Strength - 23
Dexterity - 40
Willpower - 21
Magic - 14
Cunning - 19
Constitution -11
I also have the attribute -- Mechanical Expertise
I still cannot open those last three chest in the Arl' Estate, to get the leather armor pieces, before the **** betrays Leliana: and, we have to fight our way back out. I really don't want to have to fight the game. It isn't enjoyable, as you no doubt can tell.
I just want to play and enjoy the game. What does it take to popen all of the chest and beat the Commander in the final battle?

You've never noticed that some skills have a stat requirement? As Ekyri said, you need 22 cunning to get the 4th device mastery skill.
The armor is a sidequest, so if you're freaking out about maybe having to replay a two hour DLC to get it then I don't know what to tell you. That is, other than simply pointing out that if you were that deadset on finishing all the sidequests and you understood how rogues operate then you should know how important lock-picking can be and you would have filled it asap.

How long have you been playing Dragon Age? It's not complicated. If you want to get the special item, all you do is get all four of the lockpick thingys then you open all the chests you come across. You only have to be level 12 and have 22 dex in order to acheive this. Are you saying you've played the game 5 times, only trying to get the item, and you didn't figure this out?

My dexterity is at 40.
I climbed the tree to get into the Estate and leveled up to 12 and added the three points to cunning for a total of 22, but the game won't let me select the Mechanical Master attribute. I am currently at Expert. So, tell me how I am suppose to fix that?

I liked the companions, especially Tug and Sketch. Silas was quite generic and not that interesting. (Any hope to see Sketch again, somewhere?). Story was predictable, since it's outliners where known, but quite fun to play, especially the "prelude" in the Denerim market.
While I expected the reuse of known regions, it was nice to see at least some new locations at the end.
Also playing a fully voiced character was very nice for a change. I prefer it anyway over a silent and emotionless/distant PC. Leliana's comments while running around added a lot of flavor. Party banter was nice done, as always, and the dialogue was way more extensive as I predicted, as was the DLCs length. The new soundtrack was also a nice bonus. Quite the best DLC for DA so far, thumbs up, well done.

As a DLC it's at least a 4-out-of-5. What would have made it a 5 (for me) would have been more emphasis specifically on Bard/Rogue skills to overcome enemies.
And after my first full playthrough, there's still an acheivement I didn't manage to snag. (Although no problem getting the bonus item! As others pointed out, she's a Rogue -- wasn't hard to recognize one should concentrate on cunning and "mechanical expertise".) So there's even replay value.
TWO BIG

Short answer -- If you've waited this long , yes, wait a bit longer for 1.x patch and avoid the possible heartbreak.Valthaur wrote...
Question: since I'm still using patch 1.02a, would it make sense to wait till the next patch comes out before playing the DLC? (In order to avoid patching to 1.03 with its well-documented problems...)

Just so everyone knows I was just able to open the first chest in the Master Bedroom in the Arl's Estate at only Level 11, with a cunning of 23.

I'm assuming you don't have the 4th combat training skill Jallard and that is why you can't select it.
I just finished and greatly enjoyed it. Didn't get the ruin the captain's life achievement, I will have too try that one again.

And if your cunning is high enough you may not need the fourth tier skill anyways. Both the skills and your cunning contribute to what locks can or can not be picked.

If only Return to Ostagar had the kind of in depth story telling that this had. It would have had much more impact. Leliana's Song is the complete opposite of Darkspawn Chronicles (from what I heard-you couldn't have paid me to buy that), so much so, that it's hard to believe they were made by the same company.
To me, this is the first DLC that has really captured the depth of the original game. It doesn't have the humor of that, but this isn't a humorous story. It wouldn't have fit. It does have characters that you come to care about and who you can speak to. There could have been more conversation, but that would be my only quibble. If this was a DLC with the Origins companions, that would be a problem, but as a small piece of history, I can live with it, especially since the overall quality is superb.

I have played and replayed this DLC 6 times today trying to get the leather armor, but to no avail. This one that I just now finished I had four pieces of the armor The one that the Big mouth had, The one in the master bedroom and two in the second part of the Arl's Estate --in the weapons room and the other a the chest. There was nothing in the Chantry, however. No drawer, nothing!
Again, though, as much as I liked playing Leliana's Song, I will probably never play it again. I mean, what's the point if you can't get and keep the fancy leather armor. I guess I got my $6 worth though, I did play it six times.
Thanks.

Now make one of Morrigan and her past, that would rock the socks off, please no more Oghern, I can't stand him and he made Dragon age Awakening more lackluster.
