I was wondering if anyone else had this roblem. When I go into the 1st town (the place after Morrigon joins you) the game keeps crashing as I try to exit the chantry (the place where the Reverd Mother and Templars are) it is EVERY time and this is the 2nd time I have played through. I had to use the console cheats to get Sten to join my party and the crashes continued throughout the whole of my 1st game (it was so bad I couldn't watch the whole ending scene)

I had very random CTDs. I found turning off autosaves and my antivirus software helped (avast). Played last night for 6 hours with only 1 ctd whereas before i was getting them about once every 20mins.

I hate realtek sound cards, I have nothing but trouble with them even as far as official drivers not working for half the models I worked with. (Tech) Game wise they tend to have major issues because of the poor drivers.

If you are crashing solely because of sound...

I myself haven't had a single crash yet and am about 50% through... the only thing I've notice is slowdown on loading over time possible memory leak... haven't played since patch though...

Man nothing seems to work. I guess I'll have to wait for a patch to come out to fix this.

there are two things to try

1) get new drivers... your board manufacturer should provide those... if you don't know who made the board get CPU-Z (do a google search; you may have to do a google search for the board name once you find it in CPU-Z)

2) go buy a cheap Audigy or X-Fi APU (audio processing unit), disable the onboard one... this will free up at least 64mb of additional RAM and reduce CPU usage too, improving over-all performance
