Starting a conversation on area load

My mod starts with a cutscene that leads into a conversation, so I just made that conversation have the cutscene as the first line.

I'm now trying to hook it up so that it starts the conversation on area load, but it's not working.

I tried:

EVENT_TYPE_AREALOAD_SPECIAL
EVENT_TYPE_AREALOAD_POSTLOADEXIT
EVENT_TYPE_AREALOAD_PRELOADEXIT

Then all I'm using is UT_Talk (which I've used in other places successfully...).

And yes I have set that script as my area's script :).

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Does the conversation work when you try to play it at other times? E.g. if you give it to an NPC?

I've been using a trigger at the point of arrival to start conversations.

Turns out BeginConversation does the trick on POSTLOADEXIT area event. UT_Talk is identical as far as I can tell but it doesn't work in that situation.
