Keep the Normandy SR-2 for ME3?

Do you think that the Normandy SR-2 will be kept for Mass Effect 3 or that it will be scrapped in favor for another ship?

I think it should depend on your choices in ME2. If you hand the collector base over to Cerberus you still maintain their loyalty and thus have no reason to get rid of the ship, it is a great weapon. However, if you decide to give Cerberus the middle finger and destroy the base I think there might be some risks in keeping it. Wouldn't Cerberus still be able to keep track of the ship? The Illusive Man also has his cameras littered all over the place and can contact you any time he wishes on the comm. Also, after what the SR-2 went through in the suicide mission I'm not sure if it's ready for another beating. There's a chance that the Normandy can be damaged quite a bit if you don't upgrade the Normandy before the suicide mission. The SR-2 has given it's all I think, and I'm not sure how much more it can take, especially if it's going to be going up against the Reapers. There's the crew as well... they can live or die in ME2, potentially leaving you with just Shepard, sqauddies and Joker.

Wouldn't it be cool to get an SR-3 in the ME3 or something of a similar design to the Normandy with a fresh new crew (aside from people like Kelly and Chakwas) and a re-fortified design? I could imagine it would cost quite a lot of money... but for what we seem to be going up against in ME3, it's worth it.

As I understood it, SR-2 has some Sovereign hardware on board that EDI is trying to figure out. That might play a major role in ME3. SR-2 is also one more parallel to Saren, being an AI ship and all.

I would prefer to keep it.

Sure why not. I'm very happy with the Normandy SR-2. It would be nice if we could upgrade/customise some of the interior in ME3 just to keep things new and fresh but I can't think of plausible reason why we should get rid of the SR-2 ( especially now that we have EDI who is more or less apart of the crew ).

unoriginal: a recon Reaper emerges next to the SR-2 and destroys it.. requiring a new benefactor to build the SR-3...

Let's keep the SR-2 my vote

I'm pretty sure that we'll keep... and absolutely sure that final decision will have absolutely no influence on that.

We don't need another ship. The Normandy is a top-of-the-line stealth warship.

It also cost money that Shepard doesn't have. Remember, he has virtually no support in the end of ME2.

SR-2 is obsolete. Give the damaged goods to Jack the pirate queen. I'm sure the council/alliance will gift you something better. Shepard keeps EDI though.

I was thinking the same thing, butif you read EDI's article on Mass effect Wiki it says she runs the tracking beacons and surveillance equpment so since she's loyal to Shepard she could shut them off for shepard, or Tali and Legion can simply remove them like the badass tech's they are.Image IPB

The Normandy SR-2 definitely stays. I don't doubt some new upgrades will be forthcoming, but I don't see a reason to waste development time on another new ship. Additionally, I very much hope that upgrades are aquired as part of (or the focus of) some missions, as opposed to "Oh, yeah...I just happen to have doomsday weapon schematics in my pocket Commander!"

I would support keeping the SR-2, but allowing retrofits would allow us to spread out and customize the ship further.

No need for another Normandy, mainly because it'd make a cheap and repetitive story.

I don't need my ship blown up and replaced again. I just want the option to repaint it. That Cerberus style is a bit too flashy for my tastes (and probably not the best thing to advertise either).

Keep it at the start, but what's to say you can change ships in the middle of the game for the reaper battle thing. You could be on a dreadnought fighting off reaper minions, who are

Planting a bomb on the ship!

Shep: Admiral hakket, permission to leave the station?

Admiral: for what purpose?

Shep: to give the reapers back their bomb.

EDI: I know what your thinking and it's crazy.

Shep: so stay here

EDI: unfortunately for us both, I like crazy.

I think I'd prefer a new ship or the SR-1 back. The SR-2 is great but it feels boring and lifeless. The grey interior feels lifeless and ugly, it has no music unlike the SR-1 and I find the SR-1's design cooler than the SR-2's.

There should be an option to sell the SR-2 while at Omega.

Then take the profits, buy a stripped down old freighter and fly to a resort world spending the rest on a all expense paid vacation for the rest of the crew. Basically admitting we can't win against the Reapers and should just get drunk and have a good time until the end comes.

There will be side missions where you can pick up Liara, Wrex and Ashley/Kaiden to go party with you.

there could be an option to sell and buy parts and shaping the normandy as you like , not just upgrating her.

EDI might stay just with a few extra upgrates.

i don't mind part of the sr-1 crew and sr-2 be in on the ship plus it can add drama to the storyline

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I want something even bigger that could accomodate minigames and my desire that ME becomes Suikoden. A floating fortress if you will.

I want to recruit an Artist that will paint a giant mural on board of me and my squadmates if I go out and buy/find paint while on missions.

For that to happen I need a big spaceship, like huge. Big enough to accomodate 108 people + myself

I like Gre3nham's idea of transferring to different ships, depending upon the mission's specific requirements. Maybe Shep's crew could fly a small gunship in one, or a battleship in another. A little space combat between ships might be nice, as long as it doesn't play like a Hammerhead-esc video game.

EDI can be downloaded into a deactivated heretic Geth body, so she can travel with the crew and connect wirelessly to whatever ship they're using.
