I'm sorry, but Bioware dropped the ball with the Quarian race.

Seemed like you were trying to load a picture, it was the only bit I was hopeful about getting a laugh out of since the rest of your post was devoid of any worth.

You know why the hips are so big right? A quarian's suit is like a giant diaper.

Every character you love or ever will love has a creepy sub-culture of weirdos that want to actually **** that character. Just do what I do, pretend they want to **** some weird hyper-sexualised character that just shares the same name with your favorite character.

Or just try not to think about it, that usually works for me.

If I let the freaky stuff that's out there bother me about the game I'd have to turn it off every time Garrus or Grunt was on screen.

I think bringing Tali as a Squad mate in ME2 makes a hell of a lot more sense than bringing her as a Squad mate in ME1.

In ME1 you have an unknown alien that, for her own reasons, happen to have a piece of evidence you need. Very good, but hardly a very compelling reason to bring her on as a crew mate once you got what you need from her.

In ME2 you know and trust Tali. When Shepard gets a new mission his first instinct would be to get his old team back, only TIM says they are all scattered and busy. Once he find that one of them are available though, he naturally wants to recruit her. Makes perfect sense to me.

The fact that Garrus is Archangel is more a way to introduce him with a maximum dramatic effect "OMG it's Garrus!" than to provide a reason to recruit him. Shepard needs no other reason to recruit Garrus or Tali than that they were part of his trusted old team.

I don't really understand what those who complain that Tali doesn't act like the leader she is supposed to be either. Tali acts pretty tough in many scenes in the game. As soon as she is not alone with Shepard that is, because she is all gaga over him.

But I suppose if Bioware manages to make a character that simply a lot of people like, then there is always someone who is going to yell "fanservice" because she is popular.

Part of it also has to do with blatant shipping. Even when their is no true canon and you have 9 different people to choose from, shippers will always fight tooth and nail to justify their favorite romance being the canon one.

Damnit I thought this topic was gonna be about something else, you leave me disappointed.

Same here. I thought it was going to be a discussions about Quarian's in general instead of Tali rant.

For the record, I think the Quarians are a facinating race. Thier history. Thier culture. The way thier bodies have been forced to evolve due to the fact that they all live on sapceships all the time, the way their culture has evolved. The predjudice they face in the galaxy.

As for Tali, she and Garrus were my 2 favorite squadmates in ME1 ( even though I always picked Garrus and Ashley to go with my Shepard on missions ) so I was glad that they both came back in ME2. I do find however that I my opinion of Tali has dropped somewhat. I think it is because I've started paying more attention to the ME community since ME2 came out, there is just somthing about all the Tali fanboys and fangirls that make me want to distance myself as far away from the charcter as possible. There are days that I do I wonder whether we would have been better off with a new Quarian squadmate in ME2.

Still ME2 gave us an oppurtunity to interact with other Quarians, to get another perspective on what life is like for Quarians in the ME universe.

You know what is funny is that for the most part its not the Tali fans that bring up Tali outside of their character thread its people complaining about Tali fans even though they're a strictly insular group as if their mere existence is somehow offensive. I find the cycle to be one of the DUMBEST I have ever seen.

Not just characters...  Every remote concept has fetishists.  There are over 7 billion humans on this planet.  Over 7,000,000,000.  There are people who are sexually attracted to TREES.  And enough of them that it has a name: Dendrophilia.

What I find to be a real shame is that Kal Reegar can die in ME2 which means that he won't be available as a squadmate in ME3.

He was awesome and having a bada*s quarian on Normandy would have been a welcome change.

I think we have enough characters who qualify as badass. The main reason I like Tali is because she isn't a badass soldier like everyone else and has to use her wits to not get beaten into a pulp, same with Mordin really.

I'm not sure what the internet has to do with it.  Well, I guess you get exposed to more people's ideas on the net...  But I'd think an awful lot of these people would be outside more often.  Especially dendrophiles.

Not much to say. Garrus and Tali is exact same, both are alien races from ME1. There is ZERO need to them to be in ME2, but they are. So, what? My point is that if You take Tali as point for Quarian race, then Garrus is same for Turian race. If it's not, then your opinion is biased by personal emotions.

As mentioned above Tali is said to be the best engineer in the galaxy and a high standing member of the floatilla so it makes sense for her to be in the game seeing as how Shep's going to need the Quarians to help in the war with the Reapers, who better to help get them to do that than a Quarian who knows you, likes you and owes you big time for saving her life not once but twice and depending on how you handled her loyalty mission her exile.

Tali in the game makes perfect sense to me in my opinion

I used Tali as a squad mate alot in ME1 along with Liara or Wrex, I needed her decryption & electronics abilities. Her dialogue in ME1 during the missions are mildly amusing. In ME2, she isn't needed. I use Jack or Mordin along with Grunt primarily. The smack they talk is hilarious.

In both games, we are presented with a few squadmates to recruit. We pretty much have to pick them all up to finish the game. I'd rather see for instance... here are the docias on 10 potential allies, some old, some new. You have 6 slots to fill. Staff your team according to your requirements.

Maybe that's why BioWare pulled down the fan art section of the site? There were some really nice pieces (luckily I've saved them to my hard drive), but to think all the freaky stuff they have to go through to pick up good paintings... maybe they've had enough.

I didn't know they did that. What am I going to do with all this Tali/Jack slash art?

I hope Bioware's got the "appeasing to the fan base by keeping their favorite plot/characters in" thing out of their system with ME2 cause if they don't check themselves it could really hurt ME3. I can understand listening to the fans on things like gameplay and such but writing the game show only be in the hands of the writers. A great story is not some American Idol thing where fans get to keep their favorites on the show. Plot cohesion/integrity must come first or you get into that TV type foolishness where Urkel is still acting crazy even thought he's 25.

Would Ashley have been a squad-mate in ME2 if her fan-base would been more vocal?

Thank you! The ONLY reason why Tali came back was because gamers wanted to romance her. Hell, like I said, Tali seemed to have the more fleshed out romance with more dialog, more emotional dialog and a longer "romance scene" it is clear that this is what they wanted to do with Tali in ME2. Other than that, if they wanted another Quarian squadmate, they should have given us another female or even a male quarian with a new backstory and purpose and just give Tali a cameo in ME2 and then in ME3 Tali could become a party member.

The reason Tali came back was because she was "safe" same reason Garrus comes back.

Same reason Oghren Came back. Nothing more, nothing less.

I don't feel like Tali in ME2 was forced or a fanservice.

I went into ME2 not really caring about here and came out of it as a fan.

Thane counts seventeen different spoilers in the original post. That's four more than the last spoiler-topic-posted-in-the-wrong-section he read.
