It's just a recolor of the studded leather.

On the whole I liked it. It was worth downloading.
Much better than Darkspawn Chronicles. A real story, characters you could give a damn about, OK combat.
On the down side, looked like it was done quick & cheap. Reused too many old maps, again. Very poor attention to continuity, but at least there's a hat hung on it (Lel is telling a story, spinning things for dramatic purposes rather than actually telling you what really went on).
Not much, if any, replay value.

Only complaint is the length, really wish it would have been a couple of hours longer.
Bioware if you have more DLCs like this, then bring them on

The writing was a bit shoddy and amateur, really. If you hadn't known what was supposed to happen, it would not have made much sense. This supposed moral crisis of hers is precipitated entirely by seeing an Orlesian seal on a stack of papers in a "dramatic cutscene" that essentially has us stare at Leli's un-changing face for about 4 seconds? Come on, this is so far out of character by that point. You've already had the chance to frame an innocent man for murder, which will probably get him hanged in the morning, and killed a market full of guards for sport. We know from Origins (well, if you bother with Leli's backstory anyway) that there is something "important" in those documents, but as presented in the DLC this never comes across at all.
And while Marjorlaine is just as evil as ever, there's STILL no explanation for why she actually does any of this. What's her angle? Is it just for the money, love of Ferelden, seduced by Raleigh, or intrinsic hatred for Orlais?
For a DLC devoted entirely to this singular event, to leave the actual details of the intrigue in generic shadowy land is pretty hard to swallow. More importantly, it makes the radical life-altering change happening in Leli at this point rather hard to swallow too.
Not to mention the dialogue between Leli and Marjorlaine... I mean, really? Can the BioWare writers please take a 10 minute break from their lesbian fantasy world to come up with wit and banter that can be appreciated by someone over the age of 16? Don't get me wrong, I love the BioWare lesbian thing as much as the next guy... I hope EA never succeeds in censoring that out of the BioWare DNA completely. But still, could we get something more substantive from their dialoge than just two french girls making out with words?
Not even getting into details like the over-the-top blood-spattering title screen for each character. It was like watching a really bad Tarantino knock-off. Nor even getting into the fact that everything was just reused content; not a single unique area. Recycling may be good for the planet, but it sucks for DLC. For that matter, with all the reuse, you'd think we could get something a *little* longer?
And finally, the coup de grace for this DLC... a much-hyped "unique item" with not even so much as a custom skin? I mean, I know a new mesh was a bit much to ask for, but you really couldn't get a texture artist to spend a week coming up with SOMEthing original looking for $7 a pop? Especially when you are still using the Sacred Ashes Leliana trailer art to sell the thing?
Yeah... not impressed by this one. At all.

Now on to the "review"...
Overall I enjoyed it. I'd give it 8/10. Was able to get through on hard difficulty (dying once), which is where I tend to play most of my other DAO now. As many others have said, a lot of recycled content (maps, items etc), which is why it's an 8 (and not 9 or 10). To me it was worth the $ for about 3-4 hours of solid entertainment. I missed one of the achievements, so I will replay on nightmare and try to get it, so maybe I'll get another couple hours out of it. Other than that I don't know if it has much re-playability.
One odd thing though. Near the end 3 of the cinematics/dialogues played twice for me. Anyone else get that? I'm on PC.

But as stated already, it's just the standard light armor with a purple tint.
Yup, I got that too. On PC as well.rhautanen wrote...

*Spolier Alert
1.Marjolaine does not want to be undone, so she may come to be jealous of Leliana.
2.She views Leliana's questioning as a direct challenge and threat to her authority and repuatation in front of the others.
3. She's an insane B?%&?

Leilana says that this not like "The Game", the guards in Orlais will not turn a blind eye to military documents given over. In my playthrough Leliana cared about her companions, in that way she wasn't like old Marjie. Marjolaine uses and discards people.

The question is not why does she turn on Leli in the immediate situation. It's why is she willing to betray Orlais at all? If it's such a big deal to Leli, why not to Marjolaine?

