Oh yeah, I've got another one... for God's sake bring back the old galaxy map minus the freaking toy Normandy. It just doesn't make any sense. I'm fine with the mission objectives being displayed on the map (although a way to do this without covering up two other clusters would be nice), that helps speed things along, but the little Normandy going *phrrrt* as it skiddy-skids across the maps is just silly. Especially since there's no problem with navigating it straight through a sun, so obviously it doesn't really somehow show your actual flight path.

But that would mean you weren't taking him along as a squaddie!

However, it would make my suggestion of disco balls in every room all the more apropos.

im sure the SR-2 Normandy will still be in ME3, what are they gonna do, blow it up again for the opening scene, Bioware has more imagination than that

I know some people won't like the idea, but i'd like to see shepard get a new ship, the SR-3. The old one doesn't have to be destroyed or anything, but if we are going up against the reapers, i'd like shep to get a dreadnaught.

Oh, no. Not a dreadnought. What is everyone's fascination with dreadnoughts? Is it because they're big and impressive-looking? Dreadnoughts are slow, and their weapons (while powerful) are only really good at a distance. The Reaper's advanced level of technology pretty much renders said weapons obsolete, because powerful as they are, they're not enough to take out a Reaper (not before said Reaper pulled a Sovereign and just smashed right through you, anyway). The last thing I want to be in when the Reaper's come knocking is what would pretty much amount to massive deathtrap (because the Reapers are gonna go straight after Shepard, you know it, and a dreadnought-sized ship is a freaking easy target). Give me my quick, harder-to-hit little Normandy any day.

Er, no? I'd rather not leave a cloud of radioactive vapor in command of my ship.

I few people have mentioned that they prefer the SR-1 over the SR-2. What elements of the SR-1 did you like better than the SR-2, and what elements of the SR-2 did you like better than the SR-1? There's no need to mention Cerberus logos. There seems to be a concensus on that subject :)

The outer design of the SR-1 has far more character than the SR-2, mostly around the design of the engines.  SR-2 just has big delta wings with the engines affixed to them like a passenger airliner.  I really miss the cool little turian-influenced design that the SR-1 had of making the engine "wings" tuck in underneath each other when the ship jumps to FTL.  Also the twin-tail empennage on the SR-2 lacks the distinctive profile that the high-tail empennage gave the SR-1.  Frankly, the SR-2 looks like it took the fuselage of the original Normandy and stuck a modern jet on the back of it.  The result is rather bland.  The first one was more unique, and really looked like it was designed from the ground up to be a starship.

The white and yellow paint scheme really has to go, too... it's just not as pleasing to the eye as the gunmetal and black of the first one.

As far as the interior of the SR-2, the main problem I have is that there is a loading screen between decks.  It makes the ship feel like four separate levels, not a whole ship.  I like that the inside is more spacious, I like the captain's cabin, but I miss the real working elevator and the accessible cargo bay.  I miss going through the airlock and actually walking out onto the world you just landed on.  Your only choices with this one are to be on the Normandy in space, or on a planet.  The first Normandy just felt like a whole ship.  The second feels like a series of rooms.

The SR-2's engine core.  I was... not impressed.  It felt like a big disco ball, not an engine room.  I also thought it very strange that you had windows looking into it from all decks of the ship.  The first Normandy's engineering really captured that engineering feel, even though it was tiny in comparison.

As someone else mentioned, I actually do not enjoy 'flying' around on the galaxy map.  I'd much prefer to click a system, zoom in, choose the destination and let the navigator and helmsman get me there as if they are, well, doing their job.  Shepard doesn't pilot the ship, she tells the ship where to go and the crew makes sure it goes.

What I liked about SR-1 and SR-2...

SR-1:

1. Not having to fly away and re-dock every time I entered my ship like in ME2.

2. Decontamination sequence for immersion.

3. Saluting crew members.

4. Council debriefing.

5. No flying around map, navigator Presly gets me where I need to go.

SR-2:

1. My own cabin.

2. Restrooms.

3. Views such as space in observatory and the dock/hangar bay.

4. Crew living spaces.

5. New crew members with dialog.

6. EDI!!!

Maybe the normandy could look different depending on the the decision you made at the end of ME2.

