I haven't used it yet. I'll tell you this though... it looks awful on femshep.

Provides the best bonuses for Vanguards, mainly thanks to the extra weapon and melee damage. Shield bonus makes very little difference on Insanity. Looks ok. (no idea about femShep - do not care)

if you swap the Kestrel shoulder pads for the in-game melee ones, your melee damage goes by like 45%. your elbow will be your deadliest weapon, lol

It doesn't in actual practice, though. Well, that's just my opinion anyway. I thought it was going to look awful, but I'm happy with it.

I should get out my Vanguard just to give the armor a nice punch.

I think the armor looks good enough on FemShep.

I am playing a vanguard now, and the melee bonus is nice. I still need to get those other melee pads to achieve a 45% increase.

IMO, the three best bonuses for vanguards are +shields, +dmg, +melee. Guess what three bonuses most of the pieces in this set give?

The only thing I have to balance that against is the aesthetics. I don't like the helmet because I like to see the face (otherwise I could use any ugly preset, right?), and I'm currently not using the chest piece because it doesn't say N7 and I'm a N7 fanboyyyy. Honestly, though, the set looks pretty good on a male Shep as long as you don't mind bulking up a little.

Question: is the helmet allowed on EV missions like Migrant Fleet or Collector Ship? It looks like it wouldn't be.

For 160 points? Why not, I had them on my account as a leftover from Overlord. More armor pieces - more options, better game :)

My newest Vanguard put this on for his first serious mission (Mordin recruitment) today except for the helmet (used the cooldown reducing one) and as far as extra shields or weapon damage aren't very noticable, the extra melee damage (it was impossible to have the 25% shoulders at this point in the game) is.

Also I like the look on the male Shepard (haven't used it on any femshep yet). Sure, it's bulky, but that's why it suits a Vanguard, an assault Sentinel and a Soldier.

It's an armor, not an evening outfit. I'm particularly happy about the fact that they're giving femshep actual armor, not some alloy that accentuates her curves.

The kestrel main piece seems like a keeper for the vanguards, and different playstyles will require different combos. I'd personally go with maximising weapon damage.

True. It's really great that the armor is modular. I can imagine that Scimitar users will focus on weapon damage, Claymore/Evi (which already pucks a punch) on melee to finish enemies without wasting shots, the cautious Vanguards will focus on shields etc.
I hope for more armors like this in the future, so all classes can be happy.

Playing a new run on Vanguard. So far not noticing a real difference yet, but I don't have the full upgrades yet, so that's expected.

I've just started my insanity Assault Sentinel last night, and as soon as I got armor locker just before meeting TIM for the first time, I put on full Kestrel armor minus the helmet.  Going from the default N7's 3% shield boost to the Kestrel's 22% was nice, but what I noticed most was the 30% increased melee damage as I tore through Freedom Progress.

An imaginary dollar to someone who actually plays that game with the helmet on and likes it that way.
