I like the idea of Shepard as his own agent, a freelancer as it were.

i personally blew up the base and am anticipated/hoping for some firefly-esque sorta lay-low semi-messed up ship glory before i decide to make the reapers eat a bowl of s**t soup

I want Shepard to have official ties to all the great powers and organizations of the galaxy, but to be servant of none.

That is because when it comes to women, the great powers of the galaxy are such figures as Oprah Winfrey, Hillary Clinton, Her Majesty Elizabeth, Condaleezza Rice, or Indra Nooyi.
If you thought to have any kind of ties with these women without becoming their servants you are in need of an MRI.
The lady clearly left you because she thought you were delusional.

I few people have mentioned that they prefer the SR-1 over the SR-2. What elements of the SR-1 did you like better than the SR-2, and what elements of the SR-2 did you like better than the SR-1? There's no need to mention Cerberus logos. There seems to be a concensus on that subject
- What I like in SR-1
Everybody on board have a job to do, crew sitting in front of bringht holographic displalys, no screwing around.
Also the VI comments in airlock make me feel like on actual warship.
Add to all that dark and blue background, ambient music and final effect was great.
- What I dislike in SR-2
Half of the work stations are empty, there is no reason to people sit in crew's quaters and whining about bad dinner, after all we are on sucide mission. Get back to work. Maybe EDI can perform all crew duties while they are elsewhere, so what was the point of creating those work stations in the first place?
No music while we are on board.
Engine room was not that astonishing like in SR-1. In previos Normandy drive core make impression of state of the art engine. All those moving parts and lights...mmm.
- What to do to make SR-2.1 better.
Yes, I know that crew needs to eat something but it's no execuse for having half of the stations empty.
Play some music while we are on borad. It was too quiet on SR-2.
Turn off some of the lights, and bring back dark ang blue background.
Convert obserwation decks into crew living quaters. While the ship will be docked in Citadel for instance, some crew members will apper in quaters to talk about the place where we are now. Of course there should be nice view on wards/docking bay.
Squadmates should from time to time leave their personal quaters and talk with the crew and other party members. Garrus talking with Tali about quarian immune system in mess-room would be fun.
Make cargo hold accessible. Our mechanics team can perform repairs of Hammerhead and ground shuttle, that sort of thing.
Put airlock sequence back. Logged: The commanding officer is ashore. XO Vakarian has the bridge. I would love that.
After every major mission our party members should gather in conference room to talk about it. Like on SR-1.
Remove Cerberus logos.

I know some people won't like the idea, but i'd like to see shepard get a new ship, the SR-3. The old one doesn't have to be destroyed or anything, but if we are going up against the reapers, i'd like shep to get a dreadnaught.
a) It's incredibly unlikely there will ever be a dreadnought with the SR classification, being (to the best of my knowledge) 'Strategic Reconnaissance' and at present the designation for a stealth-capable vessel.

To the best of my knowledge it's never explicitly spelled out what the Alliance uses it for, so I stole the SR-71's designated role description.Bebbe777 wrote...
Thought SR meant Stealth Reconnaissance.
Either way, highly unlikely that any SR-3 would be a dreadnought.

What I'm trying to say is we need more explosions and stuff. Gotta reboot the series and all that. It'll be dramatic, and stuff. Legion dies! But he'll be uploaded...into a Liz Sroka body...

It just occurs to me, with hindsight, what I miss most about the airlock (and yes, elevators and airlocks are, in fact, superior to load screens) is the ship VI announcing that Pressly had the deck when you left and that he was relieved when you came back. Small touches like that can go a long way to add depth and believability to a game's world, and it was a great way to remind you every now and then that you were on a military ship. Now it makes a certain amount of sense that this announcement wouldn't be there anymore on the SR-2 because it isn't strictly speaking a military vessel, but Shepard could've just said, screw all this corporate crap, we're running this like an Alliance operation - or it could've been an option that changes small things like that.
It made the SR-1 feel more alive due to small touches like that.
Also, I would rather have the elevator rides back than these damn loading screens.
In my first playthrough of ME2 I got to see more loading screens than in two playthroughs of ME1 combined.
Sure, the 360 is the limiting factor here, but the Unreal Engine 3.5 (used in ME2) was designed to stream-load data into memory when needed (just like the Unreal Engine 3, used in ME1) which was exactly what was done when you stepped into an elevator.
The Airlock is also something that I desperately want back for ME3, and having the ship staying docked until I tell it to go to another place...

No, they are load screens, just ones where you play with the camera waiting for them to end instead of just watching them until they end. I guess that's better if you direly need more amusement.spacehamsterZH wrote...

Oh, and just a head's up, you have a typo there. It's spelled "in my opinion".
Logistically impossible.is the ship VI announcing that Pressly had the deck when you left and that he was relieved when you came back. Find an XO on the SR-2 who is:
1) Qualified for the position.
2) An acceptable choice for every Shepard that might be played, Cerberus converts and dying-on-the-inside Alliance loyalists and finally free! freelance agents all together. It's Shepard's ship, Shepard makes that call.
3) Guaranteed to survive the suicide mission, as the game was designed to be playable after the suicide mission.

Sure why not. I'm very happy with the Normandy SR-2. It would be nice if we could upgrade/customise some of the interior in ME3 just to keep things new and fresh but I can't think of plausible reason why we should get rid of the SR-2 ( especially now that we have EDI who is more or less apart of the crew ).
EDI could have a failsafe to kill everyone if you flip off Cerby
Shep-Shep could want to get rid of all Cerby influence.
I vote we get a vessel the sized of that one Council one.
We could hold millions of crew members.

You know that after Eden Prime the only dialog in that room is either to Shepard or from Shepard, right? There's no actual conversation between your squadmates. Well, Ash makes a snide remark to the room, but other than that it's a place people talk with Shepard. That can happen anywhere.Tooneyman wrote...
One last thing I liked about the SR-1 was the meeting room had seats for the crew to sit and talk. This feature was really good with implementing the story. Please return it.
I also think the SR-2 is meant to feel a little isolating, as fits the story of ME2.

No, I'm pretty sure I wrote exactly what I meant to write.

These, on the other hand, are good points. I guess the game kind of makes the decision for you as far as Miranda being the XO goes - she introduces herself as Shepard's second in command to Jack and you never have any say in the matter. But post-Suicide Mission it would be a problem.
It would be kind of cool, though, if you got to choose your XO. If it only affects what EDI says when you leave the ship, we're talking about a few lines of dialogue that would have had to be recorded, and it would've been a nice addition.
