Squad Composition of ME3- A discussion

If they do bring some squaddies back, why do they need to be plot important beyond Shepard's team members? Why do they need full missions dedicated to them, instead, for example, I'd Tali survives, or Legion etc., then maybe you can skip a Charm or Intimidate check when they speak up instead, meaning that there is an upside to keeping them alive, but no downside to having them dead.

I think this conversation is over.
The only semi-relevant thing in there, is Casey mentioning they monitor player choices.
This leads me to believe that they'll only bother to mess with the top favorite characters/favorite decisions, and then hang whatever's left to dry as a cameo/email/ignore it completely.
Which, while to me, *might* be good news on the front of popular characters like Tali, Miranda, Garrus, Mordin etc.
But might be a spiteful "we don't care" to the others.
And even then, I could be wrong. Maybe they'll take the most used characters/LI's, and give THEM the cameo/email, and everyone else simply gets nothing.

Or at least until the first trailer comes out and we see sheploo with a brand new female squad mate.

The first 2 Shep'll get will be new characters... that'll prove nothing since we didn't see Tali until months after the first trailer/vidoc. We won't get definite evidence one way or the other until a dev states it or we see a character selection screen with space for 20+ characters. Even then the spaces may scale as you get more.epoch_ wrote...

We can assume Miranda and legion are coming back for sure...Miranda has too many loose ends and un answered questions for ME3 not to be a squadmate(quiting cerebrus, her dad, closure for romance, and almost imposible to kill in suicide mission(she was only character other than joker to survive my epic fail playthrough)) and legion was end game squadmate so would be rather lame if they took him away in ME3.

Exactly. They designed it where it would be hard to kill off Miranda. And Legion wasn't on your team for long. So he joins Shepard at the end of the game and then "Oh Shepard commander, even though I've spent so much time looking for you I'm going to go hang out with some geth friends. Cya". Not likely.

Yeah. no. lol. Both are just as unlikely to come back as anyone else. Those are very weak reasonings you have.

1. I really want to see Miranda and Legion in ME2.
2. Both Miranda and Legion can die.
3. Therefore, Miranda and Legion will be in ME3.

Smud, you must atleast recognize that the game was practically built for Miranda to survive to the very end. You have to be trying to kill her for her to die. She can't even die until Hold the Line.

My mistake; I checked and it was kingdan quoting one of your posts. I'll edit it out of the original post. Relax a bit, though. It's just a message board conversation and most of the people in here are being wholly civil.PoliteAssasin wrote...

I think what he was saying (in his own unique way) is that despite how difficult it is to get a character killed, or how popular he or she (or it, they, just what does Legion qualify as?) the fact remains is that all of them can die. Therefore the return of any character in a significant capacity for ME 3 is at best unlikely and at worst wishful thinking.

Ashley/Kaidan CAN die. Yet we're told that if one of them is an LI, they will get a role thats integral to the story. Based on that, it's logical to conclude that if your LI isn't from Mass 1, and is from Mass 2, that even though they can die, like Ash/Kaidan, they too will also get that LI role of being integral to the story.
So basically the LI is guaranteed to come back. The others, we don't know. But can speculate. Again out of all of the non romanceable npc's, Grunt and Legion will most likely stay for obvious reasons.

As I said before, define significant capacity. Squadmates are, bar very few, never integral to the plot. It was the same for ME2 as it was for ME1 and for DA:O. For the most part, the squad relates to the plot as Shepard's team, nothing more.
Im almost certain Miranda will be a squadmate she is one of the first loyalty missions you can get and once she's loyal she can't die on suicide mission
If any squadmate has a chance to return it's miranda
and bioware is not going to get rid of tali due to the fear her mancers would slaughter them and rip off theiir faces then post on their thread BIOWARE UNMASKED!

Mass Effect 2 was all about the squadmates. So how can you say that?

It's too bad that the only old squadmate we'll probably get in ME3 is Liara, the most boring character in ME1.
They wont bring back just one LI, so she wont be back either.

No, if anything it will be A/K/L and ME2 LI. The only exception to this is Thane.
