Is it normal to get emotionally attatched?

I had an attachment to the female character I created. She is in my view the most hottest you can possibly imagine. If only I could meet a woman as beautiful in real life! Seriously, there is something very appealing about being able to create your own ideal (looks wise) woman and then having 100% control over her - tell her what to do etc....

What can I say - I am a typical male and oh - I don't allow her to play with any male characters in the game - only females (go figure) :)

So my best friend recommended me to get this game cuz he said it was awesome. It is the first RPG game i ever played, and i must say the money was worth it. However, i can't help but feel so emotionally attatched to this game, especially at the ending when i ended things with Morrigan (my main characters love interest). When i chose i wanted to go after her, i actually really meant it, i felt a strong urge to do so. At the epilogue when it shows Morrigan, the ring, and her regrets, tears dwelled in my eyes and my heart actually ached in pain. The reaction i recieved freaked me out cuz i was never an emotional person.

Is it normal for a new RPG player to feel this way?

I guess it must be normal, as so many people here agree. I felt this way, too, and was surprised that a video game could evoke such strong emotions in me. I can only think of a couple of games that even came close to making me feel so attached to a character/characters but nothing like this one did. Origin's writers seem to be especially gifted people to craft a story that draws you into it so completely. As others have mentioned, being able to create your own character is part of it, and that is one reason I worry that I won't be able to identify as closely with the hero Hawke in DA2. Image IPB

I'm an old man but the first time I successfully made it through the game to the end, tears welled up in my eyes.

I had chosen the self-sacrifice route rather than sleeping with Mori that first time through, but I think it's perfectly natural to become emotionally attached to anything you spend a lot of time with, even if it's a toon in a computer game. It's the story that is compelling. I really like good stories.

Err...

I really don't know if it's normal. After I finished the game, I got the feeling I always have after finishing an awesome book.
