I don't know if I woiuld concider her forced, she is one of only a couple tangible connections so Sheperds past, even the cameo for Liera was dark and distant. As for the romance, frankly it came down to the fact I could not stand either Miranda's self-pitty for being "perfect" and Jack's cocky attitude, even after their "changes" when you complete the loyalty missions. Niether frankly appealed to me.
Tali appeals to me because she felt far more real, besides, I can tell you right now, women that act like either Jack or Miranda in RL, are the ones I just smile and node to and walk away from. They are never worth the trouble.

Yeah, and I'm sure the Jacks and Mirandas out there are lining up to throw themselves at your feet, aren't they? Way to exercise that self-control dude. You hold out for those plucky heroines who need rescuing by a Big Strong Man.
Am I the only one who finds Tali somewhat dysfunctional? Any girl who would literally risk her life to 'please her man' is kinda codependent if you ask me.

You know which romance caters to an adolescent fantasy? All of them. Every single love interest.

Honestly, Miranda felt like the character that was meant to be blatant fanservice. Pretty much every conversation with that woman has some random shot that focuses on her ass.

You evidently haven't heard of Samara. She provides fanservice, but she's the only pseudo-LI to actively reject Shepard's interests.

In short, she's one of the few points of light in a very dark chapter of Shepard's life. And that is a big part of her appeal. Yes, she's a shy, vulnerable, nerdy girl with a nice behind, but I'd say that BioWare put her in for more reasons than just that.
I think I'm going to barf. Frickin' adolescent fantasy. I wish grownups were playing this game.
And no, Tali exists solely to be the object of adolescent fantasy, there is no other reason for her existence. BioWare shrewdly inserted this character into the game, knowing that if Tali could give all those 'misunderstood' adolescent boys out there a boner, they would keep buying subsequent chapters in the game. That's why she has those massive hips, that tiny waist, those perky-but-not-intimidating boobies, and the gask mask to cover up a face that might be too 'specific' if it were shown outright. It's not rocket science, it's easy to see the formula in action. And manipulating the male libido has been a commercial staple for millennia, there's very little guesswork to it at this point.

What´s wrong with having Tali as Fanservice? If people enjoy having her, it´s good she´s there. If you don´t, ignore her. As a squaddie in fights she´s useless anyways, and you are not forced to talk to her if you don´t want.

And guess which character is getting a lot of demand to be made full fledged romance in Mass Effect 3. If the people on this forum had it their way the entire game would be a dating sim.

Why?
According to various fan art with sexual content (Rule 34....) she has not; on the contrary, she looks quite similar to asari. Only a LOT more appalling, imo

ME3 will add sex costumes for Shep and the squadmates. The devs heard "We want more RPG." and saw all the massively popular romance-character support threads. They came to the logical conclusion about what kind of roleplaying game most ME fans wanted more of...
