So far i have never experienced any crashes or major slow downs (though 1.03 made my game a bit slower). Other than a few bugs, i'd rate it a near 10/10 . Really hope the developers focus more on the story and characters instead of "graphics" in dragon age 2.

I hope that better testing and QA is at the top of the list for DA2, so that what happened with this game isn't repeated. I agree that graphics should be second to the story, after all it is a story driven rpg, but I would like to see my choices have a real impact on events, perhaps different branches to the storyline depending on the choices made, different companions based on your character's overall alignment. (good/evil etc) No matter what they decide for DA2 there must be better testing, losing hundreds of hours due to a bug that should've been found before the game was even released is beyond frustrating.

Oh yes !!! You are right.. I just forgot that only HFN could become queen.. my mistake
Are you really saying that all non HFN in romance with Alistair might be screwed in Awakening?
I hope at this point there will be a letter form Alistair hidden somewhere in the game that would trigger with the patch.. like Lel and Zev's ones...

No problem, I thought about because I´m involved myself, my first char was an elf and I joined some discussions about. At the moment I strongly believe in the bad "screwed" option. Posted Image
I´m not sure how the other two letters could be found by users, but I believe that they would mention it, if there were more.

Found a new glitch.

After beating the game i went to the saved game after the epilogue and suddenly i got the ultimate sacrifice achievement for no reason.I did dark promise option before.

I did skip the ashes of andraste quest sort of.

I went along with kolgrim and took the blood but never poured them in.When he showed up outside since i wanted to hurry along with the game i went all the way to the side avoiding the event.I did not get any achievement for not defiling the ashes.

So I think that might have been the cause of the little odd glitch.I am not a tech guy so i really do not know.

Still nothing on crossbows... Am I the only player who is annoyed about the fact that they're not working properly?

Hope this comes out soon and I do hope it fixes the CTDs caused by mana clash and a few other spells... I'm right at the end of Origins, but cannot finish it because one of the spells the archdemon uses causes me to crash every time :<

Some other posters have mentioned that this CTD is an audio bug.  Try turning off some of the effects audio and then playing it through.  At least you'll be able to finish the game.

I never really used crossbows, but I read that it was the 1.03 patch that messed them up. I'm still waiting for the regular bows to work properly....almost 9 months now and still no word on whether or not they will be fixed along with daggers. Should be 50/50 str and dex, but dex is adding nothing at all no matter how much you put into it, really annoying playing a gimped archer. Posted Image

But I hope Daggers are working properly? on PC ?
"Patch 1.02
BALANCE
Daggers now apply 0.5 points of damage per additional point in dexterity and 0.5 points of damage per additional point in strength, as originally intended. This increases dagger damage for high-dexterity characters.
"

Or daggers didn`t work too? Or it`s only bows does not work?

Pretty sure they work on the PC, but the consoles never saw that patch, dex has been broken since day one....

Bioware go play something else.

we are. This doesn't change that we also are paying customers, and have the right to play the game we paid for without problems, and to complain as much as we see fit until that happens.

I have to agree with oblivionenss in this case, especially in the case of you.  I have my own complaints, but I'm haven't become blind-sighted by my disappointment with BW.  Considering it seems you can't do anything but complain, I personally think your posting rights on these forums should be yanked until the new patch is released.  This thread has gained 10 pages of people responding to his crying in under 36 hours.  Posted Image

I have a plan....a great one folks!, lets make a patch to patch Abriael from whining.

It's hardly going to speed up the process by b****ing & moaning about it like a child.  If anything, it's only going to prolong the release of the patch or make so less bug fixes make it in the patch because they have to keep addressing his crying.  I'm surprised that he still has posting rights when nothing positive can come out of his mouth.  He sets an example for trolls.  Posted ImagePosted Image

I want the game fixed. I don't understand why everyone keeps saying that it is unplayable when it isn't. Most issues don't ruin the gameplay. Right, the wrong character is recognized as king. Does that ruin 50+ hours of game. It doesn't!

The game is only unplayable to certain people.  I personally don't hit the crash bugs (not the one that most people are talking about anyways), but that's just because of my system specs.  Certain bugs could be considered as game-breaking, but some of them are at least avoidable.

And Abriael_CG, while you are entitled to your opinion, by this point in the discussion we are all painfuly aware of what your issues are. There is no longer any need for you to repeat them ad nauseam in your high-handed tone of sensationalist hyperbole. Repeating your arguments loudly and often does not make your opinions more correct or valid. If you cannot argue your position without the terms "fanboy," "professionalism," "sloppy," or "paying customer," I'm afraid I will have to start editing or removing your posts as spam.

this is not, as you might think, to stifle any and all criticism of our company, our games, and our processes, but to keep the discussion on-topic and moving along. continuing to dwell on the same comments and ideas over and over, especially in your rather confrontational tone, is counter-productive to the purpose behind our communication in these update threads.

