installed the 1.01 patch today. everything was fine. restarted the game about an hour later and now all of the text is gone in the game

on the main screen all the text is gone, but i can mouse over and click on things like resume game (box highlights, but no text that says Resume Game), also inside the game, any and all text on icons and all mouseover tooltips no longer appear

any ideas? i'd rather not have to do a full reinstall
