I've died by many pathetic situations and it's really quite embarrasing but also very aggrivating and I thought I'd share some of them:

1) Death by mako: Now don't get me wrong I love the mako, but I've died one too many times by driving off ledges, crashing into objects while under fire and getting stuck while trying to be cool.....it's not cool -_-

2) Getting stuck: I don't know what the hell happened but this was a very annoying situation. I was at the place where you had to see Okeer and while I was fighting I ran to cover but instead my girl got stuck on top of a wall.........a wall! Can you believe that!? I was flicking the buttons vigorously but to no avail Image IPB

3) Death by Matriach: This is from ME1 when I was fighting Matriarch Benezia and then I got hit by her biotic attack that knocks you to the floor, I then find out that the attack had bugged and results in you laying on the floor helpless (no chance of ever getting back up) until she kills your team mates and then you, all the while your head and limbs appearing to "melt" and stretch away from your body like those old fashioned stretch armstrong toys.

4) Death by dead batteries: Believe it or not, some people are still living in the Stone Age with their battery-run 360 controllers( me Image IPB), despite the fact you can buy a charger accessory that has been available since the console launched (but I can't be bothered getting one Image IPB). Imagine running into the middle of the battlefield - which is arguably the most dangerous part to run through - only for your batteries to die, causing you to stand vulnerable and unprotected, directly in the enemy's line of fire. Unless you’ve got some spare batteries lying around, you either have to shut down your console or watch as your commander takes hit after hit.

5) Death by game freeze: Most XBOX 360 owners will know what this feels like. You’ve just put in 2-3 hours straight without a save (silly you!), having advanced past a point you have struggled to complete, only for your console to freeze on you, thus ending your success and ruining your hot streak. If only Microsoft knew how damaging a mid-game freeze can be on a gamer. If only they knew Image IPBImage IPBImage IPB

Being burned at the stake for being a witch during the 1700s. It could take three hours. And if you had daughters they would be beaten while being forced to watch you burn to death.

Do I win?

I remember one time I was on Virmire, driving my mako around (as you do) and it had taken a lot of fire. My shields were down, most of the mako was red, it was a bad situation. So, instead of just fixing the damn thing, I decided to hop out when I got to the next colossus and take it out on foot. Easy enough... but what I didn't know was that the colossus had hit the mako a couple of time with its main gun and machine guns. So when I got in, the mako blew up and I died.

A guy in Africa that worked around sulfuric acid fell in. He quickly got out and was covered in it which started to burn he ran outside in extreme pain. Searing through skin, cauterizing blood vessels, and eating through organs until he died. The pain would have been unbearable. By the time his friends caught up with him he had basically dissolved.

I can do this all day.

Getting stun-locked by those damn YMIR mechs. First they fire their gigantic missiles at you, and that causes you to stagger back. By the time you've recovered their machine guns are firing and they're tearing through your shields like a knife through butter. Good luck surviving that situation as an Adept/Engineer.

The same goes for Harbinger, on Insanity. He uses that attack that staggers you then hurls blast after blast at you until you stop breathing.

Getting spammed by rockets while blue suns spam bullet fire at you (on Insanity). You know... spam on Insanity is the worst way to die (because the game isn't more difficult... the enemies just spam fire and powers at you).

Survivors of White Shark exploratory bites tend to describe the experience as relatively painless, considering what happened to them (from a mechanical perspective, thinking about tissue loss, lbs-per-square-inch pressure injuries, torsional damage, shock, post-trauma infection, etc).

I'd prefer a nice swift shark-mauling to inoperable brain tumors... having what makes you you slip away by painful degrees, nothing but the morphine to soothe you over the potential months or even years if your body really hangs on while you slowly lose cognative function and end up an agonised autonomic-funtioning biological machine.

Anything that's slow, painful, incurable and robs you of your dignity and identity has to be worse than any short-term burst of agony on the road to oblivion.

Oh, and being too close to a Cain detonation...  the embarassment hurts there.

Drowning in a cruise ship's swimming pool.

Or that time I stood under those flaming death things in Zaeed's loyalty mission.
Seriously, what are those things for again? Other than a gross workplace safety hazard.

Your'e adrift in the ocean, no life vest or even a piece of flotsam to keep afloat. A wave pushes you under...and then you see it, maybe thirty meters off - a flicker of white, barely discernible in the blue water. It gets closer. You can make out the sheer size of it, the gaping, jagged maw, the dead black eyes. You come up for air in time to see a dorsal fin cut through the surface. You know what's coming.

Wasting away in a hospital bed would sound positively luxurious at that moment.

And in game? Well, I would have to say getting torched by a Vorcha.

In regards to 4 and 5... does your Xbox not open to the dash whenever your batteries run out? As soon as mine did, the game paused, and thus I have never died to low batteries. And for 5, turn on autosave. Unless that's in regards to ME1, in which I totally agree.

But yeah, I agree with Michel1986. I was going on a no-death playthrough, and my one death was turning a corner into a pyro that killed me without trying. The worst is the one that sometimes spawns on Archangel's recruitment in the narrow basement hallway. You can't turn the corner or he'll flame you, but you can't hit him around the corner because of messed up corner hitboxes. Screw pyros.

Seems like a much better way to go to me... screw the fear. Besides, you make sharks sound like bad guys... who couldn't love a face like that? :D

Death by nagging wife.  It's a slow, excruciatingly,  and unimaginably painful death.

Crucifixion. It could last for days; you basically have to take your weight on the nails to keep from suffocating.

But I'd still prefer it to a damn shark.

Fun ways to die:

  • Using the grenade launcher to launch Shepard off a cliff on Alchera (take that, Lazarus Project!)
  • Shooting the giant steel tile on the MSV Estavanico while standing under it to get turned into a pancake
  • Shooting the fiery ceiling barrel of death on Zaeed's loyalty mission while standing under it
  • Standing on the bridge at the N7: Captured Mining Facility only to die on the shuttle as it picks you up
  • Trying to use the Conduit without the Mako
  • Trying to storm past geth ship exhaust
  • Scared of heights on Feros
  • Mako seizure on Feros
  • Benezia turning Shepard into Stretch Armstrong

I love it when the controller battery dies in the middle of my game. I just love it when that happens.

Has anyone actually tried that one before? What happens if you do?
