How would I spend my points for Shale? I'm guessing he's just like a warrior so mostly strength. And how would I spec a archer rogue i'm deciding to use leliana(?) in this playhtrough but i have no idea what to spend points in im thinking dex/cunning.

For Shale, the golem requires higher numbers in CON and STR for crystals, and at least 18 DEX to fill out talents.
If you utilize a high Cunning build for Lil, you should get Lethality to make this viable from a combat perspective. She will also need a STR of about 20-24, and a DEX of 34+.

Something else to take into consideration. If you have/need another warrior to cover the tank position, Shale in Rock Aura (ranged attacks) mode generates a ranged crit boost aura that Leliana (with Song of Courage) and the right gear, can make her crit near every shot.
