Just wanted to see what it was like and get a different play through for ME2.

I'm sorry Kaidan fangirls/fanboys, I wanted to like him, but Kaidan is SO annoying. Especially in the beginning. He was sitting over there, interrupting Joker, being an ass. I was like, "OMG, Bioware reincarnated Anomen from BG2." My Shep will still romance him, though, because she needs stress relief and he's halfway decent looking. Oh, and because Asari unnerve her. The Asari says she feels a connection, and my shep is just weirded out instead. They should've made Ash a lesbian option, because Shep and her were definitely getting their womance on. And Ash's got brass.

Hilarious moment: Getting back from Virmire, after talking to the council and getting grounded, and My shep and Kaidan are having a li'l intimate "shoulder-cry" moment, with some smoochy-smoochy mebbe, when "HEY COMMANDER" here comes Joker on interrupt mode. BWAHAHAHA. Oh and the scene just after Kaidan and Shep do the "deed" (whoa, but, despite me not liking Kaidan much, the love scene was GOOD) and Shep is staring creepily at Kaidan, who's naked and a heavy sleeper apparently, and Joker suddenly comms her that they're almost at Ilos and i choose, "Hey, there's still 5 minutes..." and Kaidan practically screams. "JOKER NEEDS YOU AT NAVIGATION." That was a very ODD moment. Thought Shep was gonna raise her hands in self defense and back away slowly.

One of the best scenes in the game had to be Captain Anderson punching Udina. Just fraggin smackdown on his ugly soft head *POW*. Total woohoo moment.

Loved the ending, too. I thought it was very satisfying, although Saren seemed to give in to my female charms a little too easily at the end (Paragon). I guess I think it just ended too quickly... cuz Saren was super sexy.

Now I'm gonna play ME2 like it should be; with Wrex alive (very important!!!)

Oh and my two main squadmates were almost always Garrus and Wrex with a li'l Tali thrown in there and Liara going on the mission to confront her mom. Wrex beats Grunt as a character by about a billion, no offense to Grunt, Wrex is just cooler.

I encourage others to go get ME1 if they havent already!

Kaidan gave you a compliment. So... you hate him?

:P

Also, Wrex is awesome in ME1 and ME2.

If you have the PC version, you can romance Ashley with a female character. Although if you want to use a custom appearance, it's gonna require a bit of work.

social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/104/index/2771955
(Yes, I know, shameless self-plug)

All of female shepard's lines are voiced, and if you import the savegame in ME2, your Shepard will be recognized as a female character that romanced Ashley. Might cause problems in ME3 though.

And of course I agree about ME1 being great ^_^ ... anybody who liked the 2nd and hasn't played the 1st yet needs to stop whatever they're doing, go buy it and start playing it right now.

I have nothing to contribute here. I just wanted to say that I happened to see King of Dust's profile pic and it is f-ing awesome.

Haha. Zing.

I have to say, digging up ME1 again recently I found that it's better than I remembered it. Yeah, the combat is pretty much a trainwreck and don't get me started about navigating the damn Mako (now that I think about it, it's more than appropriate that it's named "fish out of water", basically), but the story has so many awesome moments... Anderson punching Udina is definitely up there. I'd almost forgotten why I hate him.

Complimenting me? Sounded more like ass kissery! :bandit:

If I had my way, I'd be like: Settle down, dude. Joker's talking, kay? Learn how to share air. The pants are SO staying up.

But then there was the temptation of pr0n later.

I like that scene. And let's face it, Joker is being an ass.

Yeah, Joker's being his typical cynical self. :)

@Quilune Believe it or not, people *are* allowed to be snarky with other officers without it being a major incident. I actually liked that scene because it illustrated how comfortable Kaidan and Joker are with each other to be able to be so informal with each other. It humanizes them, in my opinion. We get so little interaction between the crew as it is so it was nice to be able to see some 'macho posturing' in the beginning there.

Agree with everything in the Post. I Enjoyed ME1 heartily, not the gameplay though.

