I have also tried using compatability mode xp service pack 3, i then get a black screen followed by a general protection fault that reads as follows,

Well, you don't meet the system requirements. Intel videochips are not supported and are not able to run the game. Only the very latest videochip from Intel is able to "run" the game, but due to severe graphical problems it's considered unplayable.

Intel has never committed itself completely to the idea that game playing is anything they care about, and even if many of the shortcomings of their chips have finally been dealt with, thety are still literally years out of date with the hardware from ATI and nVIDIA (especially ATI as regards any onboard graphics processors).Recnamoken wrote...

The particular video device that has finally come closest to what ATI and nVIDIA offer for onboard (and those aren't good enough to run games properly) is currently being tucked inside the package with the latest i3 and i5 Core processors. They are not integrated in the sense that ATI's "Fusion: is supposed to be very soon (last announced date for engineering sample production is next February), just tucked in along with the CPU cores.
They are still slow, and the images are plagued with bands of black and white mixed with the scan lines, among other problems.
