Archery shares this bug? Archery does seem to get weaker every level up even though I am focusing on DEX.

Dexterity isn't working as intended for daggers in the game.  Get it to 36 for the fourth tier of DW and the attack/dodge and put nothing else into it.  I believe there is a file out there that will rectify the issue.  I applied it and my damage went down because I had already figured out the issue so I never wasted points in dexterity.  I believe daggers are supposed to get 0.5 damage per STR and DEX attribute point.  They aren't recieving the 0.5 damage from Dexterity in the initial release.

Would you happen to know where we could find this file? Did a small search but so far nothing.

At any rage I think the biggest problem  rogues have is the fact that they can benefit from almost all the attributes so no matter what you do you have to sacrifice points in one attribute or another whereas a warrior or mage could drop all their points into 2 or 3 main attributes and never have to think about it because they simply don't have any use for the others. In a way rogues are much more about what attributes you choose instead of what abilities/spells you choose.

Here is the official link with Bioware addressing the problem.

Here is the download.  Be wary though as it also increases NPC damage as well, I believe.  I don't have it installed as it doesn't affect my rogue build.

Another link with perhaps a newer file.

Have fun in game!

I think a lot of people overlook the huge utility of the rogue activated ability talents. A DW Warrior gets the DW tree and a bunch of passives, mainly. A DW Rogue gets the DW tree and powerful abilities like Below the Belt, Dirty Fighting, and Deadly Strike. Dirty Fighting is another activated stun, Deadly Strike has a significant impact on damage against armored foes, and Below the Belt can cause you to go from constantly whiffing to constantly hitting. And don't underestimate the speed bonus from combat movement; my rogue does a much better job than Alistair at running behind enemy lines and dropping a stun on the mage about to throw Chain Lightning at us because she's that much faster moving.

Eh, combat movement doesn't actually make you run faster. It widens your flanking angle for backstab.

I got very little utility of below the belt after the early game.

Lethal strike seems pointless except to get at the other stuff on the talent tree. Too much stamina cost, and a little extra damage on one strike wasn't all that significant when my TWF rogue was hitting several times for every enemy action.

Dirty fighting is bbq from beginning to endgame, but that's kind of the star talent of rogues

Unfortunately, even if they fix the dexterity bug, we'll still have issues because daggers aren't that great and you need strength to equip better weapons, making cunning and lethality far less useful.

Coup De Grace is the best ability of the Rogues and the main reason why they're much better than DW warriors. Combine that with Dirty Fighting and some stun poisons and you're all set

Rogue damage starts to shine when you learn that you can make every hit a critical one in certain circumstances.

I was disappointed with stealth when I found out that there are several places where you can't leave an area because of enemies nearby, even if they can't see you and aren't able to attack. This game is too focused on combat for that, I enjoyed not fighting unnecessary fights in Oblivion but this sort of thing doesn't work in Dragon Age. I guess you have to see stealth more as a utility for combat preparation, sneak in, scout out enemies, lay traps and disarm the enemy's traps, that sort of thing. Oh, and of course the "oops" button if your rogue draws too much aggro.

Having a rogue as my first character, It'd be nice if they were more powerful, but I think the warriors actually deserve more attention. They have nothing that makes them specifically useful except maybe the taunt skill. Rogues at least have some unique abilities, and their damage is not entirely bad anyway regardless of any str/dex confusion bugs.