I remember going from ME1 to ME2 when it came out and thinking "It's a bit different" and not really enjoying it. Then I played ME1 and noticed how the gameplay of ME2 was so much better =D

No really though, I loved ME1.

ha i just threw in ME1 about 2 hours ago to make my ultimate MASS EFFECT character. as soon as i threw it in and that intro theme music with the sweet view of the planet and its horizon i remembered immediately why i loved the game. i even let it play through to the clip with garrus and ashley of passing on the call from noveria and going to caelistan for old times sake.

its sortof weird playing it becuase ME2s combat is so gad damned in tense in comparison but ME1s story is miles ahead of ME2s. there both great and i think id consider both now tied for my favorite game tho as weird as it seems to me, ME2 is really hard to put away.

i really hope they can make ME3 a combination of the first two. probably more so with ME2 but just adding a story to the mix would be good.

and its funny to notice that the OPs last and most important must make statement was that "wrex is awesome." .......and i couldnt agree more. im actually to the point in ME1 where i just recruited wrex and i need to pick my squad. the problem is im trying to make everyone live including fist and thats a problem becasue wrex blows off fists head. so im torn between my love of taking wrex for an extra 30 minutes of gameplay and ruinging the whole idea behind my ME1 runthrough, or do i take kaiden instead?

I did the same thing, played ME2 on demo, loved it so much, I bought the game, completed one play through of it, and as I require a break in all my games before I start again, I decided to buy ME 1.

I have to say, if I had played ME 1 first, I wouldn't have bothered to play ME2.. (which would have been a shame.)

It isn't so much the lack of enjoyment of ME1, or the gameplay or storyline are that bad, but it is the pure frustration factor.

I like the Mako, and the exploring of planets. (as oppose to ME2 launching probes). But the "mini-game" can be a real pain in the a**. Everything you do requires a simon-says type input, and it can be too quick at times. ME2 has the much better way of dealing with hacking, decrypting, etc. The variations of the mini-games in ME2 is by far more fun.

In ME1 the captains quarters have little of no use (as far as I have played the game.. still playing through my first run).

That said, I think some of the things that was missed out of the second game, give ME1 its appeal too. (Mako being at the top of the list).

The Presidium allows for more exploration, which I don't understand why it wasn't so for ME2. Maybe ME3 will incorporate a lot more of the citadel in general. Afterall in the first 2, we have seen the presidium, 2 of the wards, the c-sec area, the citadel tower, and the docking area. I hope we will see more.

A ship quartermaster! ME2 doesn't have one on board. I also like the way you can stroll on and off the ship when it is docked. It gives more of a role-play aspect to the roll playing part of the game.

Oh, and lets not forget the use of going back to SOL. ME2 has the system, but nothing to do there.

Just my opinion

Do NOT take Wrex to see Fist, do the bar first THEN recruite Wrex.
My usual squad is Kaiden + Wrex for 90% of the game, last battle I mix it up but always Kaiden, usually Liara (ALWAYS people with LIFT + an unlocker, Kaiden does both). As a Vanguard I took Liara & Tali, made VERY short work of Soverign.

Oh my God, THANK YOU.

Not that I liked Ashley all that much beyond her gunpower, but Kaidan annoyed the crap out of me. I'm not going to say he can't be sweet, and to the fans I say "whatever rocks your boat", but I just couldn't. Especially because (I tend to do this) I went into the game knowing zero about it beyond the premise, and I kept holding out for Joker. Soooo, yeah. Kaidan didn't get any, and I left his ass on Virmire. Which I now regret, because by the end I wanted to punch Ashley in the throat as much as I wanted to slap Kaidan across the face, sooo...

Loved the ending, too. I thought it was very satisfying, although Saren seemed to give in to my female charms a little too easily at the end (Paragon). I guess I think it just ended too quickly... cuz Saren was super sexy.

Same thing happened to me, and my Shepard wasn't even full on Paragon. Just very persuasive, I suppose. Which also helped with Wrex, I guess. My boyfriend still mourns Wrex because he had to kill him, while I didn't.

Same here. Garrus and Wrex, invariably, though sometimes I'd switch Wrex for Tali just 'cause. And yeah Wrex is the original Krogan Of Awesome, though I really like Grunt too. In ME2 it was always Garrus and Grunt. He tanked, while Garrus and Shepard sniped. Such a good trio.

I absolutely loved ME1. Especially the RPG elements of choosing the guns and armor for my squad. I always used Wrex and Kaidan (Kaidan and Liara on Noveria - kicked Benezia's and crew's a** with kick a** biotics). If you level Wrex and Kaidan up appropriately, you actually have a very strong team.
