Only thing I liked better about the old Normandy was how there was only ONE elevator to get to a certain part of the ship, everywhere else was entirely accessible on it's own with minimal loading times.
But I doubt that is something Bioware could keep, little loading times in the ship and a large ship. 360 hardware limits it in this aspect.

If you guys can bring back the "decontamination chamber" and other clever hideaways of load times that'd be nice.
Load screens however, while informative where a bit bland to me.

but a new thing occurred to me just now.
Stairs to Shepard's cabin... i don't know if there we're any technical issues that there needed to be a load, but for 1 room i would like stairs. (i don't know if stairs would work for the whole ship though.makes levels confusing)or if possible, make the normandy 1 load.

Shepard needs an xbox 360 in his cabin so he can play Dragon Age in between missions.
No way, Normandy takes in only high quality equipment. Playstation 3 is the only right option.

Let's not and say we didn't, hmm? Everybody posting here has proved they own a copy of ME2, and thus by extension are old enough to be playing games rated Mature. So really, having a console war in the middle of this thread would be either admitting to falsehood or simply goddamn humiliating for all involved.

One thing that I noticed: being a Cerberus vessel, crewed by supposed human elietists... how come there were no real grumbelings from the crewers? It woud seem logical that there would be some scuttle butt about aliens being on board.
Other things that i liked vs. ME 1... a total absence of that douchie arms merchant. I mean I understand that on every military base there is something resembling a black market, but that was going a little too far.
There also, in my opinion, need to be more missions focusing on the ship itself. I liked the idea of up grading my ship, but there needs to be more than just recruiting someone and then they give you an upgrade. Make us work for it. Maybe even recruiting lower level crewers that could boost preformance, i.e. say recruiting a commo specialist that could allow for better missions or say a navigator that might allow for lower fuel comsumption... things like that. But the point stands: Make us work for it!
As for what I did not like... well for one the loading between areas. I mean you can boot up an entire level like say, Omega, but you have to have a seperate load for the Capt. Cabin? That was kind of annoying. As a result I rarely visited it and my fish all died.

I few people have mentioned that they prefer the SR-1 over the SR-2. What elements of the SR-1 did you like better than the SR-2, and what elements of the SR-2 did you like better than the SR-1? There's no need to mention Cerberus logos. There seems to be a concensus on that subject
I liked the SR-1 more aesthetically. It felt mote compact and fitted better in the role of a stealth scout than the larger SR-2.
I also miss the music on the Normandy; by some strange luck I had a bug where the map musical theme ("New Worlds") entered a loop and continued playing while I wondered around the ship, and it was far more pleasant and immersive (a problem with all "hub worlds", they're too quiet).
The color palette was easier on the eyes and I liked it better.
Lastly, and most importantly, the elevator on the Normandy. It felt like an actual ship I was touring around, with no loading screen interruptions, and it gave a sense of size (while the corridors were still a bit cramped, like on a real ship) despite the SR-1 being smaller; the loading screens on the SR-2 are a total immersion breaker if you travel often around the ship. Same with the airlock, I really miss the airlock sequence!
As I said, I really like the SR-2, but the original just had better... atmosphere, shall we say?
By the way, a dev comment - awesome!
1. Liking the airlock isn't a feature of either ship, that's game design. The SR-2 has an airlock, too. We don't see it, but we could, if they chose to design the ship-hub world transitions that way.
2. The elevator loading screens are merely a feature of the larger ship, i think - If it could have been possible to load the entire SR-2 into memory without loading screens, I am sure they would have. Ideally, we'd get mini-loading screens while in the elevator like in the ME1 citadel elevators. I can only assume that the engine didn't support that kind of thing.
Neither point is really about the -ship-, and more about gameplay choices and technology limitations.
I definitely agree that the SR-1's size made it feel more like a stealth scout than the lumbering beast that is the SR-2.. But maybe that's more a perception thing. In space, pretty much everything is small, compared to the distances combat is fought at.

Just how big is the Normandy compared to walking around the hub areas or Omega, Illium or the Citadel? Take a walk on all the Citadel floors and ask why there are no loading screens there when you can go from the top floor to the bottom.Raphael diSanto wrote...

Keep it at the start, but what's to say you can change ships in the middle of the game for the reaper battle thing. You could be on a dreadnought fighting off reaper minions, who are
Planting a bomb on the ship!
Shep: Admiral hakket, permission to leave the station?
Admiral: for what purpose?
Shep: to give the reapers back their bomb.
EDI: I know what your thinking and it's crazy.
Shep: so stay here
EDI: unfortunately for us both, I like crazy.

Do you think that the Normandy SR-2 will be kept for Mass Effect 3 or that it will be scrapped in favor for another ship?
The Alliance and Council will capture Shepard and throw him in prison for a few years. Then after the Reapers have invaded and pushed the galaxy to the brink they'll release a disgruntled Commander Shepard (now an ex-con) to save the galaxy with the SR3! They'll bring EDI back though, and Joker.
By doing this they once again conveniently remove your love interests from ME2 from the equation (all have to go their separate ways and move one, one way or another. This will also sweep under the rug whether or not you saved your crew from the Collector base.

Honestly... the Ship seemed to be the only thing that got bigger going from ME 1 into ME 2. I liked the size... I also liked the chatter from the different crewers, it seemed to give the ship more of a life of its own.
I think the crew was carefully selected to facilitate cooperation with aliens (see Kelly, for instance). Also, being human supremacist ("elitist" is something else) doesn't necessarily mean you can't work with aliens. It only means you think humans deserve to be politically and/or culturally dominant. One thing that I noticed: being a Cerberus vessel, crewed by supposed human elietists... how come there were no real grumbelings from the crewers? -Full access to the ship. The fact that there were parts of the ship that I couldn't access in the beginning (especially life-support and the AI core) made me originally think that EDI was going to turn on me.
-Stairs. Because seriously, it would have been a lot harder for the Collectors to take everyone if the only manual way to get from floor to floor wasn't just a series of engineering tunnels. Also, it would make the Captain's quarters seem like less of an inescapable trap. (My Shepard's paranoia over being locked out of parts of the ship was only exacerbated by the lack of escape routes - leading to the inevitable conclusion that she could just as easily be locked in. She subsequently spent the first few weeks of her command sleeping in the co-pilot's chair in the cockpit.)
-Full-team debriefings. It doesn't really make sense that only Jacob and Miranda are there to greet new arrivals and discuss major missions.
-More voiced messages, like the ones you used to get from Hackett.
-More inter-crew dialogue and ship activity.
-I like that the ship is brighter, but replacing the yellow-orangey highlights with navy blue and grey might bring back some of the original SR-1's ambiance.
