I think Alistair is hilarious and I've enjoyed traveling with him in every play through so far.

Course I tend not towards evil/quick solutions, and play my characters pretty upstanding and honest just as a normal state of my personality...so Alistair and my characters are usually like brothers by the end of the story, which always makes the final decision a bit obvious.

One of these days, I keep promising myself, I'll play a BioWare game and be a completely evil dillhole and do whatever I want, but I never really enjoy being evil...tried it in Fallout 3 and it didn't work out there either.

Must be the way I'm wired.

I hate goody two shoes characters in these games but I can't ever be all out evil because the evil conversation responses are too a-holish.  It's hard for me to pick a response that makes me say to myself, "that's an a-hole thing to say."  You don't have to be unlikable to be evil and none of these RPG game companies ever seems to realize that so the evil plotlines usually require you to be a homicidal sociopath.

Hmm I do have to agree that Allister isnt as annoying as Carth or Atton was. Those 45 minute conversations about how much they cant trust you were extremely tedious to get through. Not to mention the fact that everytime you did something, they had to complain about it. Allister really doesnt do that ...well as much anyway. He seems to take things in a more humorous manner ..almost as if he was purposely made to be the opposite of Carth Onasi.

Maybe I'll throw some clothes on Allister and see how it goes.... he's only getting leather for now though! BUT he does have a second chance.

I liked Carth and Kaidan, since I'm a big fan of Raphael Sbarge's work. I don't know why people bring up Atton, KotOR2 was not a BioWare game, it was done by Obsidian.

As for Alistair, love the crap out of him. Steve Valentine is a very talented actor with a great voice, and Alistair's writing is some of the best in the game. Sten is boring. He was cool for the first bit, but then he got annoying. Annoying like Carth when you played dark side kind of annoying. I stopped using him and left him in camp with tier 1 leather and his stupid sword.

The great thing about these games is you don't have to interact with characters you don't want to. Don't use Alistair if he bothers you so much.

Does this mean you know other girls that play this game?

Screenshots or it didn't happen.

I loved Kaiden and Carth, they were just good characters, but Allistar is to damn whinny. Im still wanting a 'HK-47' like character of this game, he was my all time favourite. 'You are like a random cruelty generator'

Alistair is nothing like Carth. Carth was brooding, dark, and serious. Alistair was silly, childish, and light hearted.

The differences are huge. I get the feeling all the guys here just hate the male leads because they're the male leads. :/

Alistair can't handle being treated in the same way he treats every one else; with "witty" comments and snide remarks. He completely lacks any kind of self distance and that's something I've never been able to stand.

Oh, he can teach me the Templar specialization though, so I'll shower him with gifts until I unlock it and then sell him to some foreign mages' guild to experiment upon.

Alistair is a true bro. As was Atton. Kaiden and Carth were unbearable.

It's not just the guys who don't like the male leads :)

*KOTOR spoilers* I despised Carth--seriously, what kind of epic tool leaves a 14 year old kid to her death facing down the Dark Lord of the Sith and RUNS AWAY to save his own behind? I was so happy when I splatted his brains all over the Star Forge. *end KOTOR spoilers*

Kaidan wasn't much better, though he wasn't as objectionable as Carth. He had all the personality of a lampshade + Carth's voice + epic whining about brain camp. Yecch. My Shepard ditched him at the first opportunity, though I suppose I liked him better than Carth in that I didn't cackle horribly when bad things happened to Kaidan. Sky in Jade Empire was...not awful. Kinda bland. That's about the best thing I can say for him.

Alistair and Atton are both rare in that they're male leads that I actually like. I think it's because Alistair and Atton are younger, more flexible, with more room for growth and character development. Also, their character models and voices are just cuter. *giggle* Let it not be said that looks do not matter.

I love Alistair, his personality is so genuine and his jokes are actually funny. I feel like I've connected with him and I've hardly played for long. That sounds ridiculous, seeing as he's a character in a game, but this always happens to me -- I'll get really attached to certain characters, then if something bad happens to them, it's suuuuuuch a bummer.

I really hope he survives. Seriously.

Currently I have him stripped naked at camp hating me more and more as I learn blood magic and sacrifice the people he cares about as my means of achieving power. Maybe if Stern likes me enough he'll rip off Carth's arms.

You could bring Allistor along on all missions, have him standing there just to suck the blood from him for your Blood Magic.  He's there only as a doner.  Let him revive for the next encounter, then rinse and repeat.

Nah, just Carth.  For being whiny brooding emo obnoxious long-winded and annoying.  I like Alistair, Kaiden was ok.

You should burn your Female Gender Membership Card and hand in your ovaries at the designated office for referring to yourself as a ''chick''.

I was set to dislike Al. Now my female character is in love with him. How did it happen?

He makes me laugh and doesn't win his insult fights with Morrigan. People who win insult fights tend to be too egotistical to like.

Also, he has some depth. Sure, he wishes Duncan was still alive and that he had some real family and that he wasn't going to be king but he also treats you with respect and has always has a witty line to keep the crushing reality of the situation from getting too bleak.

Plus, his voice actor rocks.
