Both are models looking for work
Bioware is making a game, and using newer technology enlists the help of models to create a realistic portrayal for a character they have in mind for the game(motion capture)

They did the same for Mass Effect
Maxim finds out they used hotties, and voila, they post the pictures of the models used and compare them to the game counterpoint

What's so wrong with it all?

Also--it's NOT just some 'likeness' photos of random models that maxim thought looked like the characters(some people seem to think its that)

It's the actual models which were used by bioware to capture the character's movements and etc
Whether you think they look like the character or not is irrelevant

Morrigan is the daughter of the Witch of the Wild, the Witch of the Wild asked the late king for an unspecified promise, after which she spent some hours alone with him. With Cailan dead a few hours into the game, there's no known heir to the throne, do the math.

Besides, she's designed to appeal to the standard video gamer demographic. Strong, intelligent, witty, likes to wear kinky outfits (and has the looks for it) and can turn you into a fireball with a thought? It's the perfect gal for the guy who lacks all of those qualities.
And for me, naturally.

Is It Bad That I Was Actually Disappointed With The So-Called RL Counterparts? I Can Walk Onto The Local Community College Campus And Find Women Who Are Hotter, Possibly Smarter And Definitively Kinkier Than These Gals. Sigh. I Just Want To Play The Game, There Was No Need To Try And Pimp Out These Characters.



But I Will Admit That Maxim's "Leliana" Was Much More Attractive Than Morrigan.

Really? I thought Leliana's girl wasn't to my liking. I don't dig those tattoos and her scene look. In NSW/Myspace she is a dime a dozen. The other girl is... okay but iunno. Neither of them do anything for me.

Wow, that was difficult to read.

As for the girls, I think Ms. Alleykatze is very lovely. However, the comparison pictures seemed silly at best. *shrug* I'd have preferred a more than strenuous connection between the ingame and the model picture.

Never read a Maxim other than the DA:O 'article' personally, but from what I've heard in this post and from other sources, the majority of people who fall into both the target audience of Maxim and players of video games don't sound like the type who would appreciate or understand a good RPG. This is me stereotyping people, but those folks probably don't find games in which you don't kill anything for longer than 20 seconds interesting.

They probably could have better spent the money they gave to Maxim on an advertisement on the side of a bus that travels exclusively between a nursing home and a lawn bowls club.

On the topic of the models-to-ingame comparison, I don't see a connection between the two myself, other than being female and having the same colour hair (at the time of the photo shoot).

Who said they are? Although linking it to scantliy clad real women in a magazine that is pornographic isn't that far away.

Anyway I'm joking if you didn't realise. Just taking a very silly (IMO) piece of behaviour by EA and exaggerating it for further silliness. Now ,where's my collection of Archdemon whips?
