Hey.

Was wondering if there's a way to disable the graphic effects for buffs.

Maybe I'm a unique snowflake here but my character is currently affected by three different weapon effects (flame/ice/telekinetic), mage armor, blood magic, miasma, song of courage, combat magic (with lvl 14 talent to make me transluscent which makes hanging out with the ladies really interesting), shimmering shield, stoneskin and as the occasions call for it heroic defense/offense and haste.

While I enjoy being a beefy unstoppable wrecking ball, I'm not particularly fond of the giant particle effect party I've got going on.  While these effects are fun at first, they get tiresome after awhile.

Hopefully I'm not the only one plagued by being a purple flaming spirit with pink butterflies following me everywhere and someone that knows what they're doing can hear my plea.

Gracias.

I totally agree. I had two of the "Rally" auras running on my two tanks. The buffs stack but, each time someone stepped out of range and then back in range, the sound effect would play again. This became really annoying after awhile. Two golden disks under their feet and stupid sound effects.

I agree as well. I would rather not use buffs and be able to see my char. I'm a huge fan of subdued or invisible buffs..the little icon in my tray is all I need to know if somthing is running.  In the books and movies the heroes are not big moving balls of light. I got rid of the 'fire dmg' run on my sword because I didn't want a flaming sword strapped to my back all the time.Posted Image

Too bad no one has answered this thread cause I have the same problem. It's anoying enough to wanna quit playing after a while... And even worse when going into movie chat mode and your damned character glows in front row of the action so all screens are polluted with the aura.

Someone please help with this question...

A 2 min Fix for remove the area aura effect.

http://social.biowar...ct_file_id=1318

NOTE:

You should utilize WinZip/WinRar OR rename the package to .ZIP for manually unpack the .ERF files.
The extracted file should be copied to your "override" directory, usually located on one these path's;

"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Dragon Age\\packages\\core\\override\\" for x64 bit system

"C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age\\packages\\core\\override\\" for x32 bit system

This is a good start, but it doesn't touch Rally or Miasmia, unfortunately.  Has anyone tried IKe0s's contribution?

I agree with the OP, these aura visuall effects are terrible. The buffs/debuffs themselves are sweet but next playthrough im simply not taking any aura that has a visuall because it makes the game so ugly that id rather go without. Id rather not get an unoffical mod to disable it (dont trust them) but if Bioware could see fit to include say a "disable aura effects" option in the game options next patch that would be awsome. =)

Well, what I did was plain simple - I didnt approch by adding further script for block the effect, instead I just removed the reference utilized in this case to render the aurea effect; so, no "permanent" side effect.

Is it me or I just simply don't understand a damn word of what Ike0s is saying. I've tried both of your solutions and I've come to realize that I don't have a ...\\core\\override folder. The full path I've found but within ...\\core I have not found a folder named OVERRIDE. Is this something that I must create or download or purchase?

If anyone has an Idea as to what I need to do, please give a helping hand and save a poor soul from running mad!

Thanks,

Under your "core" installation directory, make a new folder > right click - new > folder // and name it
"override" ( w/o quotation ).

The path should look like*;

"C:\\\\Program Files (x86)\\\\Dragon Age\\\\packages\\\\core\\\\override\\\\" for x64 bit system
and
"C:\\\\Program Files\\\\Dragon Age\\\\packages\\\\core\\\\override\\\\" for x32 bit system

*w/o so many annoying blackslash
