What ammo is best for Geth at high level? I'm lvl 58, playing hardcore, and Geth are taking a LONG time to die. Tungsten only goes to lvl VII, what is best for Geth at high level?

I'm also seeing mercs that are COMPLETELY unaffected by Inferno X rounds!!?!?!? wtf??

I know it's a scaling issue, especially when a regular pirate takes 3 shots with Explosive X from my sniper rifle!

Recommendations for Geth, and mercs/pirates?

Keep using those Tungsten Rounds, it really doesn't get any better than than for taking down geth.

I wouldn't say so. Inferno Ammo level X is a deamon at killing'n'buring anything in your path. I'd say its the mnost universal ammo in the game (opinion based on my soldier experience)

For geth it doesn't get any more effective than tungsten VII. For organic foes, stick with shredder VII. Other ammo types are situationally useful, but they lack the damage output of tungsten/shredder. Of the level 8-10 stuff inferno and sledgehammer are probably the most generally useful, with explosive occasionally so.

you'd think that there would be a Tungsten X, or something to substitute for it; the way the scaling seems to work makes it really hard to fight battles at high levels, actually harder than at mid levels

I use Inferno X all the game and I have no problems at defeating anyone.

Generally speaking the Tungsten/Shredder combo is best for your character.

I usually give one teammate Inferno X, and the other a poison round like Sledgehammer X. This does two things, one it gives me broad damage capability for long term damage for regenerating enemies and immunity based foes. The second thing it does is to let me know who is shooting me in the back so I can move them away, red or green flashes.

As far as explosive rounds go, they are generally a waste of time at higher levels. They add only 20% damage versus 40% of tungsten and make you wait to shoot again longer than a different load. In my sniper rifle I use the tungsten/shredder with Scram rail x and Frictionless X, since I can fire of 5-6 rounds fairly quickly each doing +70% damage rather than having to wait on cooldowns for 1-3 shots at +79% damage with dual Rail extensions VII(each +29%) and explosive(+20%).

Red or green flashes, that's funny, sad, but funny!

I thought the explosive rounds did +400%damage ( or something like that) ?? And it looks so cool to see bodies flying 20 feet when you hit - but they shouldn't get up after that!

I guess I'll try Tungsten/Shredder and see if it takes 'em down any faster. I've only had a few problem areas where it was a struggle - the Neutron purge aftermath, some of the Husks mass attacks when a dozen rush you at once. Mostly it's just suprise/disappointment that it takes so long to kill the bad guys

Explosive X is +28% to weapon damage, +500% to heat and weapon force. It's mainly useful for the area of effect. You can sometimes shoot cover and have it hit enemies behind cover, other than that the heat effects are just too high for it to be really useful.

Here is the list of ammo and their effects/penalties
