Well I heard bad things about this game Awakening. I liked Dragon Age Origins but will i like Awakening? Is the story and characters better? Also why is Ograhen the dwarf the only old character to reappear? Is there a reason for this? Also when does Dragon Age Origins 2 come out? Also how much does Awakening cost on Playstation 3? Thanks if you can answer!

I liked Awakenings. It's not nearly as good as Dragon Age Origins but it's still very good. It's also not nearly as much game for your buck as origins but in my opinion DA:O was incredibly long compared to similarly priced games and Awakenings is a good value compared to similarly priced games.

You'll have to play Awakenings to find out about Oghren and the rest of your party.

if it's on sale cheap maybe..otherwise no. ALL versions have bugs..thankfully most can be fixed on PC..thanks to MODS...instead of BioWare caring about fixing them...they're too busy padding their pockets with bull**** like feastday pranks and darkspawn chronicles.

1.3 brings a ton of bugs...and awakening itself..while not unenjoyable...is an abortion of a game...giving you about 1/3rd the time/content for 4/5ths the cost...not a good ratio AT ALL.

I would say it depends on what you're looking for, really.

It is an expansion. Therefore, it is quite a bit shorter, and has a more narrow focus. I, personally, enjoyed it quite a bit; the plot was interesting, the gameplay was fun, and I liked some of the new companions (although I would've wanted to see anyone ahead of Oghren). Some of the new specialisations are interesting, as well as skills, and some of the new equipment is cool.
The continuity is certainly not perfect, but it's also not terrible. So long as you're willing to explain away a few things on your own, I think it isn't a problem (leastways, it wasn't to me). It is significantly more of a problem if you did the Ultimate Sacrifice at the end of Origins.

The bugs... well, the bugs are there. It is not always very buggy, though. I only ran into a few bugs, and none of them were very majour at all (one because I semi-screwed up a quest anyhow, one companion approval bug, and one character animation bug). Of course, this was on my PC - I don't know how buggy the PS3 version is.
If you're worried about bugs, it might not be a bad idea to just wait until the next patch comes out.

The price is a bit high, if you ask me. Roughly $40 for the PC, I believe (again, don't know about the PS3, though I'd assume around the same?). Ten or twenty dollars less would be a better price for an expansion, if you ask me, but it is at least a fairly long expansion.

I wouldn't say the story is better or worse, just different. And I've no idea why they picked Oghren, really, though I could make guesses.
If you're curious about length, I took about 30 hours to finish it, as opposed to the 86 on Origins. I tend to do everything I possibly can, though, so it might not be too indicative.

It's rather hard to tell if someone else will like a game, clearly, but if you have the money and think you might enjoy it, would like to play your character more or all that, I'd recommend going for it. If you only want something more akin to Dragon Age 2 than an expansion, or wouldn't enjoy it unless you have all the same companions as from Origins, I'd recommend against it.

And it's not yet known when Dragon Age 2 will come out.

Most of the whining seems to be just that: whining

Halae Dral stated my sentiments on Awakening perfectly.

I'm betting that the reason Oghren was the only character to reappear is because there either wasn't the time, budget, or organization to write in the romanceable characters. Dunno.

I enjoyed it, and see no reason why not to get it. Sure, Origins was better but people need to remember it's a freaking expansion, not a new game. I also didn't suffer with any bugs, but many people say they do, so I don't know. I also agree the price is a bit high, but if you have the money for it... just get it, it's fun. :P

I enjoyed it, it added more depth to the story in my opinion. Like Hayllee said it's an expansion, not another whole new game.

I would recommend reading The Calling first, or at least looking up the plot and characters on the wiki, just so you know who the silent dwarf is at least.

Also, a lot of the problems in Awakenings is getting fixed in the next patch. The game is still playable and enjoyable, just little annoying things happened to me, like not being able to do 2 companion quests or finishing Oghrens. Other than that, it was good. I really enjoyed the characters and the villians, but I think the biggest gripe I would have on it is that the main villians should of had more screen time.

