Hey, on Samara's loyalty mission, has anyone allowed Morinth to kill Samara, thereby getting Morinth on the team instead of Samara. If so, is it beneficial, in your opinion?

Morinth has some interesting dialog, and her special power Dominate is extremely handy. Other than that, I muchly prefer Samara as an overall character.

yeah i do it all the time, just because i hate samaras holier than thou attitude. gameplaywise they are almost exactly the same. they have the same powers and whatnot, the only difference is the "extra" power. morinth's dominate will let you take control of an unshielded organic target. samara's reave will damage armor and barriers, and drain health. it depends on the direction you want to go, i think samaras power is somewhat useless since both miranda and thane have warp.

Reave is actually one of the best skills in the game. I always kill Samara on my Renegade playthroughs, however.

Does the rest of the team know that it's Morinth, or does she assume Samara's identity?

She assumes Samara's identity. However, several crew members do comment on her acting a little odd (Kelly and Kasumi come to mind) after the mission.

I think EDI remarks about her weight change also.

I find Morinth to be a more interesting character. I've heard Reave is more beneficial than Dominate, but truth be told I don't think I've ever used Samara post-loyalty mission.

Samara: "Okay, you go in unarmed and helpless and lull her into lowering her guard."

Shepard: "Allright, make sure to save me"

~Shepard goes into Morinths apartment~

Morinth: "Hi there"

~Morinth tries to kill Shepard~

Morinth: "Huh, didnt work. Guess i will have to...."

~Samara enters and saves Shepard~

Morinth: "Crap! Im as powerfull as she is! Kill her and i will do what she already is!".

Shepard: "Sure!"

~Shepard kills the person who just saved his life, leaving him defenceless with the sociopath she just saved him from~

This is the part where you are wrong if your Shep can resist her charms. Morinth can't harm him afterwards.

Oh? She does not have a gun? Or.....i dunno more biotic power than all but two humans (neither of whom are Shep).

She wants his/her "soul". She can't kill him with conventional means. And her charms are ineffective so she's stuck with you as long as you don't have sex with her.

She wants to escape.

For a biotic of her power, snapping an unarmed unarmored human in half would be easy.

Then she could continue her life even better than it was before (no longer has to hide from Samara).

The only thing that saves Shepard is she got bored and Shepard is interesting. For now.

Besides, resisting her once does not mean you will be able to do so forever.

What if she waits for you to fall asleep? Or get drunk? Or drugs you herself?

Shepard is an engine of destruction. He/she can whoop her blue ass anytime. You can ask a renegade interrupt killed Grunt if you wish. Other than that, we don't know about the asari mind meld enough to suggest that she can rape him while sleeping or in a drugged state.

Your argument is basically "Sheps so badass he can kill anything no matter what".

Im not buying it.

You are unarmored and unshielded.

One bullet, one warp, one throw and you are dead.

An adept or vangaurd may have a small chance, as they use barriers and not shields, but they still wouldnt be able to win.

Engineer a tiny bit of a chance, as you rely mostly on your omnitool, but your still as vulnerable as a shifty looking cow without armour and shields.

So an adept/vangaurd might be able to escape, an engineer maybe but none of them could kill her.

This was one huge problem with the choice between the two: why?

You are assuming that Shepard can be caught off-guard or in such a vulnerable state.

I agree with this. Samara seems to not only be a more powerful biotic than Morinth, but the choice seems less renegade and more pointlessly evil.

Shepard already is in such a vulnerable state.

The only difference between choosing Samara and choosing Morinth, apparently, is that Morinth has one different skill- Dominate- and that skill can be mildly useful depending on your play style.

However, Reave is better in most combat circumstances, to get Morinth you have to kill someone who doesn't deserve to die, and even if you have Morinth she'll have no real 'offensive' powers, just throw, pull, and dominate, the last of which only works on organics.

Dominate is pretty awesome. With that and AI hacking on your squad, you can handle any situation simply by turn-coating the enemy.