@Stanley Woo: are you seriously telling me that talking about "professionalism" is a sensationalistic hyperbole? And here i was thinking that it's the very basic of any kind of service/business.
If it's not to stifle criticism, I wonder why your message is directed exclusively to me, and not as well to the ones that defend you guys, with the same (or often worse, i sure didn't Insult anyone, but some quite creative insults have been directed to me) confrontational tone, and repeating ad libitum the same concepts as well.

The comment was directed at you because you've been throwing a tantrum like a 2 year old ever since you found out about them working on the new patch (possibly longer, but I've only noticed it in these threads).  If you want people to stop singling you out as a child throwing a tantrum, then grow up & speak like adult.  Isn't the age requirement for this site 18?  Grow up & act like it!!!

Why dont you guys just post the updates weekly then lock the thread? Nothing productive comes after that first post.

No offense guys, but we are not involved with the patch on a development level, and there are other threads that BUGS have been posted.

A sound idea.

Lock the thread and make due with weekly, short updates (Even if it's onlyy a short line a la "still working on the patch; nothing new to report"). Just don't go into radio silence for months -because that's nothing short of frustrating for any fan browsing the forum for news.

That makes sence to me.  I've only been using these forums for a couple months after finding out about the problems with the 1.03 patch (after installing it) & I can see that threads will be destroyed with spam, flaming & trolling given enough time (and it don't take long at that).  I would be better to post the thread, sticky it & lock it as soon as it's posted (like an announcement).  The Xfire forums usually don't even allow you to post in important threads like this & I think that given the history of threads just on this patch alone, the BW forums shouldn't either.

@Abriael_CG

If they're not going to ban you from then forums, then I want an ignore button so I don't have to read your constant complaining everytime you post.  Posted Image

@Stanley Woo

A big thanks for finally stepping in and placing some order in this thread.  When I came back after 2 days & found 10 pages added to this thread, I already knew that it was going to be over an argument & flamiing.  Hopefully this will be my last post refering to the flaming/arguing, but I needed to get a few things out...

@thread in general

Alright.  This thread is supposed to be about the upcoming patch, which means only discussions about bugs & patches are on-topic.  As with any (decent) forum, flaming should be responded to with warnings/banning as needed, so please try to keep the attitude to a minimum.  I may not be an Admin/Moderator on these forums, but I can tell when people have stepped over the line & I'm going to start reporting such posts as spam/harrassment if it continues.

Your "@ thread in general" section was somewhat undermined by your attempt to restart the argument earlier in your post. The issue has basically been closed and so there is no real need for your replies.

A few points aside, it is true Abriael_CG made the thread progress.

@Siradix
I'm sure if Morrigan receives a letter, even she will write back.
If letter system is available in the game.
I'm not sure the masterpiece slow rune bug could be fixed, but yes, I do need it.

While what you said is true in some ways, you completely ignored people doing the exact same thing on the other side of the arguement, many of Abriel's posts were responses to people saying the exact same thing over and over. I'm not defending anyone, on either side of the argument, just saying that the blame for the length of this thread is the fault of more than one person alone.

I do agree that there should be a locked thread only for the updates as they are released, and another thread like this one for "discussion" of the patch release notes.

OMG I don't like the sound of this......it's starting to sound like they are nearing the release of the patch without any word about fixing the textures of the sentinel armor, vigilance sword and without any word about fixing the dwarf origin's inability to keep the preorder and bonus items.

DO NOT tell me to uninstall Warden's Keep in order to get the sentinel armor and vigilance sword to show properly because I will go on a mad destructive frenzy.

That issue only impacts Dwarf nobles origins and they have a posted workaround for it.

Maybe the patch team needed to learn how to patch the consoles, plus there have been serious issues on the consoles that took priority over general patching. Just my two copper pieces, mind you.

Perhaps, Maybe multi-platform is not their "thing". I don't know, it just seems very un-bioware, if that makes sense.

Yes, I agree with you. And that's something I've said a few times. This is Bioware's first true foray into a simultaneous multi-platform release and I just don't think they were ready for what happened. Mind you this is just my opinion of course but the only two possibilities that come to mind are not being prepared or deliberate laziness. I've supported this company for a number of years. I would prefer it be the former. Updates like these help a lot in pushing the scales back in that direction.

I think you've been nail on the head with this particular criticism Wicked. Considering how smoothly ME2 went, how well their other PC games have worked in the past, I really don't think they were prepared for handling these issues across platforms. Trying to release all the fixes together is, I think, holding up what should be simple fixes for them on PC while they struggle with the console fixes so all the games are performing identically.
