Right. As if you haven't already insulted every employee, critic or fan who disagrees with your assertions.bjdbwea wrote...
I don't even know what you're trying to accomplish there, Ecael. I will of course continue to voice my opinion and I hope that you and others will refrain from attacking me or anyone who does the same. I for one abide by the site rules, as should anyone.
bjdbwea wrote...
That wouldn't go well with the new target audience of casual gamers. Depth and thinking are out in video games.
The "professional" reviewers at least seem to suggest nothing less. Which certainly doesn't improve my opinion on the game, but lowers my opinion on the reviewers even further.
It was bad and lazy design in DA, it's bad and lazy design in ME 2
They have had good success in cutting corners without their audience noticing it. To me it's obvious though.
The mass market casual gamer isn't exactly predictable or reliable, is all I'm saying. Alienating and ignoring long years faithful fans isn't the wisest move, I think.
I for one about had it with BioWare/EA anyway, and their behaviour is only one more reason I probably wouldn't even give them my money if I had an interest in the content. You can complain a thousand times on a forum, but your wallet speaks much louder.
But that was the intent, wasn't it, when they decided to dumb down and mainstream the successor: To draw in many new players, especially shooter fans.
But it is not our decision. As I said, what brings the most money will be done. If that's Liara content, it will happen and screw everyone who doesn't like it. Not my opinion, but theirs.
What really annoys me is that the video game industry is in such a bad shape, and that so many people are so stupid and superficial today, that no other company seems to be able or willing to try and create games of the kind that BioWare used to.
And as I said, even if you do like the chance to have a romance with Garrus, the whole thing is just badly written, has too little dialogue and feels very forced (probably because it is, since BioWare apparently caved in to the screaming).
If we consider that a big number of buyers had to be ME 1 and RPG fans, the idea of dumbing down the game to appeal to a broader audience (namely shooter fans and casual gamers), doesn't seem to have turned out as successful as they might have hoped. There are two possible reactions to that: Go into the other direction again with ME 3, to at least keep the current base happy. Or try again and dumb down / shooterize it even more, so that maybe next time the new target audience responds.
It's much more acceptable if the developers overlook things or cut corners when they at least give the community the chance to fix things themselves.
This is an issue, probably due to having to push the game out of the door, but that doesn't mean the paying customers have to accept it. Nor should we. The more you let "them" get away with, the worse might ME 3 again be.
Criticism in one single thread that BioWare-employed moderators can simply ignore. You seem to think constructive criticism is generalizing gamers and developers, because the masses obviously can never be right. To the dislike of some, these forums still allow criticism, as has recently been confirmed by a mod in the other thread. And that's it. Maybe some has something on-topic to say, instead of dicussing other posters?

I posted the most relevant piece of information to this topic on the first page of this thread and you completely ignored it with your typical "BioWare/EA is dumbing down everything for its audience" spiel.bjdbwea wrote...
So are you just a fan of my posts or did you really search for those (none of which are in contradiction to the site rules by the way, even less to their current general application) to make your "point"? Anyway, I'll leave it at that. If you continue to discuss other posters instead of the topic, I trust the mods deal with it sooner or later.
Then you continue to talk about yourself and how you don't insult anyone, you just "lightly" criticize them.
Stop trying to play the victim here when you are the aggressor. Or perhaps consider my descriptions of you to be "constructive" "criticism" toward your complaining.

Did anyone accuse him of violating the site rules? I thought the charges were that he insults people, ignores rational arguments, and whines a lot. Only the first of these can possibly be a violation, and even then not in all circumstances.

Indeed. I just hope you're not the next one to be attacked and insulted for voicing your opinion. Isn't what you said what every fan of the Mass Effect series wants?
God, I hope its what we all want.
It's impossible for everyone to want what you want. Plenty of fans liked the ME2 story thus fine and thus don't see there being anything we need to go back to, and not everyone likes free roaming in their RPGs. I thought most of the UNC missions had no business in ME1 in the first place.
As for the thread topic, it's so idiotic that we can't really discuss it. ME2's pricing history is completely ordinary.

That was literally the last time (1 month ago) that a BioWare employee participated in any conversation in a Mass Effect thread (now it's just locking threads), and he got fed up with the dismissive posts by another Liara fan.Stanley Woo wrote...

Like I said before, if your intention is to get BioWare to stop listening to the people on the forum, then you're doing great.

I was at Gamestop yesterday, I saw that a good fairly new game like Mass Effect 2 dropped to 40 USD, when an older more mediocre game like Modern Warfare 2 was still at 60 USD. What the hell? They released a demo 5 months late just to try and draw sales in. What the hell is wrong with people? Anyone else kind of mad at the price drops?
If capitalism sickens you, then I have no idea how you function.
Yes, because simply everyone must love capitalism! Oh gosh, how I cannot LIVE without it!
... You're being ignorant. Not everybody has to love capitalism. It's an economic system that leaves a lot of people behind without a second thought, if you haven't noticed. Primarily the mentally or physically handicapped, as well as the elderly.
Umm... except that's not what he's saying? He's wondering how they survive if it's actually sickening to you, since it's everywhere. He wasn't defending it. Try reading before launching attacks.
Bingo.
I don't like paying $65 to go to Universal Studios (bad example, as I have an Annual Pass), but t's not going to help me any to throw a ****fit about it. Same reason why I never joined any protests at UCSC (well, except the teachers strike[s]). They all seemed to be giant temper tantrums for things that obviously wouldn't be changed by a picket line.

You speak the truth, i guess i wasn't the only one calling out that liara fans hypocrisy. Seriously, its like every liara fan hates the second game, insults whoever designed the game/liked the game and then play the victim when they get attacked.Ecael wrote...

As a side note, you can get Thief for 3 bucks. If you don't have it, now would be the time to get it.

1. People are sickened by the price drop for ME2. What, do they feel jipped they have to pay full price? Someone please tell me why a price drop is BAD for buyers.
2. There seems to be a general consensus on this thread that bjdbwea is crazy and irrational for hating ME2, yet the general feeling I've got from these forums is that people HATED ME2 and that it's a dumb shooter (maybe that's just from spending too much time in the character appreciation threads). Personally, I loved the game, and I was attacked when I said it was a GOOD game.
Man, I'm confused right now. I need some air.
