I thought Alistair was a great character to pal around with. I liked that he could take a joke too. Conversation with him felt natural, which was a nice contrast to the field of eggshells I had to navigate with Morrigan. I liked how all the characters were done...even Ohgren, whom I merely tolerated.

please do not insult Carth and Kaidan who were great soldiers ready to follow orders and sacrifice anything for the Republic and missions. Alistair is a whiny b--- who always tries to steal kills in combat, turning away from full health enemies just to steal my hard earned kill unless I control him every 2 seconds. He also sounds like a preppie guy who thinks he is clever when really he is just stuck up. I am trying to like this guy I really am but I just want to punch him in the face. He runs around like the Spoiled Grey Warden. He is like 40 years old and looks to you like you are his wealthy and important mommy or daddy ready to make everything all better. I WISH he were more like Carth and Kaidan. Alistair was fresh at first but he went stale and rotten quickly.

Morrigan = Claudia Black.

Bastilla = Jennifer Hale.

 OMG... I love Claudia Black, if it didnt take so much energy to stalk someone I would put her at the top of my list. But be that as it may I am to lazy to do anything other than turn on the TV to watch her in SG-1.  Posted Image

Carth was useless...and anyone saying he didn't whine obviously did what I did...parked him in the Ebon Hawk as soon as Canderous became available.

Alistair is definitely lower on the whine scale than Carth, and much more effective. If Alistair is weak, it's because you can't set tactics for a tank. You get him early enough to spec him exactly to order.

And I loved Bastila...but I don't see how she's at all like Morrigan. Not unless you had Bastila go Face-Heel. Even then...if Morrigan is like anyone to me from the KotOR universe, it's like a young version of Kreia. Much the same philosophy in both characters.

They are fairly alike.

I'm fond of Carth and Kaidain, and you're right that their DNA is recognizable in Alistair, but Maric's bastard is a huge leap forward in charm.

The previous two I grew to like after initially finding them boring. Alistair had me from the git-go.

I think Kaidan was a completely worthless character. He had zero personality. I sacrificed him in all my ME playthroughs.

I thought of her as a young Kreia as well. She's still learning the art of manipulation, but unlike Kreia, has an innocence about the world still. Kreia was my favourite NPC in the KOTOR series BY FAR. I found the companions in KOTOR I incredibly annoying/generic for the most part and the ones in the second much more well-developed.

But then again, I'm one of those weird people who preferred the sequel, buggy and rushed as it was.

Oh god... I hated Carth so freaking much--part of the reason why I stopped playing KotOR after Dantooine (or whatever that Jedi base is called). He is just so freaking stupid, and Bastila is even worse. I would rather have Alistair any day over Carth, and I'm not a huge Alistair fan either--prefer Loghain.

I hate carth so much, that I take pleasure in killing him in Mass Effect. He whines too much. As Arnold Schwarzaneggar would say, he's a "girly man".

I thought Kaiden was alright...that is until his cameo in ME 2. Alistair can be a little too goofy sometimes but he's pretty cool. Carth...yeah, I wish there was a way to feed him to the rancor in the sewers.

Carth was epic fail. Fully equipped with runes of superior baggage.

Kaidan... was an improvement, but still full of baggage.

Alistair... definitely the best of the three, but more baggage.

I know there are fangirls out there, but why all the baggage???? Is that really what women want? Meh. If it's selling, it's selling. Maybe the whole troubled past and prod-me-to-get-it-out is fun for some people. I wonder if there will ever be a secure, anti-emo character. Or was Zevran the only one? lol...

I kind of liked Carth, even if he was useless, cause I only use spellcasters in RPGs, but he was a nice guy. Kaiden and Alistair, on the other hand, are just boring and annoying. Boy, was I glad when Anora kicked Alistair's sorry ass from my party and he was gone. No more Alistair at my camp, hurray!

If a lot of people hate Carth, it's only because Kotor didn't do a very good job of allowing the player to empathize with the character(Empathy feat was no help!). The conversations weren't enough to convey to the player the impact of Saul's betrayal on Carth, and therefore justify Carth's paranoia which instead just came off as being whiny. Also, is it fair to bring Atton into the discussion?

I don't know this Kaidan but Carth and Alistair are nothing but whiners that the poor female has to chose as a romance option. Well except DA there's another romance option with that twink Zevron.

I actually went lesbian and bedded Leli and Morrigan (installed a mod for Morrigan). Leli got all jealous and I dumped Morri in the end, lol. Alistair tried to get close as well, but I told him to keep his distance, I HATE this guy, no way was I going to polish his trumpet (as Oghren puts it)

A bunch of weak whiny men. The women get shafted when it comes to romance options in games. Us guys get all of the hot babes that fall at out feet.

Alistair has a sense of humor. Carth has none. I dont think these two can even be compared. Sure Alistair is a bit whiney, but so is everyone else in the game.
