Alright this thread is for those of us who beat the game on the Insanity difficulty,i want to know which class did you use and if you used an strategy.Personally i used the soldier class overall i think is the one best fit for such difficulty and the adrenaline rush can be very useful in bad situations, but thats just my opinion also if any of u beat it using the adept, tell bioware to give you a free armor you deserved it :)

i beat insanity like infinity million times with an infiltrator. i think it works very well for insanity. i also beat it once with a sentinel. i dont think adept should be *that* hard. vanguard is probably the toughest.

Sentinel is great for insanity, power armor is a godsend. I spammed warp and overload mostly, was boring but very easy to beat. Warp or overload to destroy defenses than throwing enemies continuously is also a great tactic.

Sentinel twice, Soldier twice, Vanguard many times (like 8 or 10 I guess), and only once with the other classes - Infiltrator, Engineer and Adept.

Vanguard was by far the most fun for me, Soldier is second, Sentinel third. Rest of the classes are dull and boring for me.

Gotta check that armour myself, but seriously the adrenaline rush got me out of some situations in which i would had died were not for it.

I beat it on a NG+ Level 30 Vanguard.

Ridiculously tough because Charge only works when you can exploit it. Otherwise, its a suicide button.

Infiltrator

I probably made 80% of my kills with a head shot by my sniper rifle. Lots of time being invisible and running around frantically for thermal clips. I think I finished the game with no ammo left except for 3 pistol shots.

Personally, I love the Infiltrator class for the stealth and sniping. On Insanity, I found that staying far from the enemies and not getting flanked was the best strategy. Killing from a distance was key. Invisibility also allowed me to use my teammates as "bait" while I could run around and clear them from behind.

You should try sniping with the soldier and using the adrenaline rush it makes it really easy to rack up the headshot count :P

Power armor, double shields that regenerate every few seconds, set with assualt armor and it is a bomb going off. I punched two scions to death on insanity with this set up. The knockdown also helps against husks and krogan.

Engineer and adept are about equal in that they are generally 1 ability ponies, you have one ability that generally trumps the others. (engineer = incinerate, adept = warp)

infiltrator gets automatic time slow down when using sniper zoom. there is no need for adrenaline rush, and you dont waste a cooldown.

While they do get a slow mo, it is not as potent as the adrenaline rush. Adrenaline rush can give up to a 70% slow mo, the infiltrator one is 50%. Also the adrenaline rush lasts longer.

Also, Adrenaline Rush increases your damage by 100 or 140 percent. Cloak is not even close. And, Soldiers also get the slow down when zooming with SR.

Saying one word does not really help tell the op which is best for insanity. Your opinion and mine most likely differ so the OP should hear both views.

They are not, I guarantee you that. ;)

Every class has his strategy, once you find it, insanity becomes a breeze.

Concerning the Soldier x Infiltrator damage, adrenaline rush do more damage, but Infiltrator usualy have the most powerfull weapon in the game (the Widow) and the slowdown, wich makes headshot very easy to do.
I think is a waste play a soldier and pick the Widow when they have the Revenant available.
In my opinion is with this weapon that AR really shines, but I have nothing against it, it's the player choice and I pick the Widow once when I was playing as a soldier .

Otherwise the Widow + Cloak + visor and a head shot in Harbinger strip his barriers almost to the end.
Depends of the class and the playstyle, there's no "this is better", all of them are good, even the Adept.

The most fun classes to play to me is the Engineer and the Sentinel.

I happened to use my soldier for the insanity run. Was fun enough. The soldier and the vanguard give a great "right in the thick of it" experience.

I haven't played on insanity after that though. All it does for me is add some armor/shields to the enemies, so it takes longer to kill them. But it is not more tactically challenging IMO. I think it's most fun on veteran or hardcore. Just the same as ME1 was.

I've cleared ME2 on insanity difficulty with all the classes. The easiest was the Sentinel... Power Armour makes you utterly invincible if you don't use any other power (thereby saving the cooldown to re-apply the armor).. it's much stronger than Barrier or it's variants since it auto-recharges 50% of your shields when it drops... plus it sends a massive shockwave in all directions that knocks down or stuns everyone. You genuinely feel god-like when playing a sentinel in power armor.

Hardest would have to be soldier to be brutally honest... they're as flimsy as a wet paper bag... granted their firepower helps make up for it, but on insanity your shields can go from 100% to 0 in 1-2 seconds from regular enemy fire... and your health can go from 100% to dead almost as fast... it makes popping out to fire any meaningful bursts difficult or tedious (hard to hose down enemies with the revenant when you can't afford to stick your head out longer than 1-2 seconds at a time.. then wait for shields / health recharge).

Soldier was certainly fun... but a thorough challenge (the only class I died multiple times with on Insanity).

Engineer was the 2nd easiest to finish the game with... lots of utility and had the means to kill enemies from cover effectively and easily (Assault drone totally made up for the lack of survivability.. pop it, and once the enemies start firing at it, you can slam enemies with Overload, Incinerate, Cryo blast..... good stuff).

Infiltrator was also very easy to finish with... but it was also the most boring for me.... the stealth system made me feel very.... disengaged.. .from the the excitement of battle.

Adept was a lot of fun... a tad challenging, but not overly so.

Vanguard... ugh, I would've put this over the soldier on the hardest to beat insanity with... but then I eventually got the hang of how to use charge properly on insanity and it became manageable (and thrilling.. since you were always skirting death)... Vanguard was fun simply because you REALLY need good situational awareness as a player to know excactly when it's the right time to charge.. and when not to.... 1 bad call and you'll hurl yourself right into your own death... on insanity, enemies deal insane damage at point blank range, and even with a Barrier on, your shields (plus the shield boost charge) will collapse in a fraction of a second if you charged at the wrong time... and you'll be dead long before you can sprint to cover to try to correct for your mistake. Sure is an exciting way to play.

Did my one and only insanity on a Vanguard. Every other play through I have done has been on hardcore. Vanguards on insanity become monsters towards the end. Just have to watch what the mobs are doing.

So far

Engineer: My favorite class, great skillset and lighting fast recharge times. The drone is very useful as both explode-y or combat.
Sentinel: Practically untouchable, wich kinda makes it a little boring sometimes. The skillset is pretty good.
Vanguard: Charge is the best move in the game, I die a lot, but I definetly have lots of fun.
