I just finished Return to Ostagar. For the most part, it wasn't too hard. However, the Darkspawn Tunnels were a b*tch and a half. Overwhelm was bad enough, but I also had to deal with Curse of Mortality, Chain Lightning, and Web. I managed to get through it, but it took a lot of reloads.
Also, I had to kill the Genlock Necromancer immediately. No way was I going to be able to kill an Elite Boss Ogre with nothing more than 20 Lesser Health Poultices.

As far as weapon choices go, I'd opt for the backstabbing set once you you get Coup De Grace, and put some paralyze runes on your offhand weapon. You can really deal a lot of "in your face" backstabs via Dirty Fighting and paralysis, and still maximize your backstab damage with main hand elemental runes. This is of course assuming that you don't rely on spell resistance runes on your daggers, but for the most part, you shouldn't need to. Fights you do need it (such as Gaxkang) you can prepare for ahead of time, and revert back to a typical setup afterwards. I remember having good success with GM Paralyze and Expert Paralyze runes on my offhand weapon. (I think you don't get the Master Paralyze rune until after Landsmeet) Each rune afaik has a 5% chance to proc, it's just that higher level runes give you longer lasting Paralyze, so you can even use lower level paralyze runes to good effect, as even a 3 second paralyze will give you something like 4-5 backstabs.

T0rin3, I'm playing a Warrior. I don't have access to Coup de Grace or Dirty Fighting, and I can't Backstab.
Also, I finished Warden's Keep. Pretty easy, overall. I did a few things in Denerim once I was done. Nothing major, but I picked up some cash. I'm now in the Frostback Mountains. I've got the money to pick up the Lifegiver, so I'm headed into Orzammar to do so. The first fight was pretty easy, but I'm about to face off against Imrek and his bodyguards. Wish me luck.

Ohhh.. woops, wow, big failure on my part.
Then yes, Rose's Thorn / The Edge is your best bet, as the +5 damage from The Edge will offer you the biggest DPS boost for an off-hand weapon.

Alright. That's about what I guessed.
As for the fights outside Orzammar, they were far easier than I thought they'd be. I was surprised.

You're going to breeze through most of the game actually, DW warrior with high defense and armor has pretty much everything you'd want except spell resistance and knockdown immunity. So routine fights (such as the one outside Orzammar) are going to be rather simple. The fights that will give you trouble are going to be anything with a mage who can cast Crushing Prison and possibly fights with multiple shield users, but those will probably be mitigated by your high armor and defense. So yeah, Crushing Prison or mass spell damage will be bad, but everything else (including High Dragon/Flemeth) should be a walk in the park.

Since Orzamar is the first place I go when im playing (I try to get Ohgren first to bring him to circle tower for the special dialog in Origens and Awakening) ive found that intial fights can be pretty easy and can be broken into smaller groups.

I just completed the Broken Circle. The Tower itself wasn't too hard at all. The Fade was pretty easy; the only annoying thing were the Ogre guarding one of the islands, and the Sloth Demon's Ogre Form. I hate how the thing spam Ram.
As for the rest of the Tower, Uldred wasn't hard at all. He took a while to kill, but he wasn't particularly hard.
Unfortunately, I've found that I'm going to have to restart. I had to pass up one level in Coercion during the initial game sequence (Origin to Lothering) because I didn't have the Cunning score I needed, and couldn't spare the points at the time to pick up the skill. In my run through the Broken Circle, I sided with the Templars. This action made Godwin unavailable, and I'm therefore unable to complete the Precious Metals sidequest. I'm not willing to pass up that money for a mere 12 gold. I think what I'm going to do is do the Stone Prisoner quest before heading to Ostagar. That will give me the Harvest Festival Ring and the Helm of Honnleath, which will make up for the points in Strength that I'm going to miss out on when I pick up the Coercion skills that I passed on this time.

I just finished Return to Ostagar again, and I did much better this time. I've become much more confident with this playstyle, and gotten accustomed to how hard the enemies hit, so I've gotten back into the more aggressive playstyle I normally favor.
Honnleath wasn't difficult at all, even without Cailan's Armor. I had no problems getting through it, and the Helm of Honnleath and the Harvest Festival Ring put me at exactly 36 Strength, so I was able to equip Cailan's Armor as soon as I got it with no issues.
I recently gave Dual Striking a try, and was surprised at how much easier it made things. It meshed well with my playstyle. Unfortunately, I don't yet have the Stamina to support Berserk, Dual Striking, and Momentum, so I'm going to have to work without Dual Striking for a while.
My plan now is to head to Warden's Keep to drop off some of my equipment in the Storage Chest, then head to Ostagar. We'll see what happens from there.

Just finished the fight with the Corrupted Spider Queen in Ortan Thaig. Caridin's Cross and most of Ortan Thaig were no problem. The last portion (where you actually face off against the Corrupted Spider Queen), however, was a b*tch and a half. Web, Overwhelm, Crushing Prison, Curse of Mortality... It was annoying. Still, I managed to do it with only one reload, thanks to my +13 Combat Health Regen. Now I just have to do the Dead Trenches and the Anvil of the Void, and I'll be able to start running through the end-game sequence.
Also, I've not noticed any real difference with my higher Defense score. I'm currently running around with 118, though, so we'll see if my next level-up shows any major difference.

Just finished the game. The hardest part of the final battle sequence was the Market, with all the Ogres. The Fort Drakon gates weren't actually all that difficult, which surprised me.
As for the final battle itself, it was pretty easy. Berserk + Momentum + Swift Salve took care of pretty much everything. I had about as much trouble taking on the Archdemon as I did taking on the High Dragon. Less, actually, since the Archdemon doesn't have a Buffet attack (thank the Maker). I did call two armies, but only for distraction while the Archdemon was across the fissure.
For those who are interested, here are my Heroic Accomplishments, and my Character Page.
Edrin Brosca
Kills: 2710
Most powerful foe slain: Archdemon
Hit rate: 100%
Damage dealt: 711224
Greatest damage dealt: 84
Friendly-fire damage dealt: 0
Contribution to party damage: 99%
Injuries: 2
The Contribution to Party Damage is because of the armies I summoned during the final battle. As for the injuries, those were times when I died just after I'd killed the last enemy. It wasn't a game over because I had Leliana with me. She never did any damage, but I wasn't willing to pass up loot in areas that I couldn't return to. She remained in Stealth Mode at all times, and her Damage Dealt stat is at 0. It isn't quite in the Solo Run spirit, I know, but whatever. It worked for me.