If I had to say, I would say we keep the SR-2. At the end of Mass Effect 2, the Normandy was damaged quite a bit. We could keep the SR-2 and upgrade it quite a bit and just say it was part of the reairs.

I liked the SR-1 better for a couple of reasons, none of which are major, and the preference isn't a big deal.

First of all, the lighting. The SR-2 was too bright, the SR-1 was much more atmospheric.

Second, the music. Being on the SR-1 felt less like you were out of story mode. On the SR-2 it felt more like a hub (which, technically, it is) whereas the SR-1 actually felt more like a ship. It's hard to describe the reasons, but I think the music contributed. In fact, the lack if ambient music in non-combat situations in Mass Effect 2 was a downer for me generally speaking.

Third, and most important, the elevators. Removing the elevators is the single worst thing in ME2. It completely ruined any sense of continuity between different parts of the ship. In Mass Effect 1, it all felt like one big ship. Sure the elevators were slow, but that's what I was thinking, 'the elevators are slow', not 'the game is taking too long to load'. I want to feel like I'm moving around the ship, not teleporting from room to room.

Story-wise, I highly doubt they're gonna try and pull off the destruction or other loss of the SR-2, since its been done before with the SR-1. As I always, say Mass Effect follows the trilogy archetype, and the second act of a trilogy always brings radical changes, including the SR-1's destruction. For the third act, the stage is set, so I doubt there will be anything very new as opposed to what you have at your disposal.

While I really liked the changes to the details and crew and I hope we keep crew and ship, the new Normandy felt too big. I don't mean too many rooms or things like that, just far too much comfort. Looking at the bridge it doesn't have the feeling of a real ship, a it has waste empty space. Broad paths. Looks like a lot of "wasted" space for a military ship (even if not build for military).

Except for that, I really hope we can keep the ship. Maybe remove that Cerberus BS, to make it clear its Shep's ship and no one else :D

Personally I would like to trade it in for a more heavily armed and armored ship, also with stealth systems. I do not mind hiding and sneaking when the situation demands it, however the ability to go toe to toe with an enemy can be just as useful.

Just have to keep EDI though.  Maybe remodel her avatar in the image of Tricia.  That eyeball on a pedestal thing is kinda creepy....

I agree.  I didn't mind all the objectives being displayed, though it was a bit crowded, but the little ship was sort of strange.  I understand that it shows how much fuel I'm using, but how about a little gage on the side that shows full and empty.

I think the Normandy will get a refit in ME3 after what it's been through in ME2 and possibly a name change depending on your actions, maybe Shanxi.

from the looks of it we can't really reach a concensus some think that the dark blues are cool (me personaly) and others think that the bright colors of the SR2 are better.
So IMO Bioware should make the ship costomizable by sending it to dry dock somewhere maybe at Allience HQ or wherever.

Costomization would probably be the easiest way of appeasing all the that the fans want from ship color and uniform color to ship upgrades and components.

Also i liked the SR2 better all around but was bummed i couldn't go to th cargo hold i am the CO after all shouldn't i be allowed to go there. i also liked the seprate crew areas but have them move around once in a while (I want to be in the CIC and turn around to see Gerus comming out the elevater wanting to talk.) The look of the CIC on the SR2 was cooler then the SR1 I just like the colors from the SR1 better

The SR-2 when fully upgraded is a state of the art ship which packs the fire power of a much larger vessel. Same punch as a heavy cruiser, faster more manoeuvrable plus a stealth system. Oh and a double bed for sexy time, wah wah wee wah.

What's not to like? Just needs to loose the Cerberus livery.

I would say that keeping the main craft would be good but a major retrofit has to happen! The craft got shot to hell during the end mission and you need to patch it up. Why not use some of the metal from the dead reaper we have? I mean seriously we have had 2 years to reproduce the materials and you can't tell me TIM isn't sitting on a large stock pile for a hidden fleet he is going to bring to the fight against the reapers.
