, I can at least update you on where the patch is in the QA and certification process. I amalso hoping to have the full copy of the patch notes in one of the next updates, along with remaining known issues and workarounds.
Previously reported:
• Fixed pick-pocketing. Characters were successfully stealing, but not receiving any items.
• It is no longer possible for the player to get blocked during gameplay by pursuing both candidates' quests in the Orzammar plot line.
• Instant +100 approval bugs for Awakening companions have been resolved.
• Anders, Sigrun and Velanna's personal quests will properly activate.
• Fixed an issue that would prevent an imported character from detecting traps.
• Red script will no longer appear in the place of tattoos.
• Power of Blood talent will be usable in Awakening.
• Game saves on Xbox 360 were being corrupted if you sold too many items to the same merchant. Saves will no longer be corrupted if you do this.
• Daggers will now properly assign the dexterity-based damage bonus
• Updated audio drivers to fix a number of audio related crashes.
• Switching between Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age: Awakening were resetting options to default settings.
• Multiple transitions in and out of Fade areas were multiplying the number of visual effects running, slowing down gameplay.
• Resolved a number of memory leaks that were causing crashes and increases load times.
• (Awakening only) Players may now receive notes of appreciation from former love interests.
• (Awakening Only) During the Assault on Amaranthine, a bug would
occasionally make some enemies invincible, which impeded game progress.
This no longer happens.
• (Awakening Only) Masterpiece and paragon
silverite runes are now weapon runes instead of armor runes.
•
(Awakening Only) The masterpiece slow rune is now available for purchase
from merchant stores.
Keep watching for additional details. At this time, we do not have a release date for the patch. Once that is set, we will update you on that.
Thanks Victor.

I keep my posts as short as it's needed and as long as it's needed for them to be effective.
We've been given the gift of language, might as well use it. We're on the internet, so I'm not even wasting ink and paper. Bits and bytes are biodegradable.
Was this short enough for your taste?

Two questions.
1. What is the audio driver update exactly? I read "drivers" and think
PC, or is it going to fix the times on XBOX360 where I am talking
with someone, make a choice to progress the conversation and their voice
stops working but the scene continues to play.
2. Could you just add an option to turn off spell effects all together? I can see the icons, I know when something is cast on me, I don't need to see big puffs of purple smoke following me around when Song of Curage is active on the group.
My reason for wanting an option to turn them off is XBOX360 slows down a lot
or freezes once so many are active, it froze in the same spot 3 times in
a row once until I turned some spells off. I had myself with Momentum and Summon Spider (the spider was the master one so it has spell effects on it too), Alistair had Threaten and Rally
active, Wynne had Cleansing Aura and Rock Armor active, and Leliana had Suppressing Fire and Song of Courage active. Also I had cast Mark of Death on an enemy and 2 of my party had Mark of Death cast on them as well. Needless to say 5 characters running around with purple smoke around them from the Song of Courage along with all of their own spell effects going, and the Darkspawn casting spells on us froze the XBOX360 in the same spot 3 times and multiple other times in different spots until I stopped using some of Leliana spells. It kind of sucks I can't play at full potential because it freezes or slows down the game.
I dread to even try playing an Arcane Warrior or Blood Mage with their spell effects going constantly.
This is on a fairly new XBOX360 as well, I just got a new one in April.
Thats actually been a wish of mine...to be able to turn spell effects off. Some of the sustained caster and warrior spells/skills tend to cause me lag. If there was an option to turn down or turn off those effects that would be great.

Also, if you are on the PC, I think there is a mod for that.. called "personal annoyance remover" or something like that. takes the auras from sustainable spells off.

Tom: Hey boss, we have the patch finished and are ready to put it out today!!
Boss: Hmmmmm, yeah. Why don't we wait until waaaay after we release our next DLC. That way whatever gets broken we can add those fixes to it.
Tom: Yeah, but if we go that route we won't be able to release the patch until near the end of the year.
Boss:........yup. Now if you'll excuse me I'm late for my golf game. *trots off down the hall singing..Money-money-money-money....MONEY!!

Listen, I may not be very smart, but people are saying they can NOT play this game. That the game will not work without crashing every couple minutes. There are three possibilities; they are lying, they have a different game then me, or their system is having problems. I just don't see any other way to look at it... Yes I know there are some bugs, but bugs that make the game unplayable is on an entirely different level. Playing and dealing with a couple bugs is different then not being able to play at all.
I agree. Until the part where Alistair disappeared Awakenings and the 1.03 patch worked just fine for me...it actually ran FASTER. I think whatever technical issues I've been having (in fact I know this as truth, cuz I fixed 'em) are my own damn fault for having too many treasures in my override chest. Conflicting DLC files and so forth. I'm going to do a rollback to see if my current problem is alleviated, cuz I've got nothing better to do at the moment, but all in all Awakenings worked out just fine. As far as Bioware goes, I visibly flinched when I found out they sold out to EA. I remember the outpouring of anger when Bioware botched the ending of KotoR II: The Sith Lords, to get it out for Christmas...but that didn't stop me from playing it four times through. Unlike in the past, video games are BIG business now, so the bottom line becomes the priority. I too miss the NWN days when the developers jumped on the forums and answered questions themselves, but I too understand that they probably got fed up with every twink who didn't know their own computer from a hole in the continuum blaming the developer for their problems and having themselves a good old whine parade. If not that many people pithed and moaned about their problems, and instead helped each other out with creative solutions, maybe we could have some kind of solution instead of endless bickering. (off my soapbox now). Back to the game...

These are the major causes for crashing the game, but the game is really crashing on better systems and with windows clean install. The game need's to be patched for a long time. Maybe 5 patches from know further.
