What is, in your opinion, the best race of this game? I mean which one has a better story and a better gameplay???
And one more question: Can the mages and the warriors lockpick?

the race doesn't matter, the bonus you get from your race is so small that it disappear in the long run.

So the origin story and it's minor influence through the game is what makes it worth playing them all.

and no mages and warriors can't pick locks without you installing user mods that add the capability, or rather they are really bad at it. you need to boost a ability they don't use to beable to open any chest at all. and even then they don't come cloase to a rogue.

With the mod, warriors just break open chests  No time for flimsy lockpicking.

The most popular origins seem to be Human Noble, Dwarf Noble, and City Elf. These are easily the most fun and most interesting, but I like all of them for different reasons.

There is a slight bonus if you pick an origin that will give you a skill point in the tree you're already planning on - for example Human Noble warrior gets Shield Bash for free, which is a nice freebie for a Sword and Shield build, but useless if you're going Dual-Wield or 2-hand. City Elf warrior on the other hand gets Dual Weapon Sweep. As was stated earlier, the bonus is minimal and won't affect too much, but I certainly appreciated my Human Noble rogue getting a free slot in Combat Training so I could get tier 2 talents right away.

also note that gender matter, so for example city elf is slightly diffrent as a male compare to female. and it's not only dialogue.

True that.  City Elf and Dwarf Noble are the most different for genders.  Others seem to be much the same.

I'd have to throw my lot in with the 'human noble' supporters, because you (well, at least I did) get the feeling that you really tie in with everything that's going on in the game. People recognize you and you've apparently been to Landsmeets before. And speaking to Anora as a city elf was a little more...intimidating than as a Cousland. Though I haven't played an entire playthrough with a dwarf yet, and they seem to be a popular choice.

I really liked playing as a City Elf female. and since their hometown is in Denerim, it plays a major part in the final battle. plus I think it's kinda funny when humans give you crap for being an elf

I think it speaks well for the game that people have different preferences as to which is the best origin - there's no unanimously agreed upon "best" one.

For me, I enjoyed the dwarf commoner the most. None of the origins are bad, each one has it's good points. Of the elf origins, I probably enjoyed the city elf, with a female character, the most.

For me City Elf (Female) is the best; Dwarf Noble (either gender) is also amazing. I find the humans too plain. It depends on what you're going for though. They all ahve different 'feels' to them.

The backstory of elven oppression opens up some good areas to role play because you have a reason for being mean other than just bwahahahahaha levels of evil. Plus, people have more unqiue reactions to the elves than other races it seems.

Bioware spent a lot of time fleshing out the dwarven origins. It really shines through. My personal favourite is female city elf just because it can provide your character with solid motivation for the entire game. Many people seem to like the human noble story and it does provide for some strong romance/happy ending options.

It's a matter of personal preference. I played Human first since it is the most familiar. Being a noble has some advantages in the late game.

Some races are better for starting specific classes. For instance, Elves start out best as mages or rogues since they get that +2 Magic and +2 Dex racial bonus. Dwarves good too since they get +10% spell resist and +2 Con which nicely fits with either Warrior or Rogue.

Humans are flexible in that they start out equally well as any class, but not particularly as strong in any one class.

The best race in game is ogres. Period. If you don't yet believe it, try Darkspawn Chronicles.

Really the only reason to pick an origin is for RP purposes, though I'd say the resistance to magic of the dwarfs is really handy for melee characters.

As far as RP, I liked the dwarfs the best. For my "good-guy" idealist I went with Commoner, for my "bad-guy" ruthless character I went with Noble

The race that uses the caps lock key the least.
