So after braving exterior levels and feeling somewhat comfortable, I've ventured into the development of interior levels. So butchering and modifying a layout from the single player campaign, I've managed to get a basic structure created.  However, after doing the lighting, I again appear to have cause to bemoan the lightmapper.

The above is a screenshot taken from the toolset.

Now, I realise I was probably a little ambitious having those two lights right next to each other. In each pair, one is an animated light (the one closer to the torch) and the other is a baked light, but the results of my lightmap render are truly horrendous.  However, these horrible triangles occur elsewhere in the level where I don't have such an arrangement and didn't use any animated lights.

To answer the basic questions, yes, I have:
1) Deleted lightmap files and re-rendered
2) Done all the work while in the Single Player campaign
3) Posted to local and tested in game to confirm it does actually look horrible.

The other problem that can be seen above is that the selection box is actually the visual effect for the fire of the torches. At some point in the past 24 hours, all fxes (and I'm only using stock ones so far), have suddenly disappeared from within the toolset. I could see them previously, and have used them in levels, but they've disappeared - both from this level and the other levels in which I was using them. And yes, I do have continuous refresh on.

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly welcomed. Really, I will be incredibly grateful. You have no idea how much this is driving me crazy.

The triangles on the floor aren't your fault the light map data for those floor tile models is incomplete / broken. You could see if someone's uploaded a fixed version of the model of just change which model you're using. The fxes randomly disappeared on my toolset but have since returned and I didn't notice them missing in the game so I'm not sure what's up there.

As per the above post, head over to this thread where some kind fellows will likely oblige you by fixing the model.

Regarding the disappearing VFX, I assume that the VFX models are still there, and show up in game?

In which case, I've had the same issue - VFX suddenly stop playing in the level editor. Trees disappear from the area editor, too. It seems to clear when I reopen the toolset.

not adding anything new here... ive had both problems at various times though. that floor model is indeed broken, and indeed the vfx will come back if you stand on one leg, hold your nose and spin around 6 times. and restart the toolset.

just as a future FYI and to anyone stumbling across this thread, many common lightmapping problems are listed/troubleshooted in the link below, including a screenshot of that very floor model.

Thanks all for the tips. I've put in a request with our two wonderful friends to see if they can't find time to fix the mesh, which would be awesome.

I'll also keep my fingers crossed that VFX will magically show up again today. :-)
