I think Alistair is hilarious and I've enjoyed traveling with him in every play through so far.
Course I tend not towards evil/quick solutions, and play my characters pretty upstanding and honest just as a normal state of my personality...so Alistair and my characters are usually like brothers by the end of the story, which always makes the final decision a bit obvious.
One of these days, I keep promising myself, I'll play a BioWare game and be a completely evil dillhole and do whatever I want, but I never really enjoy being evil...tried it in Fallout 3 and it didn't work out there either.
Must be the way I'm wired.
I hate goody two shoes characters in these games but I can't ever be all out evil because the evil conversation responses are too a-holish. It's hard for me to pick a response that makes me say to myself, "that's an a-hole thing to say." You don't have to be unlikable to be evil and none of these RPG game companies ever seems to realize that so the evil plotlines usually require you to be a homicidal sociopath.
