Okay, I just re-read the description, and this sounds like it's taking place right after ME1. Probably at some point shortly after Shepard is killed. Captain Anderson? Hmmm...where could Cerberus have gotten Reaper technology? Not from the wreckage of Sovereign, certainly. I mean, it's not as though any of that was used in EDI's construction...

From Drew Karpyshyn's web site update on January 25th

"Basically, like the other ME books, this novel focuses on a story
not directly involving Commander Shepard,
but that still
helps flesh out the ME universe while helping to set up elements that
will be
featured in the third game."

"But there is also a little confusion
I’d like to clear up. The novel takes place AFTER the events of the
second
Mass Effect game."

Not to sound snide, but is there any point to pre-ordering books?

Little more than a week left... so excited!

It seems David Colacci will be the narrator for the audiobook version, whereas Stephen Hoye was previously listed. Tantor Media will be handling the audio version, as indicated here:

Gah, random sound startled me. Websites should not be allowed to autoplay stuff, ever.

Other than that, I have no interest in reading this. They cannot possibly incorporate the choices I have made into the book -well they can, but then someone else's choices would be ignored- so they'd have to resort to default choices. It's hard not to mention any of those details in the book, and I'd rather not find out what the standard Shepard is expected to be, even if only a few details are mentioned.

Yeah that don't make a lot of sense to me, "Captain" Anderson?

He's gonna be a council member for at least half of the people reading the book. And why would a member of the council, one of the most powerful people in the galaxy, go running off around the galaxy on a dangerous mission like this?

Isn't this exactly the sort of thing they created the spectres for in the first place?

Seems this would have been a great time to introduce a new spectre who we could then encounter in ME3.

If you've read the previous book, you should know that Drew has done a pretty good job thus far of distancing game decisions from the plots of these novels. They are not Shepard's story in the least.

Not sure how Anderson will be handled, but it's not a stretch to imagine that he was able to keep his rank as Captain. Shepard was still considered an Alliance commander even after his Spectre induction, so I don't see why Anderson couldn't do the same.

Strange way of thinking. The novels are there to expand your knowledge of the setting the games take place in, to provide a deeper look into it. They do establish canon facts, but not at the expense of player's choices. Anderson is a tough one to handle in this regard. All the more interesting to find out how it is done.

I love the novels, every moment of reading is exhilarating. Probably the only book where I’m engaged every second.

I can’t wait to see Kahlee suffer for getting in Cerberus' way....

I just read acension about 2 weeks ago and I cannot wait to get my hands on this book. You really start to appreciate certain characters in the game because of the books.

I finished Revalation a while ago and just started with Ascension. And when I'm finished with that, Retribution comes out. Good times. :)
