Batarians and Elcor seem to be mammals as well, so they would probably have similar distinctions between sexes as humans, quarians, and krogan.

As reptiles, Drell are probably similar to either Turians (no overt differences) or Salarians (females larger on average)

Volus it's hard to say, since nothing is mentioned about their gender differences, if any, and any physical characteristics aside from their size is concealed by their suits. These being pressurized in nature, it's safe to say that they are not accurate to form as the Quarian suits are.

Hanar... who knows.

There is a female Krogan on Tuchanka next to the shaman. She will be to the right of the shaman talking to another krogan. The ambassador is to the left as you walk up the staircase.

Hanar are jellies, probably reproduce asexually, and have both organs on them. Doesn't mean they can't swap dna some way.

That's not a female. How many times must this be said?

Somewhat educated guesses:

Turians females: there are either smaller or larger than average when compared to the males (I think I saw some concept art somewhere, can't remember).  if no visible differences other than height, voices must be different

Batarian females: assuming batarians are mammals, probably similar to human anotomy (figure wise; they have 4 limbs & 5 digits per limb)--some clues from ME: Revelation novel

female Volus: more or less fat than males? (with small boobs?)

Vorcha: are they asexual? (all of them are ulgy as heck anyway:sick:)  Do we even want to know?:?

Hanar: asexual, hermaphites, or bi-gendered? (Fornax )

female Drell: assumming they give live births like mammals, despite being repetilian humanoids, they probably have a human female like anatomy (via figure)

female Krogan: figure depends on if they lay eggs or give live birth, but I think I heard in ME2 in some dialouges on Tuchanka that that they are generally smaller than males (please correct me if I'm wrong)

Quarians: what do they look like under their suits, already?!?  Grays?:alien: (I hope not!) So many want to know what the females truly look for scienftic purposes:devil:

Humans: look in the mirror

Well, here's what a female krogan looks like:

Image IPB

You can also tell the female krogan because they wear high heels and short flouncy skirts.

Shepard needs a drink to recover from what he saw after his 1st series of drinks.  What is seen cannot be unseen!:pinched:

Shepard demands sexy female turians to bang. No krogan however, you wouldn't live through that.

You know, every turian we see in both games has exactly 3 spikes on the head... except Saren, who also has 1 on each side. I wonder why...

Default Shepard would hit it

Do you think it would be a big performance hit if there was just 1 female krogan and 1 female turian, etc. in ME3? I thought it was only a performance hit if there were several walking around at once?

even if there were only one of each, that's still a whole extra model type that the game needs to load. With all male Turians, it uses only one model with different skins, which uses less memory. I don't think it'll be that much of a deal, though, with all the myriad races already on display in places such as the Citadel.

I didn't mean to imply that each species has multiple models*, I know they each reference just the one, but what I meant literally was a single part of the game where we meet, say, 1 female krogan warlord, and after that never again. So that model is only loaded once. I don't understand the programming really, but I got the impression that the performance hit would occur if several models were being used in one scene (e.g. loading all models in the game vs. loading just the squad, asari, human and volus)

*Face meshes seem to vary don't they?

It's got nothing to do with memory, this isn't a Commodore 64 we're playing on. Besides, even if every model on the screen was identical, it still takes up memory or else Mario 64 could have had billions of Goombas on-screen at once. This just seems to be a combination of (a) a slight bit of laziness (or to put it more generously, prioritising efforts) and (B) the usual way in which you generally don't see female types of very masculine fantasy races. To go into more detail for the latter point, think about how there aren't female orcs or goblins in Lord of the Rings, or female dwarves. The latter is said to exist but don't feature at all. The same goes for Warhammer, or Warcraft (though female orcs did eventually show up, like female half-orcs in DnD Bioware games) and pretty much anything else with really macho fantasy races such as orcs. I might be wrong, but didn't it also take decades for a female klingon to be represented in Star Trek? When the race is more androgynous (like elves or vulcans) you tend to get both genders from the start.

For some reason, when fantasy/sci-fi does show women as part of a fantasy race, it either takes years for them to decide how to pull them off or they just go for the all-female race. The all male races tend to be very stoic and/or warlike and the female ones tend to be wiser and gentler and more advanced. Mass Effect really conforms to type in that regard.

I think they might have thrown in a female batarian during the N7: javalin missiles launched. Every time I play and the beginning cutscene happens I swear that the batarian in the foreground looks female. It seems to have boobs and a distinctly curvier figure. But I'm not entirely sure. Here's a link: www.youtube.com/watch

It's literally within the first five seconds. I wouldn't be surprised if they threw a female batarian in randomly for kicks.

No, thats just armor. If you look at all the armor for the Batarians, it all looks the same.
