-To short to be really enjoyable. Playtime for this is really bad. I clocked in at just over 4 hours and I had the game on pause for a lot of that time. I would be willing to bet you could beat this in about an hour or an hour and a half at the most.
[/b]-The comic/cartoon like pause and splash of red we get when your introduced to each character you meet of importance. It was interesting when it first happens at the beginning but not through out the whole story. Did Quentin Tarantino direct this?
-Seeing Marjolaine and Leliana’s relationship together was decent but it should have been expanded on a hell of a lot more that what we see here.
.
Wow, if you clocked 4 hours on this, you're doing good.
I really liked the splash pages -- I had seen in pre-release interviews that Bioware wanted to do something different with this DLC, including being a bit more cinematic.
I agree on the relationship point -- I think it should have been expanded more to ensure that we really got the "betrayal" emphasis that I think the DLC story was trying to tell. I think they fell short on telling us about why Marjolaine's betrayal was such an impact in Leliana's life.
I clocked in at just over 4 hours and I had the game on pause for a lot of that time.
The second game that I played straight full, is at 1 hour and 31 minutes with only the final battle left to do.
Yes, I got that you had it on pause. My comment was intended as tongue-in-cheek.

I liked it for what it was. It's a DLC.. not bad for that. I do wish they at least tried to reflect what Leliana says about her past in the main game.
OK I really think there is a bug with that armour. I read the whole thread, and someone was complaining about not finding all the pieces.. I have the same problem.
1 in Denerim - check
2 in Arl's estate - check
2 in Arl 2 - Nope. Only one I could find is the in the armoury. I did check very thoroughly, twice..
1 in Chantry. This was disabled. There was no way to check the place it was supposed to be in. (mentioned earlier but I wont repeat it.)
Pretty sure there is one in the armoury and one in the "treasure" room(first hallway after exiting the dungeon) just outside of the room that enters the dungeon. Leliana makes a comment something like "Its meant to be a burglary right?" I seem to recall picking up one there.
I'll play the whole thing again and check there. There was no piece in that chest in my first play through.. Thanks.
So interesting. The only piece I had trouble with was the chest in the bedroom in Arl 1, because I didn't have Mechanical Expertise yet. I don't remember where exactly 4&5 were because I found them without trying too hard. There must be a room or chest that you missed?
Edit: Oops, looks like you found it! Grats!

well I am not retarded but whatever...I guess criticism is not permitted here. The DLC was off course with the original story set for Leliana (she was imprisoned in Orlais) in DAO and the locations were just the same locals we visited already in both DAO and DAA. This is my opinion and not meant to offend anyone. I thought it was a waste of time and money. I am a huge fan of the original released game but the downloads FOR ME are just awful. Try downloads for ME2, now Bioware got those right. leeboi2 - i hope you have a wonderful day.
I think they tried to work around that by saying that it's Leliana "telling the tale" of her betrayal, and that the facts change with the telling. So it's the core but not necessarily the details of what she told us before. I definitely understand this was meant to be a cost-saver so they could recycle environments. On the other hand, I would much rather they spend the development dollars on new *voiced* dialogue and an interesting couple of hours of story than blow the money on new environments and spell effects and then have a horrible story with new/unknown voices, or no voices at all.
Try to look at it this way. You could have spent that same amount of money on a matinee ticket to Eclipse, and then you'd really be pissed off! At least this had good plot and characters.

It's important to note, going way back to Baldur's and beyond, that Bioware has NEVER been ahead of the curve graphically, but I for one have bought everything they've made since around 1995 onwards for the things that are important to me - story, characters and plotting - and I'm not the only one.
This dlc delivers on that, and for me therefore bears the unmistakable characteristics of a Bioware product. Repurposed environments? Why the heck not? I'll bet there's more stories that can be told via the Pearl, for instance, or the Gnawed Noble, or a race against time to stop a terrible foe in the back alleys of Denerim, or an ancient Elven curse reasserting itself in the alienage etc, and if there isn't more to be discovered in the Elven ruins in the Brecilian forest, I'll be amazed.
This sort of character-based dlc is excellent, in my view, as against the more event-based stuff that's been traditional in these early days of dlc and the exploration of its' possibilities.

(Mini-Review: Overall it's quite solid, and worth grabbing if you're a fan of Leilana. It is still too short, but the content is much higher quality than RTO.)

I love Leliana and it was great having more background info about her
And I loved that it was fully voiced, it sounded much more natural than Origins and Awakening

I enjoyed the DLC, but I'm playing the Original Campaign and the story Leliana tells of her past with Marjolaine are a bit different from what actually took place in the DLC, did I miss a reason why this is?
1. Leliana didn’t tell you (the Warden) the truth about what happened. Which is lame at its best for an explanation since she already confessed to lying about leaving Orlais. “I lied to you, you know? About why I left Orlais." So why would she lie again especially seeing as you need her fairly loyal for her to tell you this? Maybe she’s a compulsive liar?
2. She’s retelling the story with a new twist. Her retelling this story at all also seems out of character for her. She has no interest in telling a tale of what happened at Redcliffe due to its tragic ending. So why would we believe that an event that scarred her deeply on a personal level is something she would retell to anyone even with the changes. And no, I don’t believe for a second that she’s retelling her story to you the warden. You already know the story and would likely be interrupting her asking “um, excuse me but didn’t this happen in Orlais?”
"A bard must know history so she does not repeat it. She tells the tales but is never part of them. She watches but remains above what she sees. She inspires passions in others and rules her own." -From Dragon Age: The Stlen Throne. So much for never being part of a tale she tells.
3. BioWare got lazy and needed to shovel something to the masses as quickly as possible. This is why it doesn’t take place in Orlais since it would be to much to ask that BioWare actually took their time and did it right. Have it set in Orlais where it should have been set. Expand on the relationship between Lilaina and Marjolaine since we get very little of this in this story and would impact the betrayal moment a lot more. Expand the story more to include parts where its just Lilaina and Marjolaine as the group on some quests and just walking in town. Expand the playtime from barely 2 hours to closer to 10 hours.
4. Who cares. It stars Leliana so shut up already. BioWare can do no wrong.

Most will likely choose 4 as the option, I am viewing it as option 3, as Leliana clearly indicates in Origins that the events took place directly in Orlais and that she came to Ferelden afterwards, whether it be to hide, getaway etc. So for the DLC to take place in Ferelden is a sloppy mistake that should have never happened, someone should have read their own lore.

Same here. No achivements on Social Profile.
I also noticed that DLC-unique items my Leliana is wearing are not displayed correctly on profile page.
It seems Bioware forgot to upload DLC data to social site DB. I realy hope this doesn't mean I'll have to do the achievemnts again...

Maybe I haven't searched these forums hard enough but I'm surprised more people aren't upset about it. Folks have been saying forever that they'd love to see Orlais, and here was an opportunity for Bioware to give us more of the world and for all intent and purposes it looks like they took the easy way out and rushed this DLC out the door. I say this because Denerim was already built and it would have taken them a bit more time to create Orlais and do the story right.