I played a bit of it, it is good although it does feel a bit like some of the actions you take are rather meaningless which is about the only thing that i didnt really like. I didnt like the characters as much as the first one but i would still recommend getting it.

However i found a heap of bugs that really made the game less enjoyable and i stopped playing it and am not going to keep playing it until a patch comes out to fix them. I couldn't recommend anyone else buying it till a patch does come out to fix them.

I dont know bout the rest of you but I really diddnt enjoy Awakening at all, the story was boring, the characters were dull and unlikeable (apart from Oghren, but even he was my least favorite companion from Origins apart from Zevran) and the environments felt drab and lifeless, I would say avoid this expansion unless you are really truely desperate for more Dragon Age content but even then I would suggest that you would be better off looking for user created campaigns/quests/content online (only if you have the game on PC however).

But perhaps you will enjoy Awakening as there seem to be plenty of people who have posted in this thread that did, I just know that I diddnt enjoy it much at all.

As for the bugs they diddnt really bother me too much, nothing that couldnt be worked around and avoided, at the worst you may just have to load an earlier save. The only bug that was really a problem was Sigrun's side quest wouldnt show up but then by the time I got up to it I really diddnt care, I just wanted the expansion to be over.

As for the release date of Dragon Age 2 it has been speculated that the release date is the 1st of Feb 2011 (as hinted by the flyer released with a few copies of Awakening and backed up by EA's release schedule). While it is most likely that the flyer is hinting at Dragon Age 2 nobody knows for sure (for all we know it could be another expansion) and since its absence at E3 nobody really knows if they still plan to release this new Dragon Age product on the date suggested.

If you like Dragon Age, you'll like Awakening. It's more of the same + all new locations, skills, characters etc. There are bugs, sure, but it's still nice and enjoyable. Also, it continues Origins main story.

It costs $40 on PSN, well or equivalent sum in Euro, ruble or whatever currency of country which's PS store you use.

Not true, I loved Origins but hated Awakening, also I wouldnt really say that it continues Origins main story either. Sure if you choose to import your character it continues your characters story but the story of Awakening isnt really connected to Origins much, you really arent missing much if you choose not to play Awakening.

you should wait until the holiday season where they will no doubt have big sales. It will probably go down to $20 or less

I want to get Awakening but the fact that it costs over £30 on the PS3 network and yet on the xbox 360 £17.99 at the Game shop makes me think they are takeing me for an idiot and I refuse to buy it.

i would suggest the op disregard this. very subjective. content per dollar ratios are a poor way of judging a game, especially considering how much more you get per dollar in origins than almost all other games nowadays. i think that if you ignore the price per hour, more people enjoyed awakening than didn't. there are a decent number of bugs for sure, but the new patch is coming out soon and it will fix many of them. only you can decide if you'll like it, but unless you are only in it for the romances, i think you'll enjoy awakening. there are a lot of sales popping up, so keep an eye out over the next couple days and i think you'll find some good deals.

Not connected? But only in Awakening you'll find out why and how the Blight actually started. You know, the real secret and what all this story since Origins was about. I'd say you're missing a lot if you don't play Awakening.

You should go back and repeat Awakenings a half-a-dozen times.

Some how when I finish Dragon Age I won't be continuing because of the bug and I can't really get my old team back.

I would not. If you have dlc armor weapons, they can be lost. My dlc items were lost twice. After full saves etc. Frequent crashes to desk top and mem leak even with the update installed. Items randomly missing from my npcs. The content is rather brief. I was just getting into it when the epitaph appeared.

Orghen sucks yes, but there is a MUCH better dorf in Awakenings!

I liked Awakenings better than Origins,   higher levels, more diveristy, better gear etc...  Awakenings is just way shorter

I liked the new characters a lot, I was not a huge fan of Wynne and Alistair myself

Runing armor is a very nice perk as well.

More abilities, better balance with the classes, lots of boss mobs to kill.
