That's what i thought too. Just call it patch 1.04a and the rest for 1.04 (final). Image IPB

But this friday we will get new info on the update, and from the looks of it they are soon done addressing bugs within this patch, so my guesses is one or two weeks more the patch will be released.

It takes a lot of work and expense to package up a patch release.  It's not just a simple matter of zipping up the files and pushing it up to an FTP site for download.  Remember, this patch has to go out to the consoles as well.  I'm glad that they're packing this patch with most of the major bug fixes.  There's only the Silverite Mines bug that still looms large but I'm sure they're on it.!  Image IPB

PATIENCE.  We've waited this long - what's a few more weeks??  Image IPB

Sorry but that's not true. There were a ton of beta patches for nwn. You slap on a great big BETA logo, put it in a little off corner with disclaimer and tell anyone with problems it's their own fault. That's how everyone else does it.

I'm currently avoiding anything requiring 1.3 since it causes more trouble than it's worth.

Finally figured out how to actually play the game. the SFX were borked. I'd like to play with SFX now. The game loses a lot of it's oomph without it. When the game is unplayable in it's basic form (With sound even turned ON) that needs to be addressed imediately. Game glitches and swords not working/looking right is less damaging. At least you can play the game.

So basically it's ok for them to nickel and dime us AND to save as much as possible with patching as well. Maximum revenue, minimum expense, and who cares about the fact that many can't play decently yet. Really commendable.

Please. TONS of other software houses release patches  with hotfixes for the most serious problems. They simply respect their customers more and concentrate on DLC less, apparently.
There's no valid excuse for Bioware's behavioir with patching Dragon Age.

It's "a few more weeks" in which many customers won't be able to play the game they paid for.
It's really funny to see those that can play preaching "PATIENCE" lol without even realizing that their continued preaching does nothing but irritate more those that are affected by the countless issues of this game.

Read PATIENCE as "I can play the game just fine and minor graphical/damaging glitches don't concern me, you'll just have to wait to actually enjoy it".

In other words: "Sucks to be you! Hahahahahah!" :?
Funny part, is that some people don't really get a simple fact. The more they encourage this kind of careless, irresponsible behavor from the developer, the more they raise the chance that next time it'll be their turn to wait.

It's been quite a while since Awakening so it's really not that crazy for players to expect a fix for what 1.03 broke although I'd rather wait longer and get a real patch and not another broken fix like 1.03.

It's really annoying to have to look for third party mods to fix issues on the PC, a luxury that fellow players on the console are denied. Don't get me wrong, I love the game but it's irritating to have to wait so long for patches that end up breaking more things (although I really dig the spell nerfing with 1.03).

I'm glad there are new DLCs coming out but an official patch that would fix some well documented bugs would be great (using a mod or the console shouldn't be necessary to finish a quest like 'Jowan's Intention' for instance).

While you have a point there, remember this game is multiplatform. For the consoles every patch has to go through external testing, either from Microsoft or Sony, which probably don't accept "beta patches".

I may risk repeating myself, but I don't think DLC has anything to do with patches.

/agree

I am geting a little irate about this preaching "Patience" Image IPB9 months of a game that is collecting dust on my shelf because it works for maybe a 1/2 hr of gameplay before it crashes. I am not going to even go down the list of bugs. This thread has enough of that. My Patience is very high but, 9 months come on ?

Also getting a little annoyed with the people who keep posting about how there game works fine with no problems.
Image IPBFINE I am happy for you, it works for you but, doesn't for us. Thnx for sharing. Now please stop posting about it over and over. "We Get IT" This is a patch thread not a "how much I enjoy my "bug free", flawless game with 0 problems". If you have no problems why post here at all ?

People who are crashing: Try turning off sound effects. That actually worked for me. The game sounds stupid as hell now though :(

Can't approve of the rampant use of the words "troll" or "fanboy" in this thread. I prefer down-right direct insults myself. That said, I agree with 99.9% of Abriael's opinions as always. Spouted mostly the same sorts of vitriol and such myself over the last many months. I'm just plum tired of carrying the load and fighting the fight. Good to see someone still willing to stand up for what's right...

To the opposition: I still can't believe you don't get it. Ah well maybe when you are on your own, struggling to pay bills, and competing with everyone for EVERYTHING it'll start making more sense to you.

It's okay to be upset that you feel you haven't gotten your money's worth. We're all waiting to play. It's the whole "you are willing to wait and you accept the explanation that there are different teams doing DLC and things we don't see going on behind the scene, so you are WRONG AND PART OF THE PROBLEM" style of communication that can be, well, off-putting and less than productive.

It's the whole, 'catch more flies with honey than vinegar' thing.

Sadly Aratak it appears you are
correct.

More DLC still no patch. And here I thought taking a 3
month hiatus from DAO would have me come back to good news. Guess my DAA
will still grow dust and remain uninstalled. No new DLC for me until
they fix what I have already purchased.

And to add injury to
insult, now the severs are down. Yay!!

Oh, get the **** over
it... the rest of us have been playing it fine enough. how about at
least installing it instead of behaving like this? you come across as if
someone wronged you... makes you look real spoiled. how about fixing it
yourself, it's working perfectly for many of us. It's real aggrevating
sitting here, mine performing fine listening to this babble. every
gamebreaking bug so far has a counterfix, either by mod or by some easy
steps. Bury your pride and try to enjoy what you have.

Players on consoles don't have the (debatable) luxury of player created fixes for the game, or the expansion. I don't use them either, out of respect for those that don't have the option.

I don't use them because I am the suspicious type. Fine if folks trust their sources, but I just err on the side of caution after reformatting one PC from downloading mislabeled content that was actually a virus.

I'm saying PATIENCE, wait a few more weeks . . . because the longer we wait, the more fixes will be included in this patch. I want that Silverite Mines bug fixed in this patch release, not the next one or the next one after that.

Yes, the game works for me but it's not perfect. Honestly, I don't think it will ever be "perfect". I sympathize with those players who cannot enjoy DA the same as I do. But I am wanting the patch too - maybe not as much as others, but I want it all the same. I paid the same money you paid and I entitled to a fully functional, satisfying gaming experience as much as anybody else.

My posts are not meant as an insult to anyone and to anyone I insulted, please accept my apologies.

True. I think fix or patch would be difficult when what the Jowan's intention is is unclear.
I remember Jowan had few dialogue option even for magi origin.
And he is too mistrustful but he has to say I think.
In the original game, anything about Jowan was bad sign.

I just hope in the end that this game does not turn into a Gothic 3 experience for people wherein the developper has stopped support and that the fan patch almost technically is the offical patch now.

That would be sad...

Have to say that after reading about all the Problems with the PC version of Awakening, and even some copies of Origins, for the first time I'm a bit pleased that I have the console version; well, I have Origins, I've yet to pick up Awakenings thanks to the need to Shower, have Lights, and pay Rent, but I've taken advantage of the Hospitality of my Comrades in Gaming and have played Awakening on more than a few occasions; none of those Kats have ever reported *any* serious problems other than some Armor missing and the Dex bug still being a pain in the backside for Rogue Builds.
Image IPB

However, it seems you PC folks have it rougher than us console users for the first time thanks to the last Major Patch essentially "Breaking" some versions of the game depending on what System Spec you have. I mean, you still have access to Mods and other Fan Made content, and for that I'm insanely Jealous, however, once this Patch makes it to 360 (you'll likely get it before we do) most of the major hiccups for the console versions will be addressed, so I'm happy for that at least...
