I've just reinstalled this
on Steam yesterday after not playing it for ages, it won't allow me to
save my progress in-game, it downloaded all my available DLC but won't
show any of it in the installed DLC tab and whenever I exit the game, it
resets everything to default, every single thing! It's annoying,
there's no way to play it the way it is, I can't even manually install
Patch 1.03 because it won't allow me to direct it where to look.Is
there any way to fix this problem?

I'm going to try a full reinstall, but if anyone can put forward any suggestions please, just in case that doesn't work...

I hear you, I really don't think I'll ever buy anything else through Steam, or anything that's Steam reliant, it's a good idea poorly executed.

Several people have exchanged a Steam digital version with EA\\'s own digital version, using the Steam "CD Key" code just as if it was a hard copy CD Key code.  I don't know the exact procedure, but the EA store site may be self- explanatory for all I know.

It's not only steam.. the digital download version of the game is completely f*cked..

I downloaded it through Telia and i've had problems since the beginning ..

"You are not connected to the internet" "game fails to launch because of awc.dll please reinstall the game" "Unauthorized content" and then no bloody content at all.. fkin bollocks

I have already tried the guides on this forum on how to correct it, i've reinstalled the daupdatersvc.service several times, reinstalled the game several times.. nothing works.

I have installed the game directly from EA download manager instead of installing it through Telia.. it is just the same at the moment.

Don't worry guys you aren't alone. I have the hard copies of Origins and Awakenings and my games are still as karked as yours are. Sorry I don't have any better answers for you but I'm dealing with a gamebreaker right at the end of the game with Alistair not appearing and if ANYONE knows a fix for this I NEED it YESTERDAY...other than that if I see anything I can help with I sure will. Godspeed and May the Force be with you...

At least you can play yours, I'm not able to sit and slog through the game in one sitting, as much as I'd love to try.

I've personally had no problem with any steam game, including DA:O that wasn't reported in hard copy versions of the game.

1) If you downloaded from steam you should be at 1.3 already.

2) the save problem could be caused by your bioware save file directory being read only, or not having proper permissions.

What version of windows are you running?

If you actually meant to say to reinstall Windows, that is what you should write.  Normally that is the last thing to try after reinstalling drivers, and PhysX, and Direct3D, and then the game.

AND, a Repair Reinstall is a potential option that greatly simplifies the process, and is always worth trying.

I think anyone would understand what I mean by saying reinstall the computer, as the computer will not run without an OS, and presumably he is using Windows.
I can say either of them, it does not matter.. this time I chose to say reinstall the computer, and it is not wrong at all.

Parting shot:  when I reinstall a computer, I am physically moving mainboards between enclosures.  My daughter in law's case has a bad switch, and I cannot find one that is a good replacement (switch), but I have a spare case that was never used, so while it's not a current model, it has a perfectly operating switch.  I will be transferring all of her hardware from one case to another.

I will not be doing anything at all to the operating system.  The steps I will be taking in a little while (I haven't had my breakfast yet) certainly amount to reinstalling her hardware / computer.

Eh? Reply shot: That is when you reinstall the HARDWARE.Posted Image
I think it was quite obvious I mean't the SOFTWARE.. the computer of the person that created this thread probably has no problem with his hardware, just some faulty files (Software)
I reinstalled my OS and now the game works perfectly, this is why I adviced the topic creator to do the same if he could.
It is quite pathetic to try and start an argument about why I said reinstall computer instead of operative system.
There is no need to point out the difference between hardware and software, what I adviced lies completely in the software department, if you used your brain to think logically instead of trying to pick holes in people's posts (what you did with mine) you would understand this.
This is no court room, it is a gaming forum.
I don't need to describe what I mean with 100% accuracy (hence why I said reinstall computer instead of OS) , I made a quick post to give advice, and he understood perfectly what I mean't (as far as I can tell) but you did not, because you are looking to start silly arguments.
Better luck elsewhere my friend Posted Image
