Some suggestions for new origin stories:

Fade Spirit:

As a Fade Spirit, wandering the ever-changing landscape of the dream realm, your "life" has been uneventful, until, a struggle with a powerful demon casts you out of the Fade and into the body of a recently deceased mortal, stranding you in the real world.

Ash Warrior:

As a member of the Ash Warriors, you have spent the last several years travelling with this elite band of fighters. However, you have always yearned for something more. This ambition has brought you to the attention of the wrong people, putting your future and very life at risk.

Golem:

A leftover remnant of the golden age of the dwarves, you have spent countless years in silence in the dwarven city of Orzammar, being trotted out only when the dwarves need is at its greatest. A chance accident, however, leads to you being reactivated, just as the leader of the Ferelden Grey Wardens comes seeking recruits to his cause.

Apostate Mage:

Raised in the isolation of the Korcari Wilds, you have spent your childhood on the run from the mage-hunting templars, all the while struggling to control your developing powers. When a close friend and trusted ally betrays you, your life is turned upside down and you find that you cannot run anymore.

Qunari:

As a member of the Beresaad, the vanguard of the qunari, you have come to Ferelden seeking knowledge of the darkspawn and the Blight. While camping at Lake Calenhad however, you are attacked by darkspawn, leaving you cut off from your brothers, lost and alone in a strange nation.

Banished Templar

Banished Templar:

You were a templar in service to the chantry, until after successfully tracking down a group of maleficar, you showed mercy, giving in to their pleas. The words were false, and they turned their blood magic on your fellows, murdering them and escaped. When told of the story, the grand cleric cast you out of the order and onto the streets. Now you struggle to make a living, your skills wasted as you beg on the streets of Denerim.

you should get a job working for bioware in character development, do one for a werewolf (Zatharin's wasn't the only werewolf band you know)

Werewolf:

Stumbling upon a werewolf lair in your youth you were bitten by a werewolf and contracted the disease, turning you into an outcast among your people. In time, you began to come to terms with your condition, even embracing your fellow werewolves as brothers. When a band of humans seeking revenge for an attack invade your happiness, you are the sole survivor of your group. Alone and confused, you stumble upon a band of Grey Wardens searching for darkspawn and your life takes a new direction - fighting the Blight.

Thank you for the compliment, TheShadowWolf911, and as for the qunari origin, I intended for the PC to be part of Sten's group, creating some interesting dialogue later in the game.

Some more origin suggestions:

Chantry Initiate:

Orphaned at a young age, you were turned over to the chantry to be raised in an orphanage. From you were old enough to understand the Chant of Light, you wished to serve the Maker and spread the his word. You spent years studying the teachings of the prophet Andraste and vowed to dedicate your life to help open the way for the Maker's return. You find, however, that darkness can hide behind the even the most devoted disciple.

Surface Dwarf:

You are one of the dwarves whose ancestors have renounced the laws of Orzammar and struck out to build a new life on the surface. Your grandparents gave up caste and clan to try and make a life in the human lands. You were born in Redcliffe, an idyllic Ferelden town, knowing nothing of the feudal politics of Orzammar. When a distant descendants misdeeds catch up with you, however, your life is plunged into chaos.

Denerim City Guard:

You joined the Denerim City Guard as soon as you came of age. Smart and resourceful, you quickly rose through the ranks to become second to the captain. Your rivals for the post did not take this lightly, and set an ambush for you. Skilled with a blade, you fought your way out, but the captain, fool as he was, arrived on scene, looked at the carnage, declared you a murderer and imprisoned you. Now you languish in a cell waiting to hang.

Aww, a qunari in the Beresaad would've been sweet. You could've been with Sten, and after you got separated and found him in Lothering, you could be all, "Yo' homie, I thought you was dead!"

And Sten would be all "<_< Not you again."

Darkspawn disciple:

You were born amongst the darkspawn, but you do not think as they do, you are not driven by their mindless impulses to maim and kill. You are capable of higher thought and see that what your fellows do is wrong. One day, after witnessing yet more horrific cruelty, you sneak away from the horde and head for the surface, seeking out the people who can stop the darkspawn - the Grey Wardens.

But surely the Joining would be considered cannibalism by a darkspawn.

A fair point, but if the darkspawn already had the blood inside it, then perhaps the Joining would be unnecessary.
Perhaps the archdemon could be slain by one of its minions, but had never considered the possibilty of betrayal from within.

Ooh, now you've got me thinking what would happen if a darkspawn took the final blow to the archdemon. Hmm.

JEW;
LIFE IN THE DENERIM GHETTO WAS ALWAYS A TOUGH LIFE . EVERY DAY WAS A STRUGGLE FOR FOOD, WATER OR YOUR OWN LIFE AS THE SECRET PARAMILITARY GROUP, THE TEMPLARS WERE ALWAYS ON THE LOOKOUT FOR HERESY.

100% INCREASED MONETARY GAIN
GETS A SPECIAL ABILITY - CONTROL THE MEDIA
NEGATIVE DISPOSITION FROM EVERYBODY ELSE.

IS THIS A COOL RACE, BROS? IT'S VERY UNIQUE.

(P.S BROS, THIS IS A JOKE. IF YOU WERE OFFENDED BY THIS CONCEPT THEN YOU'RE AN IDIOT. LOL)
