I do not dislike her. I admire her for her courage, wit and determination. There are three main reasons she is often vilified for, allow me to analyze them:

1) Anora betrayed me after I saved her from Arl Howe, the biatch!

Well, had you paid attention, you'd know that she specifically told you to keep your trap shut about her identity. Reasonable. So, when you meet Cauthrien, her father's second, and blab, she does the sensible thing to avoid mortal danger. Your fault.

2) Anora turned on me in the Landsmeet, lying, double crossing biatch!

Let's see. That happens for either or both of two reasons. If you tell her you plan to kill her father. She may oppose him politically but she does NOT want him killed, of course. If she rules alone, the high standards set by her father cause her never to remarry. And the little, tragic cutscene if you refuse Riordan's suggestion proves that point. She also turns on you if you refuse to support her. Makes sense for a queen, a good ruler. Why meekly step aside for a bastard son, a man without any qualifications to rule, never mind willingness? She, like anyone else, does not know just why GW are needed to kill Archie. So WHY should she agree to help a person who intends to dethrone her, will likely kill her father and hand Ferelden to Eamon (The man who urged Cailan to put her aside!) and a man-child driven by his desires and emotions rather than common sense?

3) If I support her and don't smear her father's blood in her face, she wants my home-boy Alistair executed, the snake!

That too makes sense for a ruler. Pretenders, rivals and people offering your enemies an replacement to put on the throne were usually executed. Look at how Henry VII (Yes, 7th! Not 8th!) dealt with pretenders and rivals after winning the War Of The Roses! How Elizabeth I., after much resistance on her part, had Mary Stuart executed. Political necessity. Look at Mary I. almost having her own SISTER (Later said Elizabeth I.) executed for inspiring riots against her. Is it a nice thing to do? No. Is it necessary? Yes. And considering Alistair's vengeful feelings towards her and her father, it is a wise, if cruel decision. And what about Alistair insinuating he'd have her executed, hmmmm? ("I won't kill you while there is a chance that could happen.")

Just my 2cents on this often unjustly maligned character.:innocent:

I have only completed two playthroughs, and the first time I was a female mage and gave Anora the throne to rule alone, since unhardened Alistair didn't want it anyway. She did want Alistair executed but quickly backed down when I asked for my boon. The second time I was male human noble and married her myself. Neither time was she ever rude or backstabbing or ****y - in fact in both playthroughs she was completely upfront about her intentions, supported me at the Landsmeet, etc. I was always confused by all the Anora hate, but after reading some of these forums I guess a lot of it depends on how you interact with her earlier. On my current playthrough I'm planning to marry a hardened Alistair to her, so I guess, once again, I'm unlikely to see her evil side.

*** SPOILER ***

She'll backstab you if you tell her you intend to kill her dad, which surprises people...
