If you hate him that much, just don't use him.

If they had DLC that had you using him as target practice I would buy it.

I noticed a lot of situations that reminded me of KOTOR (I swear some voices are done by same actors), environmental music of NWN, it been too long since I played BGII so haven't got that feeling yet.

How is Alistair anything like Carth?
He's the male lead.
Simpletons always hate the male lead in any BioWare or BioWare sequel game, e.g. Carth, Atton, Kaiden, Sky, and now Alistair, and group them together for no reason.

Atton wasnt that bad, I did always kill Kaiden though. Carth was just horrible. Mostly I just hate them because they complain too much and annoy me. Sometimes its just because.

Well except the dog.
I've seen many an accusation that Atton was Carth2 made by various silly people which is why I mention it.

Course I tend not towards evil/quick solutions, and play my characters pretty upstanding and honest just as a normal state of my personality...so Alistair and my characters are usually like brothers by the end of the story, which always makes the final decision a bit obvious.
One of these days, I keep promising myself, I'll play a BioWare game and be a completely evil dillhole and do whatever I want, but I never really enjoy being evil...tried it in Fallout 3 and it didn't work out there either.
Must be the way I'm wired.

I like allister, but I hate sten, so I stripped him of clothes and left him at camp.
Odd. With me it's the other way around. I love Sten but hate Allister. Now Allister sits naked at my camp bothering my dog all damn day -.-
Some king he's turning out to be. I wonder why when we hate a character we find the need to strip them naked and leave them at camp.

Point though is that if you want you can get rid of him, but it's toward the end of the game.

Alister is not bad however, the other ones have always just been annoying at best, they constantly intrude on what your doing, constantly try and force their ideas down your throat, if you do something they don't agree with, they don't question it so much as whine about it.
And then there was the pretty much half an hour long talk Carth and Atton HAD to have with you about how much they can't trust you due to blah blah blah blah blah blah. And you have to listen to it every single time thinking you have alot better things to be doing, like I dunno, saving the universe, or something along those lines.
Alister doesn't pester you about his opinion, his past, or any of that stuff unless you actually ask him, and even then, its not long, its not him whining about it, moreso him blaming himself for being so stupid, which makes it alot easier to just get past. And most of his reveal moments are quick, and to the point, and he acts like a normal person would about them, rather then Carths "Welliservedwithsoandsoformanyyearsmyfamilyhebterayedhtmeohgodihatehimyouareasithblahblahblahblahblah"
As for being evil, I don't think many people can take the true evil path on purpose, other then for hilarity, it normally screws up your game so much, and its gotten hardwired thats the more difficult path to take, so most people don't take it, however, it is fun to Roleplay certain characters in certain ways ( The Dalish who doesn't care about humans, but would sacrifice themselves to save an Elf, the Blood Mage that seeks power, but will also do whatever it takes to hide that, saving certain people, yet at the same time, desecrating certain things, and sacrificing what he thinks he can get away with. )