Just going to throw my whole response in spoiler tags just in case

If you’ve seen Wade's Drakeskin Armor then you’ve seen this. Its also just the armor and not a full set with gloves and boots.Wonderllama4 wrote...

Unfortunately that’s the mentality in these forums. She didn’t tell you the truth or we are getting a new version of the story. "It doesn’t matter since it stars Leliana and we don’t care…."Gnoster wrote...
I did wonder at first why it didn't take place in Orlais, but after a couple of minutes it didn't really matter that much. So she didn't tell the exact truth in DAO or something, no that important to me personally.
From a purely finansial view I understand why they reused existing areas, and even that didn't matter much to me because the story was well written (to me at least).
Having already heard Leliana’s story about what happens in Origins, playing this thing just seems half done and thought out to me. A lot of pointless killing of to many guards in the market because bards are supposed to be frontline killers now? What ever happened to blending in?
"A bard must know history so she does not repeat it. She tells the tales but is never part of them. She watches but remains above what she sees. She inspires passions in others and rules her own." -from Dragon Age The Stolen Throne. So much for not being a part of the tale.
To bad they didn’t take their time with this and expand it to actually be worth replaying more than it takes to get the achievements. They could have given us a glimpse of a city in Orlias instead of reusing Denerim. They could have also expanded a lot more on the story and the relationship between Leliana and Marjolaine as well as the other companions. Give us some real insight as to the reasons for Marjolaine’s betrayal. Even have Leliana and Marjolaine as the only members of a group for a few quests. Its never even explained as to why Leliana has 2 companions in the first place that are not bards themselves.
So much they could have done but didn’t because they wanted a quick short download.
But I’m sure I’ll get a lot of attacks/rants/flak/whatever seeing as I’m in the minority and don’t like this download as it is. The Spoiler Forum version of this topic is like walking in a minefield if your opinion as not of the majority.

It would not be that way but the tone you have for the people who did enjoy was very condescending.

I thought it was great...probably my favorite DLC so far besides Shale (who I don't think really counts since she was supposed to be part of the main game). There is not as much re-playability as say Warden's Keep that you can play anew with every new character. Still I really like the extra insight into a companion and it made me love Lelianna more. So even though I won't directly play it as much as the ones that tie into the main game, the value it adds to each game is the same because of the story it adds to Lelianna. I hope there are more such DLCs for the other companions.
I agree. I'd love to see one for Zevran and Sten.

Pros (+)
- Great story / plot / structure / flow.
- Great voice acting by Corinne Kempa (even better than Origins, for me).
- Great new music, fits amazingly well with the whole atmosphere of this DLC.
- Intresting secondary characters.
- The difficulty of the battles is just right.
Cons (-)
- The story should be in Orlais, not Ferelden and where are the chevaliers?
- I think it’s about time for the developers to create new areas and not recycle the existing ones…
- The unique item reward of this DLC, is not unique. It’s a drakeskin studded leather armor. That was lazy.
- The voice actress who did Marjolaine, lends her voice to one more important NPC of this DLC. That was confusing.
Overall, this one is a polished product though. Money well spent.

Someone will mod the armor to look better, that will have to do. All in all, I am not thrilled with the DA team as compared to the Mass Effect team (though I'd like to kick the Bring Down the Sky team in the shins). 1.03 was a very bad patch, one of the worst I've ever experienced. Sorry, that's got nothing to do with Song, which was nice and clean with no bugs I could see.

Hmmmm.... so Marjolaine's VA also did Rev Mother Dorothea?
That may be why the opening scene of Leliana in prison made so little sense to me ... I was like "is Leliana dreaming that Marjolaine is rescuing her after she was the one who threw her in prison?" Since you only hear Dorothea yelling down to you from above and don't see her, I thought she was Marjolaine ... which made no sense (unless it was supposed to be a dream).

Enemies that turn red, even if i´m in stealth mode (but don´t attack, since they can´t see me.. makes sense), guards that stand around while i´m slaughtering their night captain.. etc.
no thx to this sort of dlc
