Prothean squadmate for Mass Effect 3

Now, this can either be as a Collector who survived your attack and now has regained full control of itself, or an untainted Prothean we discover in a stasis pod.
This squadmate would be the big one no one expected, like Legion. The Prothean would bring revelations and much interest to the game.
It would give us a fresh perspective on the Reapers, and really, since it's very likely Bioware will show the Protheans in Mass Effect 3 anyway, it's a logical decision.
Would anyone else want this?

Sadly, I must also believe that it won't happen. But maybe helping one, or even meeting one?
Could even involve a re-visit to Ilos, which would also be cool. Revisiting an area or part from a character's past (to see what it's like now that time has pssed) is great in fiction/literature.
In the end, I remain cautiously optimistic about a Prothean squadmate, and root for getting one!

A collector that got it's sences back is for me basically a no go. EDI mentions in the collector ship when you examine that collector in the collection pod that it is completely reengineered. Even if it's free of the reapers it would likely end up like the keepers in the citadel to my mind as it is suggested a little ingame that they could also have been engineered by the reapers.

Maybe just one survivor and all energy was focused one that stasis so it remained for 50 000 years.
That would be a good example, BUT Bioware needs a really really good reason WHY this perticularly individual was deemed so important as to be chosen to be kept alive above everyone else (the AI on Ilos kept top scientists alive as per his instructions given to him).

Agreed.

Since I'm pretty sure we're going back to Ilos to invade/sneak into the Citadel somewhere in ME3's endgame, I wouldn't mind Vigil getting a body, though, á la Sarevok. Whether that be Shepard himself or Legion, I don't know. Both would work, I guess: If he gets cozy in Shepard's body/mind, it would provide him with a good chance at redemption for his race (and Shepard has the Cipher). If he lives on through Legion it would also give the geth a new benevolent AI to guide them and provide them with a culture, effectively allowing the Prothean culture to live on.

Everyone would've seen it coming at some point or another, and while I'm sure BioWare could pull it off pretty well, it would feel 'forced'.

Vigils "dead" already though.

The writers will find away around that, shouldn't be that difficult.

There could easily be another Prothean ruin near this new species, and that would aid us story-wise. In return for the species' cooperation, we take one of them with us into the galaxy. Something like that.

Salvaging Prothean technology on the other hand? That's a different matter.
